  1. Hi has anyone else had this happen post op?,the op did,nt interefere with my periods i have had a period every month since august right up until the end of december,i have never missed a period before, took 4 pregnancy tests all neg and dr has taken blood to rule out the menepause(i,m too young!!!) so i just dont know whats going on,is this normal after the sleeve? is it just my hormones playing up,i,m all over the place at the moment with my moods, crying one minute, happy the next and then hulk angry, my poor hubby lol.

  2. I had one appt with the weigh ahead team in sheffield and asked there and then to be refferred for the sleeve,i got my refferal in febuary 2013 and went to the pre bairiatric meeting in march and was offerred my surgery in april.i did,nt have the surgery until august due to holidays booked and my bf wedding, they even took the date of my bf wedding and offerred me surgery 10 days after so i could start the pre op diet the day after!! they were brilliant,i,m almost 6 months post op and 5 stone gone :) i am half way there and so glad i took the steps to lose the weight.goodluck with your op it wont take long now you have been given the go ahead.

  3. 8 months out and everything seems "normal" and "routine" for me - that's a good thing! I don't feel like I'm doing anything really different or special. I just make better choices now and eat in smaller quantities' date=' not because I feel like I "should" more like because I "have to". It's just the way it is... so yeah, total non-issue![/quote']

My sentiments exactly, its not hard to eat pretty normal healthy foods,i cook for all my family I just have a tiny portion size because my sleeve prevents me overeating, just take the fat out and you can cook anything really, everything in moderation isnt bad for you , I cant obsess over food rest of my life, I just get on with living and loosing woo hoo:-)

  4. My dad arrives from India today so I have to make something his 90-year body (and teeth) can enjoy' date=' AND tomorrow is soft foods day for us! yay! We were told to eat meats that were out of a crockpot or pressure cooker so they were soft. So here goes.

This is massively modified from Anupy Singla's Indian Crockpot book a) not make enough to feed the entire state of Texas and B) not to blow the roof off your head with her version of spice.

I'm Indian. Believe me when I tell you, this is the BEST chicken curry I have ever had and the EASIEST.

    Ingredients

    1 onion peeled & quartered

    5 garlic cloves peeled

2 inches ginger root sliced roughly

    2 tomatoes quartered

    I tsp salt

    1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

    2 tsp turmeric

1 tsp garam masala, can buy ready mixed or I will post my fav, easy recipe shortly

    1/2 cup greek yogurt

    1.5 lbs of chicken, skinned

    1 bag of baby spinach

    1 2 inch piece cinnamon

    4 green cardamom

    2 whole clove

    Method

    1. In a food processor, grind together everything except the chicken and the spinach and the whole spics. Make a nice, smooth paste. This may take a few minutes, be patient.

    2. Put the chicken pieces in a crockpot, and pour over the yummy-smelling sauce you just made. Add the whole spices, cinnamon, cardamom, and cloves.

    3. Chop up the spinach and add during the last hour of cooking.

    4. Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 6.

Us Sleevers may have to eat the chicken without the sauce and eat the sauce separately or something.

Makes 6 servings of chicken (3 oz each, 21 gms of Protein each

EDIT: Forgot the tomatoes in the first version and also the whole spices! brain is mush

This is fantastic:-D me and my hubby love Indian curry and i, m starting softstage in 3 days, my crockpot is never going to be off, I can now cook something we can both have even if mines 1/8 of his portion :-D we both love cooking , so please any healthy versions of Indian cuisine eould be fantastic :-D

  5. Every has different guidelines but I wouldn't try eating buts when you are only 3 weeks post-op. i think 3 months post-op is probably Ok but you should ask you surgeon and NUT.

    pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274; 4 month post-op 266.2; 5 month post-op 262.6; 6 month post-op 253.2

Only I had a protien bar with nuts in, haf 2 small bites then panicked:-/

  6. Hello!

I know we are all having surgery to be healthy and to improve our daily living. BUT' date=' is there one person, who you can't wait to show the new you when you lose the weight? A person who made your life miserable because they teased you, or someone who would be super excited for you? I would have to say, I can't wait to show a former best friend. I wasn't asked to be in her wedding because of my size, and she mentioned to others how "big" I had gotten. I am excited for her to see all of my hard work, even if she doesn't feel bad about what she did/said. Any of you have that one person you can't wait to show?[/quote']

That is not a friend, what a shallow person she is, I have recently been the chief bridesmaid at my bestfriends wedding, I was the largest bm but we all looked stunning and she did, nt ask me because of my size, she asked me cos she loves me whatever size I am, I would, nt waste your energy on her!

  7. Listening to all of those people crunch on their popcorn while I drank my Vitamin Water zero was torture! What was I thinking by going to a movie?!? Good thing the movie was hilarious! Anyone else finding certain situations intolerable?

I took my littleboy to see despicable me 2 yesterday and bought him popcorn and Pepsi max I also had a couple of mini cheese crackers bags in my bag for him, I had a cup of tea, It doesnt bother me so much because its my littleman I took him to McDonald's after for a happy meal and again I had tea, I just figure there's no point avoiding these situations because you just gotta accept you, ve made a positive change to your eating and life goes on and I wont deprive my littleman the occasional treat.

  8. Well' date=' lot's of things. He's pretty awesome, actually. But sometimes he's clueless. He's a dude. It's those times when I want to smack him in the head. Thankfully they are few & far between.

Ummm, it's a RANT. If you don't like it, get the F out. It's my thread. Start your own if you want to be pissy, and I'll stay off it.[/quote']

Well said!! And if it was my hubby i, d say " well woopy #&@!&@ do for snooki why dont you see if she, ll put you up on her couch for the night, seeing as you notice how much weight shes losing!!! I think he, d get the point;-)

  9. Hey all. So I got sleeved aug. 21st and wanted to make a quick post to see if you August sleeves were going through the same experiences as I or if anyone can relate. So' date=' as of today it's been 11 days since my surgery. My stomach is still pretty bloated and swollen, like its bigger than when I went into surgery. I have lost about ten pounds already but it doesn't seem like my stomach is going down. I can't eat ANYTHING. Everything pretty much hurts. Some days it hurts to even drink Water. I have a lot of chest pain and I can't even get mushy food down. I'm pretty much not eating **** and you would think being on a liquid diet for eleven days I would lose more than ten pounds right? Any experiences and advice welcomed! Thanks[/quote']

I, ve still got bloating and my right incision burst open like i, d just been opened up! was nasty I could see my flesh:-S,so this is still healing after been sutured s wk after my op, I had my wls 8/19.i have, nt had a problem keeping anything down ,can take fluids and purree or soft foods mainly Soup and mashed potato, tried getting purree fish in for Protein but I hate the purree texture, sometimes I wonder if surgeon forgot to take my stomach out because nothing except eggs disagrees with me, I manage about 4 tablespoonsful max and I was worried this was too much until some1 pointed out were expected to eat 3 teaplates a day!! Dont think i, ll ever manage that much, I hope you start feeling better soon :-)

  10. How are you cooks out there doing ......I was sleeved over a week ago and I still like to cook for family....I taste as I cook...but now I spit it out. My husband thinks its crazy but I'm not taking any chances.

I, ve just cooked my family cottage pie and took some to one side and pureed the mincebeef and peppers in gravy, then added powdered milk to my mashed potatoes n butternut squash( for extra protien) and made my own tiny cottage pie in a little dish, and this will still make me around 6 meals so i, ll freeze it, I think as long as your cooking healthy food you can purree or eat if your past liquids, purree stage its fine cooking for family, unless its not what you can eat , like a fryup lol thats gotta be tough. :-)

  11. Hi in the information diet booklet we are given to follow after surgery it says alcohol not recommended for 12 months:-( this is because we absorb it really quickly post sleeve so you get drunk really fast, and our livers are recovering from being moved about in surgery, I think i, ll have a glass at Christmas definitely which is 5 months post op, sure thats enough time.

  12. I agree but also agree with ' everything in moderation' am not going to deny myself the very occasional junk but the majority of the time will eat healthily. :-) what will be lovely is having a Chinese and only being able to eat a quarter of what I would eat previously' date=' or even less! However, that is a loooooong way off! :-)[/quote']

That's what I mean tho, its a long way off, i, m talking about only just having your sleeve and trying to eat the crap you did before then wondering why your sick when you, ve just tried to eat a burger or pizza slice, theres no point in that,i agree everyone should have atreat and 2 yrs down the line. Were all gonna know what we can and cant tolerate, but straight away we have to be strong, besides everything that we love thats bad for us makes us dump, it is hard every1 seems to be having Chinese around me and that was my fav junk food, grrrr lolxx

  13. I feel like my weight loss journey is taking too long. I don't feel like I'm in a good place right now kinda like I've reached a stand still... is this normal? I'm going to start exercising more now and throw in weights but I need to eat healthier (I know) but I can't think of stuff to make... I bought a recipe book but it's like crazy stuff. I want simple healthy stuff I can make quickly and take too work... any suggestions as to certain exercises or recipe books? ? Please help!

Butternut squash and corriannder Soup, so easy to make and delicious, you can also freeze it, its never too late you, ve just got to work with your sleeve its a tool, thats what my surgeon drilled into me, its my mantra now lol

  14. I'm just over a month out. Every time I eat' date=' I get nauseous, my heart starts pounding and I feel like I'm going to pass out. After about 30 minutes or so, it goes away. I just feel so terrible. I just had Soup and I'm trying not to fall out, again. As an aside, I am severely anemic post surgery. I I exert myself or get hot, I have similar symptoms. So, I'm wondering, is it all anemia related or have others had this with eating post op?

    Thanks,

    Elaine[/quote']

It sounds like your dumping , our nut explained that if you eat anything fatty or sugary you can get whats known as the dumping syndrome, it makes you feel pretty ill for a while and is very unpleasant, palpitations, nausea feeling like your gonna pass out. I have, nt had it myself as I have stuck to my post op diet and i, m still on liquids, purees, i, m in the uk do your surgeon tell you about dumping syndrome in the usa?
