  1. I've told people I'm planning to get it done and so far everybody but one is happy for me. To those that will give me the eye roll, I'll tell them I did it the hard way first and did lose 120lbs, but I had to exercise 3hrs a day and starve myself almost. I developed my horrible habits when I was a kid and I can't break that habit without some physical intervention. (I've gained 100 of the 120 back, but there have been issues since in part to cause it). Most don't understand we don't want the habits we have; I am ready for the day I don't want to eat or don't have an appetite!

  2. I have BCBS of NC and if its like IL, there is no longer a supervise diet. I read the regulations when I signed into the website and it doesn't say anything about have weight history or anything. I just have to have the BMI, see the nutritionist and psychiatrist. When I made my seminar appt the woman said BCBS was the GOOD insurance because they don't require the paperwork the others do. But then again that's for the NC version. I suggest calling or going on their website and it should be in the documentson what they require for each type.

  3. I've told some of my coworkers I plan to get it done, because they are like my second family. My mom and sister know but I'm going to have a hard time telling my dad because he's very old fashioned and don't believe it. I lost 120lbs on my own over 2 years ago by severely restrict lay myself and exercising 3hrs. A day, needless to say I put 90lbs back on. A lot of people thought I had surgery then, but if they ask this time I'm not afraid to tell them.

  4. I went to my seminar on July 19, got my surgery date of Sept 16. I had no diet requirements. I did have to meet with the nut and psych which I will finish this week, then insurance has to approve me. I am nervous about that but from my review of insurance requirements, it seems like I will have jumped through all the hoops that they asked. It is so hard to be patient.

You got your surgery date at the seminar? Your requirements sound similar to what mine will be.

  5. I go for my seminar on the 22nd. I have Blue Cross of NC, and their 2013 review for the weightloss surgeries, it doesn't mention the 6 month diet (I think they recently removed it bc I checked a year ago and it was there. The lady with the Duke Weightloss Center said I had "the good insurance" because most others require a lot more paperwork. That made me feel a lot better! I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in 2005, so I don't know if they can use that or not (had issues with my stomach when I was 18).

But good luck! Everything will go well I'm sure of it!

  6. Lost initially 120lbs to gain 90lbs back to numerous issues once I lost the weight. It's a lot harder to do a second time around without having to starve myself, plus now that's have fibromyalgia,it hurts most of the time to try to workout at the gym. Both my parents are now diabetic as well, so I thought it would be a good time to seek an alternate route to help me. Plus, I use to run half marathons (which is what triggered my fibro) and I'd love to do some again but not at such a high weight.
