I am headed to the hospital! My day to be sleeved!

I lost 120lbs on my own - gained it all back because I was unable to maintain it on my own which why I'm having surgery (in 2 days). Most statistics show that if you have been obese your whole life, only a small percent can kept it off. I was very scared of my father knowing, but turns out he supports it (use to he didn't). Thankfully about 99% have supported me except one or two but they knew my mind was set and didn't really bad mouth it.
My father and sister (who are two of my top supporters) wish secretly (I was told) I wouldn't have it, still support me despite how they feel. I think you may just have to stand your ground with your mom if you decide you really want this. My dad acknowledged I was a grown woman and it was my decision.
Good luck with your decision!!

I have the fear of failure since I have in the past. I fear not getting full after a small amount. I fear I will get there Wednesday (6th) and they will refuse me surgery because my liver will be too big.
But I know it's my nerves and it will all work out. I lost 120lb in the past but couldn't keep it off on my own.

I have my surgery in 4 days and I have the same thoughts. I think it's just normal to think this way. I lost 120lbs on my own in the past, so I know I should succeed with this helping. My problem was keeping it off, not losing it.

I would go ahead and get rid of them! Make room for smaller clothes!

I live south of Raleigh and have mine on 11/6 (day after my 27th birthday). I'm going through Duke and will have Dr. Torquati. They didn't require any preop diet except the 24hrs before.

Amazing. Glad I found this post. I lost 120lbs on my own and gained it back which is why I'm now having surgery (9 days!).

I'm not required to do one but plan to go to all liquids the week prior to Nov 6 and just cut back a lot this week.

I was told my doctor does not require a pre op diet but I plan to cut back and start liquids the week prior anyway. They say it helps with recovery time too.

I start mine next Wednesday. Are you get in routine of doing it, it'll probably help too.

Just use it as a learning experience and next time you are tempted, remember what happened last time. I know I'll have a few moments like this myself once I get sleeved. I usually learn what makes me sick and stay away!

It's normal to feel that way.
I lost 120lbs on my own, to gain them back. And now am turning to surgery bc I learned I can't do it alone. Plus, when I lost weight, I was too strict and exercised way too much. Sometimes I get embarrassed that I'm going through with surgery, but thankfully I have so much support to help me through. I know a lot that lost it on their own and gained it back.

I've had a cyst surgery and gallbladder surgery (most recent), and I had a difficult time with the anesthesia bc it made me so nauseous. But it seemed seconds after when I woke up. Very groggy.

I'll be doing my soon, but haven't had my preop visit yet so I'm not sure how my surgeon will tell me to do it. My worse thing is, I get up at 4am for work...where we sell food (I work for my dad), it's going to be tough!
