  1. I am the person whom told you to stop eating ****.

All of you that are farther along have your ups' date=' downs and inbetweens, as do us newly born into the sleeve world. There are struggles on day one, day 10, day 365, and day 43534, your struggle isn't special, it isn't uniquie, so please spare me your superior attitude.

The people that you are calling negative and judgmental all have a few things in common: determination to be better, an Iron will and a no bullshit policy with themselves. That isn't to say you aren't, but where people get irritated is, it is annoying to see someone post something like what you posted. Why? Because it is very commonsensical what you should do. If it isn't, I shall help you: think back to when you got this surgery. Why did you do it? Think of your thoughts then. As I said before, stop eating ****, to sum up. I haven't experienced your "stage-specific" struggle, obviously because I am not there yet. So what would I do if I "fell off the wagon." Get back up on the damn wagon. Eat to live, do not live to eat. Be happy, live on.[/quote']

You are still really obnoxious. Get over yourself.

  2. This is just my opinion' date=' but I think there are a lot of things that we are told that are meant to protect us from ourselves or as a blanket rule for something a percentage of people may experience.

The straw, for example, is certainly something that helped lead many of us to obesity. We can down sodas/milkshakes/slurpees/etc. so much faster, right?

Some people may experience the gas/air issue, but many do not.

If it is a blanket rule, many will listen and follow orders that will help them avoid having possible gas issues and probably (more importantly) falling back into old habits.

Gum and popcorn are other popular topics. There may be valid reasons to avoid all of these items, but done "responsibly", they are probably fine.[/quote']

Just since you mentioned it, I am 11 days out and chewed gum yesterday and it instantly made me sick.

  3. My surgery is Monday! I'm 6 days into liquids' date=' tomorrow I go to Clear liquids. My boyfriend made me very finely mashed sweet potatoes for dinner and I'm so excited! I got ice pops and juice for tomorrow.... Then up at 4:00am on Monday to be at the hospital by 6am! Surgery is at 8am. I am so excited but it's becoming very real. I had to call yesterday to find out what time I needed to be at the hospital, did all of my preop tests and visited with the doctor on Tuesday. My nerves are starting to get to me. I'm trying to just deal minute to minute. I hope everyone's doing well![/quote']

How are sweet potatoes liquid? I would like that on my diet!

  4. I went back to work at day 9 (yesterday). Desk job. Thought I could have gone back earlier. It was exhausting. I stayed 4 hours and then came home and slept for 2 hours and felt like total crap the rest of the day.

Sometimes we overestimate out bodies. It takes 3 months for your sleeve to heel. Be patient.

  5. Okay' date=' so call me dumb...but I don't even have a clue as to why that would be important. Maybe I just naturally trust my surgeons ability that I didn't really go in there with any questions. Now I am second guessing myself.[/quote']

Don't second guess yourself. I too trusted my surgeon and all is just fine.

  6. I think you have already gotten some great advise (and some really rude, insensitive feedback). Get back to basics, track everything you put in your mouth, and consider seeking out a support group. This surgery is a life's worth of hard an learning but you can do it. We will all have struggles and setbacks along the way but define yourself by how you pick yourself back up.

  7. Sassy sleevers on Fb is great' date=' and I have a separate September sleevers group. Just email me your address and I'll add you.

I had surgery Monday. Today is a great day, but it's still hard to get Protein and Water in. I'm on full liquids for a month and I don't think those include mashed potatoes or cottage cheese. But! I'm ok with that because it sounds horrible right now.

Anyone off pain meds? I think I will be by next week.[/quote']

    Are the Facebook groups private?

  8. Angie!!' date=' I'm not sure. I had read that other people lost more initially.... I realize the problem isn't the 15 lbs. it's comparing my weight loss to other people's. in retrospect, I am doing as well as I am supposed to do and need to not worry about how much other people loose initially.[/quote']

We are all so different. There are so many factors that impact our losses. And everyone counts their losses differently. As long as you are doing what you are supposed to than you are doing great. Trust and Celebrate the work you are doing!

  9. I think that's fabulous! I am also a belly sleeper and have found that if I use the pillow that I got from the hospital' date=' I can tolerate sleeping on my belly. It also helped with expelling extra gas. I made the mistake of weighing myself at my daughters pediatricians office yesterday, and was disappointed....I only lost ( 15) lbs since last week, but today is another day. Trying to get the Protein in is a great plan. Sip sip sip as much as you can.[/quote']

I'm sorry but you "only lost 15 pounds since last week?" What exactly were you expecting??
