Pulled a muscle probs, heat and ice, you should be okay, but don't life over 10lbs until the doctor says otherwise. Tell the doc when you see him/her!
  2. ScottsGirl

    Recovery

I'm a teacher's assistant (Special Ed) and my doctor said 2 weeks; that's why I had it done during summer break!

    Body pain

When did you last have your abs done? Sounds like you're deficient in something, maybe potassium...? If it gets unbearable, you should def go to the ER.

    sore tummy

It looks like a rash, hard to tell in that pic... or, you could be allergic to the tape...???

    sore tummy

Is it mostly muscle pain, or incision pain? It was muscle for me, well, besides the major air in my abdomen that they pumped me full of. Don't lay around too much, this will extend the time you are in pain. Drink your Protein, this aides in healing and go for a few 5 minute casual walks everyday for the first week and then gradually increase your time, but don't overdo it; no fast walking. Breathe deeply and cough every hour to avoid pneumonia. The pain should subside after a couple more days. I didn't take pain meds at all, not even in the hospital, they slow the healing process down. Just don't be immobile for hours on end. I hope you feel better by tonight!

    Nutri bullet?

I buy them pre-made, much more convenient http://www.premierprotein.com/category/shakes/?gclid=CPTt3u-Al7kCFc57QgodA1sAeg
  8. Go back to the basics: 120 grams protein a day, low fat, low sugar etc... you know what you need to do
  9. I had a 3-day Pitocin labor (his head back, and trying to come out chin first!) and then a c-section as well. That was way worse for me than the vsg. There wasn't really "pain" after vsg for me, just massively sore abdomen. It felt like I was punched all over my stomach or like I did 1000 situps consecutively. This lasted about 5 days and was just gone the next morning when I woke up! I had to do the side-roll thing to get out of bed. I have a high tolerance to pain, so I give mine a 5. The GAS in my abdomen is what REALLY bothered me!!!

    wow

It seems to be the consensus that the more fat you have to lose, the faster it comes off in the beginning. I hope it continues it's pace for you!!! Congrats!
  11. I understand exactly how you are feeling! I was down right afraid ---- TO DIE! Well, obviously I was over-reacting because here I am! I am 17 days in and can HONESTLY say that I am completely happy that I did it. The surgery only took about an hour and within moments of waking up, I was drinking my Protein and walking within a few hours. This is going to be a positive journey in your life so you should have no reservations about it. Just focus on the long-term outcome!

    help me I'm hungry

Okay, I had the same problem right out the gate. If you are on Clear liquids still then you know you can eat stuff like Jello and popsicles, right? You can also buy your favorite restaurant Soup and strain it (I froze contents for later) and just drink the broth. I know it doesn't sound like much, but it really helped me when Protein Water and plain chkn broth just wasn't cutting it! You should be okay to drive as long as you're not on pain meds of any kind; if you are, you shouldn't drive. Also, use extreme caution not to get into an accident as this would be disastrous as you know.
  13. I have BS of Ca, SUPER fast approval! The whole process for me only took 3 months - from 1st doctor consult! I wish you much luck

    Omeprazole/Prilosec

My surgeon has me on Omerprazole for a minimum or 3 MONTHS to prevent acid reflux. Since we don't have a big stomach anymore and your body is producing the same amount of acid as it did before to help break down the food you eat, it's just too much. I wouldn't stop taking acid meds so soon, and I may end up taking them forever like my multi-vitamin. If you decide not to take it anymore, make sure you only eat low-acid foods!

    help

I use TicTacs, they now have one called Powermint. I mix the orange with mint = tasty! They have natural cane sugar but have less than .5 gram per serving! NO GUM as it creates more gas in your stomach. I have a friend (with the vsg) and she swallowed a piece of gum, she experienced a bit of pain, so not a good idea!

    Gas feeling

Since you're not eating yet, it is def gases. The excess air from surgery is being absorbed into your system and is making it's way out. This process was very painful for me, hopefully not so much for you!

    Gas feeling

I find that it helps if my posture is straight while I'm eating or drinking, I often lean back as well; no pressure on my tummy. Also, make sure your food isn't too thick or it will gurgle a lot more! I read somewhere here that it can also mean that your sleeve is full; not sure if that's true or not.

    Best Protein Shake

And, because they're not thick, I have no probs getting them in! Plus, it's like drinking chocolate milk - love!
  19. It's best to do clear liquids the day before to make sure there's nothing left in or anywhere near your stomach. I only had to do the day before as well.
  20. My doctor made it mandatory from day one to take Omerprazole DR 40mg EVERY day to prevent heartburn, and have not had it once! I also have to open the capsule and mix it in s&f/f pudding to take it.
  21. 13 pounds is good, that's 1.3 pounds a day!!! I'm 16 days out and have only lost 7!!! However, I've lost inches and my clothes are too big now, and my stomach is much smaller than two weeks ago! Everyone is different and your body is still recouping. You're on the right track!

    Liquids

Isopure (40grams protein/20ozs), jello, popsicles! I also got egg flower soup from my fav Chinese rest and strained it - SO good!

    Best Protein Shake

Premier chocolate - so tasty!!! They sell them at costco (near me anyway). http://www.premierprotein.com/category/shakes/?gclid=CKGH7J6JlbkCFQnhQgodwxQAaw

    Protein Pills and chewables

The tablets have VERY LOW protein grams and contain Phenylketoneurics: which contains Phenylalanine, this chemical is in diet soda and will stimulate your appetite. What protein shakes are you drinking??? I drink (2, 11oz) Premier Choc - 30 grams protein, and love them! I also drink (1, 20oz) Pineapple Orange Banana Isopure - 40 grams protein (the only one I tolerate - taste wise).
