  1. I am almost two years out and I decided to do the 5 day pouch test. I am currently on day 3 and have lost 4 pounds already. I got pregnant a month after surgery and never really had a chance to take full advantage of my sleeve. I still lost 130 lbs, pregnant and all, but I have 30 to go and found myself slipping into bad habits again so I wanted to get back on track! I'd say it's working!!!

  2. Did anyone have a comparison to how much they gained in a pre surgery pregnancy? We are starting to try even though it hasn't been a year yet. It took us 3 years the first pregnancy. I have lost 65 lbs post surgery and am 30 lbs down from my weight when I got pregnant before. So I still feel healthier. For that pregnancy I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I ate right on plan to limit carbs so I ended up losing like 10 pounds until the last month where I gained 20 so only 10 pounds while pregnant. And lost it right away post partum. I am hopeful and maybe delusional that I can so the same again and it won't totally sabotage my loss. I'm healthier now too so my blood sugar is better already though I will probably still get GD.

My first pregnancy I gained 70!!!! Yikes!!! I was horrible!!! I think I even had undiagnosed GD late in the third trimester since my son was 10 lbs 3 oz!! With my second I only gained 16 lbs due to the GD diet. I had it extremely early in the first trimester and ended up on insulin halfway through the pregnancy. Had my surgery and got pregnant only 2 months post op! Oops!!! I'm 37 weeks and haven't gained a pound. I've lost a total of 111 lbs since surgery 50+ of which were after finding out I was pregnant!! Most important NO GD!!!! My numbers have been no where close to the limits!!! So it is possible to not get it!

  3. Hi all, I am 8 months out from vsg and just found out I am about 5 weeks pregnant with my first baby. We are thrilled but also shocked. I did not plan to get pregnant this early. I wanted to wait a year as my surgeon recommended but I guess things happen when they happen. I have lost 120 pounds so far but am still about 65 pounds from goal. I am hoping some of you can reassure me that everything will be alright. I am worried that I either won't be able to eat enough to have a healthy pregnancy or that alternatively, I will eat too much and undo all the progress I have made. I am currently feeling really bloated and when I got on the scale this morning I was up about 2 pounds from last week! That really freaked me out because I definietly don't want to be gaining weight this early on. I'm hoping it's just Water weight from being bloated right now. Also I'm worried that since I am still 65 pounds overweight this will somehow have a negative effect on my pregnancy. I feel like I am walking a tightrope and am so confused! Anyone been in this position? Any words of advice?

Hang in there!!!! I am currently 34 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and I got pregnant only 2 months post op!!! Talk about shock!!! Total oops moment!!! I was completely worried about ruining everything I had worked for and was freaked out that the surgery was pointless! I have lost a total of 111 pounds ( 50+) after finding out I was pregnant! I can only eat about 1400 cals a day and some days are harder than others. I had a growth scan last week and he's measuring 4lbs. 11 oz and in the 60th percentile. I haven't gained anything but obviously the baby has. All of my labs are good and my Vitamin levels are normal. Keep up with your nutritionist and you'll do great!!! Let me know if you have any questions!!!! These ladies helped me with more than even my doctors could with their experiences!! Good luck!

  4. Congrats!!!!! An congrats on your weightloss too!!! I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and I was only 2 months post op when I found out. I have lost a total of 111 lbs and haven't gained anything this entire pregnancy. Some women gain, some lose and some stay the same so I think it all depends on your body. I had two pregnancies pre surgery and I can definitely say that this one has been the best and healthiest yet! I'm still about 30-40 lbs away from my goal weight but I feel amazing! Good luck with your pregnancy and if you have any questions I would be glad to help!!

Thank you so much. I will definitely be in touch i am sure as i get further alone.

I know how hard it is to find info on being sleeved and pregnant. Even my Bariatric surgeon wasn't much help as I was his first to be pregnant so soon after surgery! My nutritionist was the most helpful and my OBGYN has been somewhat knowledgeable. I would think that in the next few years our doctors will know more as it seems the sleeve and other weightloss surgeries are starting to become more well known. This site has been extremely helpful to find answers from others in the same situation!!

  5. I had my surgery 3/25/13 and just found out 3 weeks ago I'm pregnant. I'm super happy because I've never been able to get pregnant before (even tho this was a surprise) but I'm concerned because I can eat whatever I want or can tolerate but within an hour I'm starving. Like I feel like I'm going to die. Any suggestions? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Congrats on your pregnancy!!! I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant and I got pregnant only 2 months post op. I definitely have days where I can eat more than others. I still keep track of all of my food through myfitnesspal so that I make sure I'm getting all of my Protein and carbs in daily. Just make good choices with all of your Snacks and meals. Since we can't eat much at one sitting, snacks are key to making sure we get all we need. I haven't gained anything this pregnancy and have lost a total of 111 lbs since surgery. Baby is doing great and it's been my best pregnancy yet (I had 2 pre sleeve). I'm happy to answer any questions you may have! Good luck!!!

  6. We just found out today we are expecting. This was not planned but we are happy. My concerns are the babies health. Any advise would be very helpful. Also since i have lost 101lbs in those 7 months and now 229. Will i gain weight lose weight or stay the same?. This is not my first pregnancy but first after surgery and want to do whatever i for a healthy safe baby. Thank you in advance.

Congrats!!!!! An congrats on your weightloss too!!! I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and I was only 2 months post op when I found out. 7. I had my sleeve in October and got pregnant only 2 months post op! Talk about an "Ooops" moment!! I am currently 27 weeks and have lost 50 lbs since getting pregnant (108 total since I had my sleeve done). Eating was a challenge in the beginning but is a little better now. I haven't gained anything so far but the weightloss has slowed down/stalled. I eat throughout the entire day to get everything in. This pregnancy is much easier than my 2 pre sleeve.

  8. You will do great!!! I was just about 2 months post op when I got pregnant! I was so scared something would go wrong. I'm now 20 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy and he's measuring right on target! Make sure you meet with your nutritionist! Mine was a life saver! I eat all the time. I'm still limited to the amount I can eat at one sitting, so snacking often allows me to get to 1,400 calories per day. I've lost a total of 100 pounds and I'm at such a healthier place than I was with my other two pregnancies. My bariatric surgeon also said he has no doubts that I will have a smooth and successful pregnancy. And I haven't gained a pound!!! I am struggling with the thought of putting on any weight. At least if it happens, it's for a great cause!! Please let me know if you have any questions! I'd love to help! Congrats!!!!

  9. I'm 4 months post op and I just found out I'm pregnant. I'm freaking out a bit. This will be my 3rd child and in no way was I expecting to get pregnant after being sleeved. Anyone have any advice??

Congrats!!! I was really freaked out at first too!! I wasn't even 2 months post op when I got pregnant!! I was in your position as far as calories go too, barely getting 600-800 cals a day!! I'm now almost 6 months post op and 19 weeks pregnant. I shoot for 1,400 cals a day ( per my nutritionist and obgyn) and try to get about 100 g carbs and 60-80 G Protein. I basically eat all day long to get everything in. I take a prenatal Vitamin, b-12 and calcium citrate. Hope you are feeling good!! It's been a lot easier then is thought it would be. I haven't gained anything and my obgyn is fine with that. I actually just hit my -100# loss the other day. Let me know if you have any questions!!

  10. Congrats!!!!! I'm actually in the same position as you!!! Only I'm 5 months post up and 16 weeks pregnant! Total "oops" moment but extremely happy to be having baby #3! I have lost 39 pounds since being pregnant and have yet to gain anything. I'm sticking to my 1,400 calorie a day diet and trying to stay up on all of my Protein. Also adding in 100 grams of carbs. Weightloss has slowed down to about a pound every 2 weeks or so. My OBGYN is happy with everything so far. Like you said, I feel like I eat all day long!!! How are you feeling?

  11. Just had my first ultrasound yesterday! Thought I was 7 weeks but turns out I'm actually 11 weeks!!! Just glad everything is looking good so far. I still have my nutritionist appointment and I'm curious to see where she wants me to be calorie wise. I've been taking everyone's advice and snacking throughout the day to make sure I'm getting more cals in. Feeling ok. Just exhausted!!! But I think the shock has settled and now the excitement is setting in! I haven't gained anything so that's good. I'm still losing but it's at a slower rate. Looks like through the first trimester I have lost a lot though. But the last two weeks it's only about 4 lbs. hope you ladies are doing well!!!

  12. I had my surgery three months ago. I'm a stay at home mom and at the time my kids were 4 and 16 months. I went in the hospital on Wednesday for my surgery and I was home Thursday afternoon. The pain was not horrible but the anesthesia really did a number on me. I was pretty tired and had that "run over by a bus" feeling for a day or two. I did the little things around the house but my hubs did most of it. By Monday he was back to work and I was back to taking my son to preschool. I'd say a good week out of work would have been good for me if I had to go back. Hope this helps!!! Good luck with everything!!!!

  13. Just wondering what everyone's solutions are to beat the horrible and nasty dreaded stall. I stalled at week 5 and then again at week 11(this time it was for about a little over a week). Both times I just stuck to my regular plan with food and exercise and got out of it. Just looking for suggestions for the next time. Thanks guys!!

  14. I think I'm going to try this once I'm sleeve' date=' I heard about them on here in a post I have found them at Wal-Mart. whey Protein bullets they are 3.8 oz and have 42g Protein. [/quote']

OMG!!!! I got them before my surgery and thought they would be great since the protein is so high. THEY WERE HORRIBLE!!!! And expensive! I literally took one sip and threw them out!! I tried the fruit punch. Hope it works out for u. Everyone's tastes are different.

  15. Ok post op ladies... I'm up on the 22nd. Question for hospital..bring your own slippers or not? iPad mini or not? How many times are they checking you in the middle of the night? :-)

I was given the socks with treads and just wore them for the 2 days there. I walked the halls with them on too. I don't have an iPad but did have my iphone. I was barely on it since I was pretty out of it the first day and only used it briefly the second day. Everyone is different so you may want to bring it just in case!! My nurses were always checking on me and doing vitals several times during the night. But I was too out of it for them to have bothered me. Good luck to you! Each day seems to be getting a little better!!
