1.
Miss Mac, you are wonderful! From a person who suffers anxiety, what you wrote and how you wrote it were amazing! Feeling much better now! I am getting sleeved 12/18 and am concerned that I only have 1 day for the liquid diet. Everyone else here seems to be at least two weeks. Why such a difference? Anyone know?

I only have a 1 day liquid diet too!! Not sure why some have 2 weeks and some don't. I will ask my surgeon when I go for my last appt before surgery on dec 11....

  2. So are the Protein Shakes basically the only Protein you can get in during the liquid and purée part of post-op? I can handle Premier Protein. Hated muscle milk. Love Dannon light n fit Greek blueberry strawberry and vanilla so that's something else. Does that chicken broth have protein??? I'm so worried abt getting in enough protein to lose the weight and bc of Hair loss :(

I'm going to email my NUT on Monday and ask if the Unjury chicken broth flavored protein is okay. My friend gave me some of that too. You can probably add the unflavored Protein Powder to things. I'm allowed SF Jello and pudding, so pudding unflavored powder in those would be okay.

I've just never been a fan of artificial sweetener and I can taste that over everything else! I wish my plan had the low carb, high protein because I could do that much easier, but it doesn't so I will push along, taking a deep breath and gulping down my shakes! lol

If you already like the premier and Dannon Light n Fit x2 protein yogurt, seems like you should be just fine!

Thanks so much!! What kind of unflavored protein powder is good? I know everyone has diff tastes but what are some of them?

  3. Ugh, so today is my first day of liquids. It's fine, just not finding the shakes tasty and I don't generally like yogurt or artificial sweetners, so.....lol

As far as hunger, it's fine, I can manage. Of course I WANT a bunch of stuff, but I think I'll do okay abstaining.

I do have a headache and that will be amplified on Monday because of TOM so, that'll be fun.

I'm excited because this is one more step closer to surgery even though it's not particulalry enjoyable.

I will probably lose 10 pounds by tomorrow in Water weight if my bathroom habits are any indication. Fortunately we were staying home today as I have to go every hour at least!

So far I've tried the Body Fortress strawberry because reviews said it tasted like Nestle Quik and it doesn't. I also had a Premier Protein chocolate. Didn't like that either. I've had a Dannon Light and Fit x2 Protein Greek peach yogurt, blah. Unsweetened applesauce and Better Than Boullion chicken broth were both the tastiest things I've had today. Gulping down the shake was best followed by water (although I won't be able to do that after surgery!)

I've had 48 ounces of water so far.

My friend gave me some samples of her Unjury Chocolate and Strawberry. I will try those tomorrow.

Official starting weight was 309. Hopefully the last time the scale reads that!

Hope you find some protein you can tolerate and like. I actually love the Premier shakes, chocolate and vanilla. Try a protein shot. You may like one of those better. I love the Dannon Fit yogurt too..especially the banana ... big fan of the unsweetened apple sauce and the chicken broth! The broth has seen me through..lol

Let us know how you like the Unjury...

  4. Yes, I have a surgical coordinator but I have been workign with my general practitioner also since she wrote my letter of support. She actually is referring me for a sleep study to see if I have any sleep apnea. I only need 1 comorbid condition if i have a bmi between 35-40 with my insurance but i am afraid i dont have sleep apnea. Thanks for all the advice! I'm going to have to see what my surgeon says.....

    Thank you!

  5. Hi everyone,

So I wanted to share my story so I could maybe get some insight from people who have gone through the same thing I am going through. I originally had a BMI of 36.4 and thought that arthritis was one of the co-morbid conditions which Oxford insurance would cover, but it was not, and I got denied. Now, I am allowed to appeal, but my weight has definitely increased, so my BMI is higher. If I was to have a BMI of 40 at this point (which I am very close to), do you think they will cover the surgery now that I am heavier and at 40 BMI? Do I have to appeal with a new weight? Or do I just resubmit all my papers to insurance with the new weight/BMI? Has anyone ever been in this situation before?

    Thanks so much,

    B
