Be careful. ..
Yes, we have those laws but unless it's a pretty extreme case the laws don't do us any good, plus they don't stop anyone that's not at work. Mostly when people get to personal I just smile, laugh a little and say "you're cute" that seems to get the message across. After losing over 62 lbs in 4 months it doesn't really matter if I told people about the wls or not. They ask out of the blue. Most of the time I don't mind but the ones that act "concerned" and the ones that tell me I'm getting too skinny (again 40+lbs to goal) are the ones that are getting on my nerves

What exactly do you think a "fast loser" is?
While I completely understand that losing the weight slowly is frustrating, try to remember that the slower is comes off the longer it stays off and the better your body will look in the long run. As long as you losing, remember it's not a race.

Am I finally thin?
While I personally wouldn't categorize you as "thin" I do think you look "right". Your weight looks appropriate for your body and you look healthy and great. You do not look overweight. That is my honest opinion. Congratulations, you look beautiful

Be careful. ..
What's that about? I've been hearing 'be careful' a lot lately. It seems some people are "concerned" that I'm getting too thin and I should be careful not to lose too much weight. I'm a size 12 for God's sake! I still need to lose another 45+ lbs to get to goal which will put me at about a size 7. Apparently I will be 'skin and bones' at a size 7. Really? I don't think so. I think the jealousy monster is starting to appear. I wish everyone would just worry about themselves and leave my pants size alone... yeah right! Lol

Btw...I'm a size 12!
Thanks all! Hard to believe less than 4 months ago I was pushing a size 20

I said NO chocolates!
My husband went out of his way to find something different he knew I'd really like... Lemmon cookies. Lol... he was disappointed and said well, maybe you could just eat one every day, a treat. What am I, a dog? I explained to him that while I appreciate the thought if I go down that path I may as well have never had the surgery. He said something about not knowing how to buy me stuff anymore, and I lightheartedly said, jewelry's still good...lol we went out and gave the cookies to some homeless guy. He doesn't get addiction. I'm the one that has to stay strong. And if my family really wants to go to McDonald's I just order a plain grilled chicken breast.

So what if it's the easy way?
Yes! Exactly! My whole point is that it's meant to be degrading and so many of us take it that way. I did for a while even if it wasn't directed at me, even just reading about it. I made a decision to take it differently than it was intended and it makes a huge difference, ie; instead of the hard way? Screw intentions, I'm all about interpretation.

So what if it's the easy way?
I hear a lot of talk about wls being the "easy way out". And for some reason that confounds me people keep getting their panties in a bunch over that particular phrase. I'm one of them, I'll admit it. But I've been thinking alot about how I'm letting other people determine my feelings with that particular phrase, and I'm changing the way I think about it. I mean, yeah, I guess, compared to the alternative of being 110lbs overweight and struggling with health issues that I couldn't do anything about wls was "the easy way out". Why the he'll should we continue to do things the hard way, especially if it doesn't work? In what other area of your life do you look at your options and choose the longest road or the most difficult path or the hard way? So I'm changing my attitude about "the easy way" and I'm here to say, Your damn right!" And I'm proud of it. Just because wls is "easier" (HA) than anything else I've tried doesn't make it easy, but it sure is effective. Just a thought.

OH SH!T!
Totally normal, don't freak out. You just had major surgery and your body is totally retaining water. I've read where some people gained 10lbs with surgery. It'll happen

I'm waiting for Seela...
This was so cool! My client came in the other day and I greeted her and said'I'll be right with you', she responded, 'oh, thanks, I'm waiting for Seela'. I just started laughing, which totally confused her for a few seconds then she took a good look a me and her sincerely shocked look when she realized it was me was awesome. Such a fun moment

October Sleevers - Who else
Hi, I was sleeved 10/21 and down 59.6lbs. I think my favorites thing is that I'm NOT hot anymore! I used to be hot and sweaty all the time. People around me were always wearing sweaters and jackets and complaining about how cold it was. I recently had to go buy a sweater and a light jacket because I didn't even own one. I feel...normal. nice

I need to get back on the horse
In my experience. .. I inexplicably got pissed off the second I was approved. I ate everything I could and drank enough diet Pepsi to keep the company going for a few more years. I went cold turkey and perfect at midnight on the day of my pre op and I haven't looked back. It was really hard but I did it anyway. I was sleeved 10/21 and since pre op I've lost 59.6 lbs. Soda is something that I will NEVER have again. I can't. Just one sip and it's over.

So, should I be 'disappointed', 'flattered' or 'indifferent'?
It's funny isn't it? Some people tell me I'm getting too skinny, yeah right (still in a 12-14), others say they can see a small difference. I've lost 59lbs and when I show a before pic then it's like WOW! I think that I had gotten to a point before vsg that I just didn't care so now that I do care I feel fat and gross. Wtf am I supposed to do with that? I guess I expected to look the way I used to, even though I knew I wouldn't, so now the way I look is a constant disappointment to me. I mean, I know compared to how I looked at 250lbs that I look great now, to others, but I just see a middle aged woman with saggy skin and some old grandmother's boobs that looks nothing like what I should look like. Ahhh

7mo post op...I need help
Also... have you noticed that those of us that eat mostly good stuff and go to the gym are not miserable? Something to think about

7mo post op...I need help
Your life sounds a little miserable now. Maybe if you made the changes it would suck for a while then you would start to feel better and when positive changes start happening you won't feel so miserable anymore. You keep self sabotaging yourself and giving lot's of excuses of why you can't do better. I'm truly worried about you. Only you can decide when it's time to truly make the changes. When I decided to make changes I was pissed off and miserable too. But I was pissed off enough to stick with it and now the pissed off is gone and I'm no longer miserable but proud of my progress . After a while I becomes routine and I don't even think about or even miss the bad stuff anymore. You NEED to stop feeling sorry for yourself and get pissed off. You need to do it for you.

7mo post op...I need help
I hear you. That last post got way out of control. Instead of only coming here when you're desperate why don't you come more often? It's good to have support during positive times and helps keep the negative ones at bay. I know you've struggled for a long time, and I know you are very young. It's too late to say you shouldn't have had the surgery. The only way you're going to feel better is to find some tangible help getting your depression under control and work hard to do this for yourself. It will probably be one of the hardest things you've ever done but I know you can do it if you buckle down and set your mind to it.

7mo post op...I need help
I'm not sure but I think I remember you from a few months ago. I gave you a really hard time and I'm sorry for it. I'm sorry to hear you are still struggling so much. You were given so much good advice last time you posted. Did any of it help? It sounds like from your post you know exactly what you're doing wrong and what you need to change, but I understand it's not always that easy is it? Maybe go back and re-read through the old post (ignoring mine) lol... I know it's really hard but getting back to the very simple basics helps for me. Logging everything, protein first, water. Remember in the beginning how hard it was? But after a little while it got easier before it got hard again?Maybe if you just really make an effort to get back to your program and detox off all the crap again you can get past this. What about your psychologist? You know, they really can't tell your mom so you should take advantage of all the support you can get. Also maybe take a break from all the bad influences for a while. If you know going out to eat is gonna make it impossible for you, then don't go. If you don't cook at all there is still a lot of ok choices you can make. Although not ideal, there is a lot of different frozen dit food that would be better than what you're doing now. I sincerely hope you find your balance. Fyi... I drink through a straw too
