    No carbonation ever again?

I have to agree with most of the post on here... NEVER.. well that is up to you... I feel like the Doctors give us the "road map" and its up to us if we want to be successful and follow it... I am 4 mos post op - i have not had any alcohol or carbonation since a month before my surgery. Once in a while i miss it, but i dont give in because i look at how far i have come & what it took to get here, that sip or drink isnt worth it. Now maybe in a few months when i hit my goal weight i might feel differently... but that will be up to me and not my doctor... I think you just have to think about what is important to you and do what you think is right... it might not be what everyone else is doing but its up to you... this new tummy is only a tool and its up to us to use it good luck to you!!!

    What is your typical day?

Hi MisforMimi, I am only 4 months out - i havent tried salads yet, but when you eat, you have to eat Protein frist... by the time you get to the otherstuff your full. A friend of mine had the sleeve done, she eats salads (spring mix) with some protein (chicken, seafood etc) she is able to get in about 1/2 cup of it down before she is totally full. as the warmer weather approaches i do miss the salads... (was something i ate all the time) but honestly i am so full after a few oz of food... that i dont "really" miss it yet... do you know what i mean? but from the post op meeting i have gone to, there are lots of people who have salad, they just dont have it every day... and always always eat your protein first...

    What is your typical day?

I would try to add in some yogurt, nuts, edamame, string cheese as your mid & afternoon snacks... I would cut the bars out (and just use them if you are on the go & need something quick...) Maybe cut the shakes down to just a few times a week or cut the shakes in half & add some greek yogurt & some fresh fruit to it??? Good luck Oh i am 4 months out, down 68lbs - i "was" walking about 4-5 miles a day but due to a DVT i am only allowed one mile a day... I only drink Water or skim milk - nothing else... no coffee, tea or anything else... this is just an average of what i do... Breakfast: 1 egg white, with 1/2 slice LF Am cheese & little mustard Snack might be one of the following (2 times a day): 1/2 apple - no skin 1/2 bananna 1/2 potein shake 30gm Protein, 1 gm of sugar greek yogurt 100 cal unsweeten Apple sauce w/ protein added string cheese Lunch: usually left overs from dinner the night before 2oz of meat or fish (cant always get the full 2oz down) snack (see above) Dinner: lean meat, chicken or fish - mashed taters or seamed veggies (normal meal is about 2-3oz) Snack: slice of low fat AM cheese or about oz of Cereal with skim milk frozen sf Popsicle or sf pudding

    Updates with pictures

    You look awesome! Congrats!!!
  9. I am 4 months out and since the first day after surgery my taste buds have not been the same. I cannot eat anything that has been processed, no Pasta or breads, anything that has chemicals in it or anything from a Pig… no pork chops, bacon – nothing… My body will actually just project it out of my mouth almost as soon as I put it into it. I know this is a good thing – but when I tell you Bacon use to be one of my food groups… and now I can’t stand the taste of it… it’s pretty crazy. I am actually very thankful… it forces me to eat better. All I drink is bottled Water, skim milk or Protein shakes – nothing else because I can’t take the taste… I use to drink Tea all the time… but now, I don’t like the taste… so weird!! - Doctor said it’s an unexplained phenomenon that has happens to some… that my taste buds could come back in a month, or 6 months or a year – or never… there is no explanation… Has anyone else experienced this??

Anyones Taste Buds Change After Being Sleeved?

Hello Millergirl314, Agreed! Salt totally effects my body differently - i get so puffy after i have had something salty... I only use Sea Salt... i try to drink more Water if i have any thing salty.... I tried a buger the other day and i was able to get in about 3 fork bites... (no roll) it was a little to heavy for my liking... so it might be awhile b4 i try it again... once it gets closer to summer LOL i have to make sure i do my Protein shakes or i dont get in my protein in... Good luck to you in your weight loss

    Blood Clot - DVT

Hi - I am following the doc orders to the letter... trust me this scared me!! I was told in the hospital I was very lucky... I know this is not a joking matter or something to take lightly by any means... I am just struggling within myself... Aj Barefield: I was given shots while in the hospital for my sleeve... but not there after. I was in the hospital for 3 days with my sleeve. when I went back into the hospital for the DTV I was given shots as well as other blood thinners through the IV again I was in the hospital for 3 days. when I came home I had to give myself shots for 10days as well as take an oral blood thinner, but then switched me over to this new blood thinner and all seems better now on this new Rx. Recycled: YES I didn't know this far out from surgery that it was possible to get a DVT either.. Rare... but still possible. and the scary part is I had this nagging pain behind my knee for about 3 weeks before it turned into this unbearable pain. I am VERY lucky... Thank you both for your comments - HAPPY FRIDAY to you both

    Blood Clot - DVT

Hi - I am 4 months out today & down almost 70lbs... about a month ago i ended up in the ER from extreme pain behind my knee (most pain i have ever been in my life & I went though child birth!!) oh and my leg turned blue. (i had some pain for weeks leading up to this & thought that i had just over extended my knee since I was walking about 5 miles a day) Apparenly that is NOT the case... I was in the hosptial for 3 days and now on blood thinners for 6 months - Dr said it was pretty serious... i am feeling good now, but my Primary Dr put me on restricted activities for 3 months... NOTHING till June 30th when i will have another ultra sound... Needless to say i am really upset about this, i am not allowed to do more then a mile of walking a day & not all at once... nothing to get the heart beating fast... no sit-ups, no weights - nothing... I know that this is just a "hiccup" but its really slowed my weight loss - has this happen to any one? they are saying even though at the time of the DVT i was post op 3 month - the blood clot still could have been caused from surgey... Has anyone had a DVT? What types of things did you do to help your weight loss continue?

Anyone Else Cold All The Time?

Oh me too!!! Before Surgery... i was always hot... was sleeved on 12/11/13 and from day one and still 4 months later i am FREEZING... i keep turning up the heat, and my family wants to strangle me (lol) - i wear layers of clothes to bed along with heavy blankets on just my side... its crazy... does anyone know if this passes?
  18. Hi all, I am 5 weeks sleeved yesterday. I haven't counted calories yet, was worried about getting in the Protein and fluids. I just feel like I should have a balance all the way around. Can anyone guide me to a good way to look up calories or web site? I gave away all my WW books... they were my go to thing... and now I just feel lost on this world wide web lol Thanks

    officially a sleever

Congrats on your surgery! I did not have shoulder pain from my sleeve surgery however I did have extreme pain in my shoulder when I had my hysterectomy. As the gas left my body so did the pain in my shoulder. l called my dr about it, that is what he told me it was from. Sorry your experiencing this. Good thing is it wont last long.
  21. So relieved to read all these posts! I had my sleeve done on Dec 11... by Christmas I was down 30lbs and stalled till today... lost 5 more lbs ... I am not getting in all my Protein or Water, but I am going to try Premier Protein shakes, I have read on many other posts that this is the easiest way to get in the protein. I talked to my dr today he said don't weigh yourself every day... only once a week, as hard as it is, he said it is counter productive and will have a negative effect on you. Hang in there, we will get there!
  22. Hi. I had my sleeve on Dec 11th. I went through what you are going through right now. I found the sugar free ice pops & fudge pops, Yoplait Greek vanilla 100 Cal & unsweetened apple sauce with unflavored Protein added in with some cinnamon to be my life savers through this phase just to be able to get something in my body... hopefully it will pass soon for ya. I have found with each phase there are ups & downs & stalls... if you are still having trouble after another day, I would call your Doctor and tell him what you are going through, that's why they are there. good luck!
