. Jenny I had to move my surgery up so I ended up having my surgery the 4th of November. I actually had a good experience and the only struggle I had was the two weeks of full liquid you start to get bored with the same stuff over and over again. But enough with me good luck with your surgery and what a great way to start out the new year.because I have to save up and pay I have to wait until December to have surgery. But I'm still so excited my dream is in sight and I can barely contain myself. I try not to talk to much about the surgery because i don't want my fellow coworkers getting sick of listening to me but i feel like I could burst with excitement.
HAHA right! my coworkers are probably sick of me talking about it. every morning i do a round of updated info ... almost....every morning. i am trying to save up as well. i have my surgery scheduled for the 30th of december but they require i pay half up front so i already told some family memebers to just help chip in for X-mas everyday i just want it to be surgery day i just want it to happen this site is the only thing keeping me sane

Some Dr's give you a defined diet even if you do self pay but you can go to Amazon and get the book '' the big book On the gastric sleeve''. It supposedly has everything you want to know about the gastric sleeve And its only ten dollars. I have it I just haven't started reading it yet. Any way we can get some info in here also. We continue moving forward and getting closer every day. Whooop whooop. Lynnette

.I have 1 and a half pound left before I have reached my pre op goal. I am super early and I imagine it's going to be hard trying to maintain my weight till the end of November. You can do it you are down to just a couple months a way and a few days before you know it your surgery will be here.

So I'm definitely scheduled for Dec 7th yaaaaahhhh. I'm getting excited knowing the surgery is getting closer and everything is going as planned so far. Some days I'm a little nervous but most days I'm just very excited and can't wait for the surgery to happen. Have a Great Day everyone and I hope all your dreams come true. Lynnette

. Welcome and when do you think your going to mexico. I'll be there Dec 7thHi December ladies and gentlemen. I'm coming from the October group. Bummed that I have to wait 8 more weeks, but I'm starting a new job and just couldn't do the time off. I work at a community college so as soon as exams are done...hola Tijuana !
-
. Yah I'm so happy for you. I've got mine scheduled for Dec 7th now and I can't wait. Some days I get a little nervous and wonder will this really work for me? And will I get fat again? But I think that comes with our territory and past failures. So I'm going to continue to think positive and jump this cliff that's holding me back from being healthy. And Dec can't get here soon enough. So I got my date 12/23/13. Before x-mas my gift to myself lol

. Sometimes the chart isn't the important number it'S the getting healthy part that is most important so hang in there and you'll know when your number is goodI am hoping to shed 75 pounds, although those pesky weight charts say I should lose 87 pounds.

. Way to go now the downward slide beginsThanks guys for all the support!
Yep, I got it checked out at 2.5 weeks post op when bleeding was the worst. (So I thought at the time, lol...it got worse haha). Plus my moms' a nurse and midwife so she keeps checking on me every time I complain a little (yerse...I live with my mommy....sue meh...she's old and my kids need extended family, plus hubby loves having her quirky self around so it all works out doesn't it haha!!! ). Both the doctor and my mom think it's just the Mirena and how it is, add the surgery and the weightloss (more so the inches lost, which is more significant by far) and it sort of makes sense. Ultrasound for placement was fine, it's where it's supposed to be.
Now I think about it, I've noticed this pattern with me before, where I get 2-3 months of 3-6 day light-medium light period and am good, but than 1 month comes where I'm on my period for practically the whole month. But it just has never been this heavy. I guess this was that month after the 2-3 months of normality. Darn this ridiculous IUD from the darkest reaches of hell!!!! I'm so close to just getting it taken out...but with the future weight loss I'm really not interested in getting knocked up yet at all lol.
Anyways....on to some good news. So I did the Protein shakes and 2 litre Water thing yesterday (not gonna lie, I had 3 solid meals though, only they were 66 cals each and kept my calories at 528 w/ fat at almost 13g for the whole day, and carbs under 14g and Protein as high as 91g!!!) But I made sure to have my full 2 Protein Shakes and drink all my Water no matter what and I LOST THE 3lbs I'd gained....plus 2 ounces that I was stuck on for almost a week lol!!!
Better believe I'm doing it again today! HAH

For one I think you should see the Dr over your period issue. Maybe the IUD has slipped or ruptured something. Second if all that is happening and your body is in starvation mode then it is doing everything possible to protect you by saving every calorie it can get. Third if you give your body to few calories then again it will save every blessed calorie it can so don't give up keep eating healthy and see your gyno and the weight will come off. HANG IN THEREWell, I've been on the longest period of my life since a week after I got my surgery. So pretty much I had the week of my surgery (6 days) with no period. Had my period before those 6 days off, and still have my period since those 6 days off. Super heavy. Way different for me. I'm thinking this surgery totally threw my hormones off because I've never had a period this long and this ridiculously heavy either!!! Sure I've originally had wonky periods ever since this hellish Mirena (IUD) but, none this long. And the fact that it all wraps around the surgery...well....yeah.
Ugh...sometimes I just want to tell myself that IT IS the period....but goodness, that's depressing seeing as it doesn't seem it's ever going to stop at this rate. LOL

I'm sorry this happened to you but it just cements your decision to have surgery and all the struggles you've been through to get to this point this is just one more step to your freedom and nothing should get in your way stay strong and just keep moving forward and soon you'll be where you want to be. One step at a time

. Which Dr. Did you use in MexicoYou are just too cute! Congrats on your success. I was sleeved in Mexico a last week for the same reasons. BMI was 37. Healthy, but with all the diabetes and other issues that my Dad suffers from, I decided to go to Mexico and make the lifestyle changes. I want to ride a horse next summer. Probably I'll pick a bigger one than the one you did. Hahaha

dear slvrsax maybe I'll see in tj in December

have you considered going to Mexico a gastric sleeve is about $5000 and that includes everything except the plane ticket. it is also with some of the best surgeons. I know some people won't consider it but I've done a lot of research and it is just as safe as having surgery in america but half the price. just a thought for you since you are self payWell, I was leanly heavily toward going to Dallas and have Dr. Nicholson do it. But I went to a seminar at a local place (I live in TN) and am rethinking leaving home to have it done. I just need to see if it's worth almost 6K more to stay close to home (12,200 vs 18,000-something). As I'm trying to limit the amount I finance, if I go to Dr. Nick I can have it done this year - staying close to home I may have to wait until next year.
-
where are you thinking of having the surgery done since you are self pay?I am keeping my fingers crossed for December. I will be going the self-pay route, but want to wait until my Fall semester classes are done (I teach at a community college). Also gives me time to save some $$$ before the surgery.
-
. I guess since I've been overweight for almost 30yrs a few more months won't kill me. But I wish it would just hurry up and get here. And I hope your surgery goes well.I am scheduled for Sept 11, but my husband is waiting until December because of winter break (teacher). He says it seems so far away too. I'm trying to get him to join these boards so he can connect with others!

. Weighdownsouth I'm going to Mexico in December may I ask who your surgeon is going to beI really like this thread. I'm Amy, 33 5"0" and currently between 200-220. I have recently been diagnosed with pcos after years of irregular periods. I'm a mom of 2 (2,4) and foster (soon to be adoptive) mom to two more 10,11). I've been overweight since age 9 and just realized that I've been gaining and losing the same 40 pounds for 20 years.
My family thinks I should just "buckle down" and do it on my own. After all, I've done it before... Um, u got down to 160 ten years and two kids ago, was completely unhealthy and chain smoked. I can't do that again!
They think the surgery is only for people with much more to lose. I need to lose roughly 100 pounds! So, I'm off to Mexico in October and taking this leap. Could this really be the last summer that's swimming wardrobe includes layers and shame? Will I be hiking with my husband and children next summer instead of watching tv and posting here?
Omg I hope so! I love reading your posts (especially the other shorties). Keep up your hard work.

congrats to all of you newly sleeved lite weights. I don't get to be sleeved until Dec 2013( can't get here soon enough ) I'm 5'5" and weigh 225 lbs. I've been up and down since having my first child 28yrs ago no less then 140 lbs and no higher yet then 230 lbs. I'm like so many of you just sssooooo tired of the rollar coaster. a bit about me I met my hubby when I was 16yrs old and weighed 110 lbs after being together for a yr I ended up pregnant and he hasn't seen me under a 140 since then. I started having problems with my thyroid at age 21 and have been taking meds ever since. over the last ten yrs though I have really started having problems like high bp, acid reflux, back pain that won't go away, low HDL and normal LDL which makes me High risk for heart attack, and I'm sure I'm pre diabetic. doesn't that make me sound like fun. but truly I can't wait to be sleeved I've been dreaming of this ( or something like this ) for many years and it will finally happen this year wooooo whhhooooo !! and all of your stories have made it even clearer for me because we all worry will this really work this time. hope I can get to know some of you better but if not I atleast have read some good encouragement have a great day

June 18th sleeve....soooo hungry
in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story

I had my sleeve done last November and the first month is long but as you settle in to the sleeve and get used to eating very small portions you can eat almost anything. If I want something very bad I will take a bite and be done with it . but I tend to eat normal foods now just waaaaayyyy less. Just one thing about me when I went into this I new I would not follow the sugar free diet but I am learning to choose healthier options and I'm down 68 lbs now and have about 15 to 20 lbs more to go. I feel much better now and that was my ultimate goal. So hang in there and take it one day at a time for now. Try and stick to the full liquids then the pureed foods and then the soft foods for as long as necessary so things heal properly you have the rest of your life to eat food in its normal texture. Welcome to the losers bench. Lynnette
