  1. I'm not terribly worried about insurance I paid for my surgery to begin with, I was just looking to see if others did the same! I only have 20lbs left to my surgeons goal and 30 to mine but he thinks I have at least 10# of skin...so technically I'm 10lbs from his goal for me! I've lost 63lbs and am 5' tall, so I've lost over 60% of my excess weight. He is ecstatic! I am very physically active so this would be a Godsend to have it done as a first step as I would be suffering a while bc we intend on having a baby next year so my big plastics will have to wait a few years! He is also thinks it would be beneficial bc I'll be having a third csection to get the pannis out of the way! I say good riddance!
  2. Hey guys I'm about 25# from my goal weight and have a large pannis, I've had it all along but as you know with weight loss it's become increasingly droopy and floppy! I am now running and it's painful, I have to buy smaller bottoms so they hold it in place(which is also not that comfy) I keep it clean but have had yeast growth which I also treat and manage well! I saw my surgeon yesterday for my 6 month appt and he was so pleased with my progress, I asked him about the possibility of removing this prior to the end of my journey bc it's making life increasingly painful and also my PT thinks it hanging down has restricted the way my hips move both seated(they rotate out instead of neutral) and also obviously exercising...anywho my question is to see if anyone has undergone a Panni initially with the intentions to have a full tummy tuck(amongst more plastics) later down the road? I should add that the TT and plastics are a few years down the road for me bc we'd like to hAve one more child!
  3. I'm obsessed with these rice paper wraps today it's a Turkey Caesar Wrap with my friend's homemade Caesar dressing! YUM!
  4. Spring rolls with lettuce, avocado, carrots, scallions and half a Boca Burger made some super low cal peanut dipping sauce too! I could eat this every.single.day!
  5. Feel like in the beginning when I was released to all food that the amount I could eat was consistent, I would measure it would always be one bite less than my portion...nowadays I've slacked on measuring but for the most part if I'm eating the same or similar thing, one day I can eat the entire thing, the next not even close! It's so odd to me! Here's an example...I ate the entire lunch a couple days ago then today this is all I could finish! So weird, it's the same with salads which I often eat(always meat mostly first) but some days I could eat my whole serving others I stop so early odd!

    Weird Post Op Question

You take oil most often I've heard coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for a period of time I read 20 mins in one blog and said forget it I couldn't do it! It's supposedly removes toxins and also kills bacteria, increasing your immune system as well...I may try once, but I can't imagine 20 mins with oil in my mouth! Hmmmm!

    MAJOR regrets

I'm so sorry you are having a rough time, I hope your doc can get you more comfortable and manage the acid ASAP! Hang in there!
  8. Maybe try some sugar free Popsicles when you get home they melt slower so your "sips" are smaller and maybe they'll help numb your throat. I had them a lot in the beginning as another method to get fluids in! Good luck and hang in there I'm pretty sure the hernia repair was the most pain I experienced and mine wasn't even that big!

Hair loss, evidence with picture and me bitching...

Well said! It's a bit traumatic no matter how prepared you are!

Hair loss, evidence with picture and me bitching...

Haha well then it's a double whammy bc I had read the human hair will keep the deer away from eating your plants bc they smell it! So perfect we can all have hairy plants keeping the hair close to home at least I do miss my thick hair I have at least lost 60% but last year I had lost 20lbs pretty quickly and I lost some hair for 6 mos dispute gaining it back, it did stop and started to regrow but now with surgery I've just lost a ton more! I go back and forth between keeping it this length (just past shoulders) or getting a stacked bob, at least with it longer I can out it up! What is everyone's plan if it gets super super thin?

Hair loss, evidence with picture and me bitching...

Same here girl! It's so scary having it fall out in clumps in the shower and brush! Even if we knew to expect it! I've decided to save mine and spread it on my Hostas as the deer ate every bite last year and when I read what to do it said human hair and I was like "ok wtf do I do pull my hair out!?" Now I don't have to Silver linings and all that

    any Boise Idaho newbies

I've lived in Boise twice but now live in VA! What I wouldn't give for a Zen Salad from Zen Bento right now, but alas it can't eat rice for another 7 months lol! Oh yeah and the distance thing! Best of luck to you, boy do I miss the foot hills views, but I don't really want to move back either!

    Single digit sizes! (Pic)

Wow!!!! I'm also so inspired by your posts and this one is a great example! You look wonderful! So happy & healthy! Look at how far you've come with hard work! I am on exercise restrictions bc I've had an enlarged spleen since one month post op, but goodness I need to work out bc the skin is just gross, with you you can't even tell or imagine you were ever over weight! Congrats girl! PS have you had much hairloss? I am having it rough, lost over 50% of my hair so far all in a month's time! :/ keeping my protein high but sometimes these things just occur!

    Panniculectomy in 2 weeks.

This is awesome thanks sooooo much for sharing! I am only 4 mos post sleeve and had a pannis to begin with but man now that it's not as plump it is even more floppy and uncomfortable :/ I am looking forward to when I can get mine GONE! Again thanks for the candidness it really helps people who are just thinking about the process. Congrats you look amazing! I dream of a size 4 skinny jeans
  17. This is GREAT thanks so much! I have a chart too thanks to my hubby haha...I was astounded to see it all laid out there this weekend, -33inches and -54lbs in 4 mos 1 week! Everyday I feel like I am such a sloooooow loser but man on my own I would've never been able to lose this much! I think keeping track and seeing it laid out "on paper" really talks me down off the proverbial ledge!!! Thanks for sharing and great work! I can't wait to get down to "overweight" BMI and I am sooo close

OMG I am so confused it is the FIRST Thursday of the month! So NOT this week, next week! Sorry Y'all! Hmmm all my preop stuff was super fast bc I was self pay so I can't really remember and I was Woodbridge at that point so I met with Dr. Halmi each time! Are you meeting with Tiffany? If so she is WONDERFUL! I usually dread seeing PAs would rather just see my doctor, but she is really so sweet and kind and I always feel great when I leave an appt with her! Super positive and supportive! I had EGD, Ultrasound, Bloodwork, Chest X-ray and I think that's it!!! They gave me a sheet that I had to complete I think within two weeks of the surgery which for me was I had two weeks to do it all bc I booked one month from my first appt! Craziness! Have you met with the psychologist yet? That's another preop appt. Also nutritionist and John the Exercise dude! All are super nice! I'd love to help out in anyway I can bc I was blessed to meet a gentleman at support group who was super supportive through my surgery (he had his a couple months before me) He and his wife even came to see me in the hospital! It was so nice to have someone who had been through it all! I'm here for anything so ask away! I hope you guys can make it to group next week! I really look forward to it!
  20. My nut recommended light Hellmans, which is what we already used, maybe use that and cut with some Greek yogurt? My nut said no fat free anythingn bc it's loaded with sugars, everyhinf in moderation!

That's awesome! Congrats on the big success! I am so bummed I had wanted to run in the DC Color Run with a friend but my spleen has been severely enlarged since abt a month after surgery and I am on strict no exercise precautions :/ I can walk an heck I am not gonna walk when I fell like I COULD run for the first time since I was a teenager! Enjoy you deserve it, I hope you have a blast!

    Fave protien snack?

I was aloud Beef Jerkey at 8 weeks that being said, I enjoy low sodium beef jerky daily also love low sodium almonds, Greek yogurt, deli ham wrapped around a cheese stick and two slices of kosher doll sandwich pickles(tho I count that as a meal) Light American Cheese slice with part of an apple, part of an apple with peanut butter, and Laughing Cow light cheese wedges...I count my protein shake as a snack and I'm really not supposed to eat other snacks in addition to my 3 meals and two shakes a day but sometimes I gotsta eat something!

    Before and After Pics

Four months out tmw and as always I'm on my phone so this is my only pre full body shot. I was so excited to grab a 16 to try on then find it was too big, then try the 14 and realize I could probably get dressed and go grab the 12, but that's a sizing fluke! But I was soooo ecstatic in that Target dressing room! Last week I hit my first BIG Milestone 50lbs LOST!!!!! Surgery Nov 20th 2013 PreOp Diet: 211 SW: 202.5 CW: 159 Ps yes that's a piece of my hair on the scale!! It's definitely everywhere in this house! I am getting a bit nervous of how thin it is but I knew to expect it, but ouch it's shocking!

    Bluepoint Surgical Group

I started as a Woodbridge patient(long story) but changed to Fairfax about 6 weeks ago and I am way happier there! Plus I live west of Manassas so that was way too far! Have you guys gone to any of the support groups yet!? I've not tried Fairfax but from what I hear ours in Woodbridge is better and smaller! Sadly the dietitian who ran it just moved so the new lady is just taking over but we welcome anyone to come to the meetings, lots of preoppers there! Dr Halmi is usually there to open up the discussion and we have had some cool guest speakers! The Unjury folks came one time and a plastic surgeon! It's always the last Thursday night of the month at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge I think it's the education building but call the office to get the actual info! My hubby and I will be there next week as we always are!!! If y'all want I can bring my stuff I don't use if you want it!
