Do you hope to get smaller than your goal? Why or why not?
BookWorm replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Have you asked your NUT? Not really because I don't like her and I haven't done the research yet to find someone I do like. -
Do you hope to get smaller than your goal? Why or why not?
BookWorm replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This topic couldn't have been posted at a more prevalent time as I'm struggling with this conversation daily in my family. I am large boned and 5'4 1/2 weighing 160 with ample bust (34DD) that hasn't shrunk w/ my weight loss. My original goal was 150lbs. I think I hide my weight well because everyone, I mean everyone says that I shouldn't lose anymore weight and I'm skinny. Never in my life would I consider myself skinny but part of that could be that I still see the old self in the mirror. I think I'm at a point where I want to be out of the "obese" category when I step on the scale and at 5'4 1/2 (yes, I'm claiming the 1/2) and at 160lbs I'm still considered obese. Like the original poster, as the weight has come off I've become more obsessed and thought, why limit myself on how small I can get. So, to answer the original post, yes, I would like to be a size 0; however, if you asked my friends and family they would tell you I should stay where I am and be happy. -
Hate to break it to you but things may get worse as you lose the weight. Resentment, insecurities, etc.

Gallbladder - Complication of Surgery
BookWorm posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just found out that those excruciating pains I've been experiencing on my right side and the debilitating heartburn (what I thought was heartburn) is actually problems with my gallbladder. Anyone else have to have theirs removed as a result of surgery? -

Had the gallbladder removed! Rough the first week but I'm back in the saddle. Things are much better! No problems otherwise, with exception of constipation. Will take that any day over the gallbladder pain. -
Everything I read says this happens after the surgery. My DR says no. I'm freaking out. I don't want to be chained to a bathroom

Check your gallbladder, is the loose stool accompanied w/ pain? Is the stool oily? I know that sounds gross but I'm experiecing this as well and found out I have to have my gallbladder out.

Gallbladder - Complication of Surgery
BookWorm replied to BookWorm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine started about 3 months ago with what I thought was a runner's cramp or runner's stitch. I run roughly 3-4 miles a day and would experience a sharp pain or cramp under my right bottom rib. Then the pain would come and go all the time, didn't matter what I was doing. Last month I had what I would call my first "attack", usually at night. It was like someone lit a flame in my stomach that would radiate up my chest accompanied by horrible pressure that would take my breath away and severe vomiting. It would last for 3 hours and then finally go away. I made an appointment w/ my primary care doctor thinking that it was severe acid reflux. Primary care DR referred me to by gastric doctor. Had an ultrasound done and that's all she wrote. -

It took about 3-4 months before my problems started to manifest. Here's hoping things stay on the up and up! -

Bypass and blood clotting disorder

I did stay an extra day in the hospital because my white blood count was off; however, that was the only complication. You will be fine. At this point, like me, you have been doing this for awhile so you are used to getting prodded with a needle. However, if your lucky, my hemotologist now has a finger stick to check INR so I don't have to get my blood taken per say every month. I just get my finger pricked. -

Yes, I was recommended for a filter; however, went for a second and third opinion. Two out of three said no, that things could be managed through the coumadin, Vitamins and a healthy lifestyle. I can't go near estrogen and stay away from all those Vitamin k enriched foods. I switched off of the lovenox shortly after getting home. I went back to work w/in a week and was walking the day after I got home. -

Yes, I have Factor V leiden deficiency and have been on blood thinners for over 15 years. I have a history of blood clots both times in my lungs. You will be fine! I had to transition off of my coumadin and take the lovenox prior to surgery. Not a big deal unless you can't give yourself shots. They will have you up and walking, blood on standby just in case and will be in more frequent then you will like to check your levels. -
Anyone drink smoothies from Smoothie King after surgery?
BookWorm replied to ShayLove's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
YES! Love the gladiator. I buy the small shake and it replaces 2 of my meals. I also bought the gladiator powder for home and add my own fruit. This is the only protien powder I can tollerate. -
Had wine for the first time this weekend since before surgery. I would say your only problem will be potentially heartburn, which I got and I was buzzed off of 2 glasses.

Help! Best Shock-Absorbing Walking Shoes?
BookWorm replied to WorldTraveler's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I agree with the shoe fitting recommendations. I swear by Saucony. They recommend that you buy two pairs of running shoes and alternate them each day. Good luck! -
Started my liquid diet today.

First 7 days will be the hardest. Stay busy! Walk away when you feel the cravings come on and drink Water when you want to grab for something to eat. This part is a mind game. You can do it! -
YOU ARE ME! I haven't worn a dress since prom. I eloped for my wedding so I never wore a dress! I am also 5'5 and 170lbs. I was thinking that I could probably wear a dress but I'm so overwhelmed I don't know where to begin. I saw the post about a potential wrap dress; however, I think my boobs (the only thing that hasn't reduced) are to big plus I still have the baby flap over so I would have to wear some major spanks to fit into the little black dress. Shorter would work since I'm not tall, but again, the process is very overwhelming.

Spend the extra money for the emergency exit seat and that way you can go with any airline. This seat tends to have more room.

Anytime I run I feel pain on my right side. Interested in hearing what others think this is.

Few questions - 3 weeks post-op
BookWorm replied to NittanyLion's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Fatigue is common and as you introduce solid food and exercise this will get better. Upset stomach is normally ask for anti nausea medicine to help manage or eat smaller "meals" (I use the word loosely) closer together if eating helps to settle your stomach. Nausea could really be a symptom of heartburn so check w/ your doctor about getting on some heartburn meds. Giver your body time. All of these things will work themselves out.
