If you have a smart phone they have several calorie counting apps. I love My Net Diary bc it will look up anything (generic and brand name items) and give you the full nut value not just calories. Then when you track it, at the end of the day it tallies up your total Protein, calories, fat, carbs etc.

  3. Thanks! I've been thinking about this, and I realized that I have grown to be dependent of myfitnesspal, and I have not gone a day without logging food in since my surgery. So I'm terrified of being left with only myself to calculate what I eat. I will not have it of course, because Internet is very expensive on cruises so I cannot afford that. But I am terrified of not being able to use it every time I eat. How do I go about that? I keep thinking. I don't know how many grams of Protein are in each thing. I know, I'm a little obsessed with knowing the protein count of everything.

Make yourself a cheat sheet of generic items. Portion size, nutritional info and calories. Also they will have computers on the ship that is much cheaper to access. Try and log on once a day for a few minutes or every other day. That might help you feel more in touch with your food logs :)

  4. I need some advice. Anyone has gone on a cruise so soon after surgery? I don't know what I should be eating? All I eat now is Greek yogurt, babybel, Premier Protein, and some other Protein drinks/bars. I'm still not used to my sleeve and havent really been eating "real" food. The cruise is in a few weeks (about 4) and I'm starting to freak out a little.

While I haven't been on a cruise POST OP, I have recently went on a cruise and I thought about what they had. First let me say there's a TON of options!! At every restaurant they are very happy to accommodate and please their guests. All the buffets have Soups, yogurts, cottage cheese, applesauce, scrambled eggs etc. If I were in your shoes, I would pack stuff from home just in case. There will be a fridge in your room.

    Have so much fun!!! :)

  5. hey guys im new to this forum. Im getting my sleeve done in Tijuana on December 30th, just wondering if anyone else wil be there at the same time?

Hi Mbindra! We are surgery date buddies! There are 4 others on the 30th. We call ourselves the "caboose" for December Sleevers.... We can learn so much from all the people who are earlier on the month! I'm getting my VSG in Massachusetts.

  6. Hi, I'm getting done on 12/2. Had preop today. No issues with Cigna approval. I had read some horror stories. The only bummer is surgery is not until 4:00 in the afternoon. I will be a wreck and probably won't get up into my room until after 10 pm. I know how important is to get up and walk and am afraid I will be wiped. Getting surgery with Dr. Julie Kim at Mt. Auburn in Cambridge, MA. Good luck to all December sleevers. What a way to start 2014.

Hi MASSGUY! I'm from mass too! My surgery is 12/30 at Lahey Burlington. Best wishes in your journey! :)

  7. Hello!!! I have not heard from the Baratric center but I called my INC and they said YES I'm approved!!!! December 30th is my life changing day. I originally was approved for gastric bypass was two weeks away from surgery and it did not feel right, I could not get over the malabsorption, and losing the bottom part of your stomach that lets alittle food out at a time Into your intestines. So I now feel really good I'm ready for a new life!

Congrats!! We are surgery date buddies! There's 3 of us....we are the caboose if the December group!! Whoo-hoo :)

  8. Lol' date=' thanks! I take happy pills that have mysteriously been more potent in the last 1 month plus! My last increase (for anxiety) was in Juny but suddently in late September I just have been in the best mood! lol My Jeep broke down IN Atlanta in Friday afternoon rush hour and i was like, okay...whatever. I called the mechanic on Tuesday and he tells me my Jeep is dead, that's it, no more Jeep and again, okay....whatever! Husband did the laundry, ruined a cute shirt....laughed! Fell down randomly in the parking lot....not even a curse word! I told my hubby he better take advantage of this great mood because after surgery I may be a ridiculous hormonal mess! lol Right now, we are just enjoying the good mood! Happy wife, Happy life! lol[/quote']

I'll have what you're having! ;) sounds great!!

My husband say Happy Wife, Happy Life too!! :)

  9. Okay' date=' I added sknyinside and moved Simpley_ke up to the dates section! Was hoping to move myself today; however, that didn't happen. I called the office and actually reached the scheduler. She said she had my chart "right there" and needed to see if the doc had signed off on it. She put me on hold and I never spoke to her again! I waited and waited and then the phone started ringing and went to her voicemail. I waited 20 minutes and called back. I was put on hold and waited and waited and it went to voicemail again. Stinks. Seems like if it was right there I should have been able to schedule my date. Oh well....here's hoping for tomorrow![/quote']

AtlantaRed, if you don't get a date soon....we can storm the office for you....all 80+ of us! That might help her find the chart that's "right in front of her" LOL!!!

Seriously tho, I pray you get the call tomorrow...you are far more patient then I would be :)

  10. Yes ma'am' date=' I've completed everything! Gl next week. Im w u on the one night thing bc I reaaly do.t want to b bringn in the New year on a hospital bed, so prayerfullly, we will only b there up until New Year's:). What are ur stats? If ud rather pm me its fine but mine are 5'3, 232, yuck![/quote']

Oh yea, I haven't posted my stats yet.

36yo 5'3" HW 290 CW 275 no comorbities but diabetes and heart disease run rampant on both sides of family. I have hashimotos thyroid and I'm insulin resistant. But other then that "healthy" hahaha!!! I have BCBS and they were so easy to deal with. Submitted on Fri approved on Monday. So thankful, bc I hear others have such a hard tie with insurances.

  11. Well' date=' just lmk how I may help u, if need be. I also have a 2 week liq of Protein Drinks, Jello, clear broths, n sf popsicles. Just based on my own count, I assume the 16th - 29th shud b when I start. He shud lmk for sure on the 13th which is the preop with him. They said I wi.t know the time of surgery until the day b4. Do UK yet? So, we will b rowing n the same boat:).[/quote']

We are definitely in the same boat! I don't know the time of surgery either. From what they told me they prioritize the people in order taking people with diabetes and sugar issues first. I'm hoping it's in the morning bc I would love to only spend 1 night at the hospital. Have you completed all your requirements? I have finished all but 1 NUT visit which is next week. Praying the next 8 weeks fly by.....I'm soooo READY!!!

  12. Hey there Els n glad to b your caboose buddy:)) And I agree' date=' what a way to say goodbye to the old and hello to our new healthy lives. Can't wait to cheer us all on and encourage as needed awa b cheered on nd encouraged. When do u do ur preop diet, if any? Gl Decemberssss![/quote']

My surgeon requires a 2 week Protein Shake only diet. Then day before surgery Clear Liquids only. So my biggest hurdle will be Christmas. But, I figure I'll be 10 days in on diet so it might be easier since I'll be over the initial cranky withdrawal stage :)

    How about your preop?

  13. DeezJeanz' date=' I know you were soooo hoping for an earlier date but this group really needed a Dec 30 person for elsnanny to have a surgery buddy! Welcome to our December group!![/quote']

AtlantaRed, you are so sweet to watch out for me!! Yay, I have a surgery buddy :)

DeezJeanz, we will have all these December people go before us so they give us advice and what to expect! We can be the Caboose of the group and bring in the end of the month and year!!!

  14. I have 2 jobs. One job' date=' a nanny, I only women 2 days a week and I will take one week off there. The other job, I work at my computer 4 hours a night. I will be lucky to get 2 nights off starting postop day #3 or 4.[/quote']

I'm a nanny too! I'm taking 2 weeks off. I had my gallbladder out last year and went back after a week so I gave myself a generous window of time for the sleeve. My nanny kids are 6, 4 and 2, but I only work 8-3 and the two older kids are at school all day and the 2yo sleeps from 12-3. So realistically 4 hours of "work" a day. Hoping I'll be ok :)

  15. Welcome to all of the newcomers and newly confirmed dates! I'm not on my desktop much on the weekend's but as soon as I am' date=' I will add everyone to the list and get it updated! Fir those interested, Vixey has started a secret Facebook group for us. Contact her if you'd like to join! Its a secret group so no one can see your activity in the group or even that you're in it.[/quote']

I've tried to contact Vixey 3 different ways and I'm not getting thru?!?!

Vixey if you read this...how can I be added?

    Thanks! :)

  16. Tentatively set for Dec 30 :) have cleared all testing but an upper gi which is soon. 38yr old 5'1 260lbs I too was always thin - at 12 weeks pregnant with my first child I was a mere 112lbs - I ended up gaining 68lbs. Lost most of it and 4 yrs later had my 2nd child gained a lot again didn't lose much after and 16 months later had my last child - the excess weight NEVER came off. I have contemplated WLS for years and finally just said "I'm doing it" I actually should have had it back in October but my mom had such a hard time with it that I postponed it - i can happily say I now have her support and look forward to my surgery!!!

YAY! I have a surgery buddy!! I'm 12/30 too! What a great way to ring in a New Year!!
