  1. I had a TT on June 17 and low and behold my cycle started that morning. I told the nurse when I checked in at the surgery center they said no tampons, but she gave me a pad to use during surgery. Everything went fine. I would certainly call your surgeon's office to confirm that there won't be an issue.

    Best wishes on your TT!

  2. I was sleeved September 2013 and remember the early weeks of not being able to eat and the gas pains, it does get better. Something that helped me get in Protein was adding unflavored Protein to broth. I actually got chicken broth from our favorite Chinese restaurant then mixed in the unflavored powder (let the broth cool before mixing it in or the powder gets lumpy). The temperature of what I was eating/drinking was better at lukewarm or room temperature having always been someone that needed everything ice cold to drink this was a surprise.

Remember to stay hydrated in the early days. Then build in the protein.

    Warm wishes your way!

  3. I would say that you friend's situation is definitely not normal. I was sleeved September 2013 and have no issues with eating or swallowing causing me pain, unless I eat rapidly and do not not chew thoroughly. Follow your surgeon's advice for progressing through food stages, do not try to progress too quickly and if something does not agree with your new stomach give it a week and try the food again.

I had issues in the beginning with eating too quickly and with advice from someone on this forum, I downloaded an app "eat slower" and that helped me.

Good luck with your sleeve surgery. This best decision I have ever made.

  4. I had Brachioplasty and a breast lift on January 14th and I was not nervous at all going into it. During the pre surgery mark up, I suddenly got very lightheaded and fainted not once, but twice. No harm done and my surgeon was very understanding he said that it happens every once in a while. I was so embarrassed though because all the nurses ran into the room both times.

On my past 2 follow up appointments before he shows me the incision site he asks me if I am going to faint and then chuckles. Guess I will be forever known as the "the fainter. "

  5. I too am a store manger. You should make them aware of medical procedure' date=' you do not need to be specific as to what you are having done . I know you said it was not quite a year, but you should qualify for a either an FMLA or short term disability leave (unpaid). But at least they would be required to hold your job. Calling out on such short notice, will leave them in a bind especially if they have grooming appts lined up.[/quote']

  7. I made the mistake of reading the August Sleevers. Argh not good reads. I shouldn't have read it' date=' now my tummy is doing flip's. I know that no ones surgery is the same. Just like none of us are the same. Will people who have surgery for September give their stories of surgery, I know it'll take a day or 2. I am fully aware of things that can happen, and somewhat to be prepared for it, & I also know if complications arise then it's better to be at the hospital rather than at home wondering. I figure tomorrow I had better make some "just in case" plans for home & work. Then if I don't use the plan it'll be ok. It's not going to Detour me. I know where I want & need to be.

Good luck all, I hope everyone has a speedy recovery![/quote']

I had my surgery yesterday at 2pm. I was walking by 7. I am sore, but no nausea or heart burn. Another poster said it was similar to how you would if you did hundred crunch sit-ups. I agree. I am with someone else that was sleeved yesterday and she feels great too.

  8. Hey guys! I'm on the 2nd September' date=' too! Except, I'm in the United Kingdom. It'd be good to keep in touch to see how each of us are getting on. I'm bricking it!! How are you guys feeling? <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I'm so worried about losing my hair, losing my boobs and having so much spare skin, I could re-cover the sofa with it, I don't know what to focus on first![/quote']

Sounds great! Count me in. Having mine in TJ. I reside in Chicago. I love to hear how all the Sept 2 people progress.

  9. Hi Everyone!

I am having VSG in TJ on Sept 2nd. I know there were some responses but I just can't seem to find it where there were some of you going to Mexico for surgery on 9/2. I would love to put a group of friends together in my email so we can chit chat and help each other on our journey. I know there is a Facebook page out there' date=' however I am really computer challenged. I would love to get that link to the facebook page again or reply to this and I will send you my email address. I think the more people I have around me the better I will be when I am having one of those days!

    Thanks for all the help

I am having mine in TJ on September 2, too. I will be at the Marriott staying 1st-6th. I would certainly like to meet up and have a "buddy". Love to have someone to compare notes with as we go through this new life change.
