  1. I was a little lower BMI but you are about where I was after 6 days on the diet. I lost 13 lbs and it was ok. I think it is much more important for higher BMI patients.
  2. The only thing they did was check how much I lost on the pre op diet. I guess they figure if you lost the right amount your liver will be ok. One of the people that got sleeved the same day backtoBarb and I did not lose as much as he should have. they had trouble with the surgery but they did do it.
  3. Hi. Sounds to me you are not in a good head space and have not been for awhile. Even the name you chose seems very sad. You are not being honest with the people who can really help you. What do you think would help you at this point? I don't think you are broken. Your choice is to continue as you have been and nothing changes for the positive, or go back to your food plan and see what happens. I think we all have a bit of the feeling that "this won't work for me," and we know we can make that true with our choices. Maybe you have a large portion of "I don't deserve this." What happens to you goes from this point. What do you choose? By the way, the hair thing is normal and will stop. Any time the body goes through trauma it releases the hairs that are in line to be released one at a time, all at once.
  4. You look younger. Beautiful!
  5. Mine says 5 minutes before and 45 minutes after.

When people ask "How did you lose weight?"

    Eating less and exercising more.

    sick of not loosing

There are as many ways to get from point a to point b as there are people. I'm a slow loser but I am happy I am losing. If I were younger, more fit, a different metabolism, but I'm me and this is how I lose.
  8. One thing that is hard to really judge pre op is how your tastes change after the operation. I'm not very interested in sweet things now. So many of the drinks and shakes are sweet that I'm much more interested in savory things. The scrambled egg with a little cheese I had for my first real food tasted better than anything I could imagine. I keep reminding everyone that I'm old. That and lower BMI seem to make me a slow loser. Three weeks on Monday and just 8 lbs down from the day of surgery. But 22 from before pre-op. It's slow but I'm sure I will get where I want to be.
  9. I'd be happy with 14 lbs. In the same time I've lost 8.
  10. I take the Enspira vitamins too. I have had no trouble swallowing them from about a week and a half after surgery. I have been a little worried that I was able to eat too much. I can eat a whole gee with no problem. Today I found my limit. After the egg at lunch I tried to eat some greek yogurt. after 2 bites I was very uncomfortable. I had to get up and walk around the house for a few minutes. I found it again at dinner when I ate about a quarter cup of refried beans. One more spoonful and it was too much. I'm glad the sleeve works.
  11. My left side hurt during pre op. I think it was too much acid.

    Fast Weight Gain :(

I just know it makes it harder to lose if not. also if you aren't getting the protein in you may be eating too many carbs.

Are you getting enough protein and fluids?

    3 Month Stall Help

Are you drinking enough water and getting enough protein? Exercise adds muscle which weighs more than fat. Find a scale that measures fat content of your body. My NUT told me that is the number to watch. not weight or BMI.

    sick of not loosing

To be a stall you need to have not lost pounds or inches for two months or more. Pauses are normal in this process. Check your measurements and don't worry about the scale for a bit. Your body id changing. How do your clothes fit? Think of how long you have carried the weight. Most of us have the same experience that you are having. some lucky people shed weight quickly. It will go.
  16. So much of our culture blames people who are overweight. No one blames the food manufacturers who design food to be addictive. No one blames the way our lives have changed so most of us are not walking or moving in our day to day lives. Of course you deserve this! It's not your fault that your body is thrifty with fuel. It's the way you were born and the way this world had evolved. I wish I could have had this surgery when I was 32. I'm happy I had it at 66. Good for you for taking care of yourself!
  17. I'm 11 days out and have lost 5lbs.

Denied for Conversion - Slipped Band

Mexico and self pay is an option.
  19. My doctor, Ariel Ortiz, has his own line of protein powder and vitamins. I am taking them and thriving. I saw the Nut there before surgery and was given a lot of printed information and encouraged to call her anytime.
  20. I had surgery with Dr Ariel Ortiz on October 7. I am so happy I went with him! I had no pain and little discomfort. No throwing up, no dry heaves, no feeling like it. He triple staples then folds the edges in and staples again. The Obesity Control Center is a center of excellence, using the same standards as the US. He has done over 10,000 of these surgeries. It is all he does. He teaches in the US. One thing I really liked about his clinic was that weight loss surgery is all they do. That means no sick people come to the clinic. No bad germs, no infections. Dr Ortiz has very few complications. I recommend him highly.

    Okay, seriously?! :/

Red peppers have more vitamin C than oranges. I ate a lot of them when I was on Atkins.
  22. Mysisterthedoctor tells me I need to get 90 grams of protein a day in to keep from losing muscle. She had the surgery too and has researched the ins and outs of it. She is doing fantastic and I'm doing very well.

    Any Michigan Sleevers?

I live in the UP but was sleeved October 7 in Mexico by Dr Ariel Ortiz.
  24. Gatorade or coconut water might help.

    Drains or no drains?

I had a drain. I think it contributed to my excellent experience. No pain, little discomfort. I'm on day 9 and still feel well.
