Thanks to all of the suggestions, I am now officially smoke free for 48 hours! It doesn't sound like a lot, but I haven't had any major problems. I think conquering the driving is a HUGE deal. I can stay busy the rest of the time:)

We have started telling my 3 year old that mommy is going to have surgery and will need to be an extra big boy. Since he is kind of a mama's boy, we are hoping it works:)

My husband is so supportive that he is going to take me around town to find some what we have here. Otherwise, I am ordering online tomorrow!

I am so new to this non smoking thing (9 hours:) ). What is the difference between a regular ecig and a vapor with no nicotine? I can order online but I'm wondering if some of the non nicotine varieties are available in stores. I live in a pretty small town but I think we have a few gas stations that carry ecigs!

I love th ideas and support. I never smoked with kids in the car so I have volunteered to run carpool for 7 boys this week. I am headed to the store for supplies since I actually flushed the last of the pack I had. I am going to do this! BTW, what is the co2 test?

The hardest time for me was driving. ALWAYS had to drive and smoke. I stocked my car full of peppermints and always made sure I had Water to drink if I knew I would be driving. You can do it, darlin'!
Thank you! Driving is absolutely the hardest part but I love the idea of stocking my car with peppermints! I can't believe how much I want to smoke but I'm telling myself that I want the surgery more. I still really want the smoke though:)

Today is my 6 week mark until surgery. I have to quit - today. I have cut way down (2-3 per day) but its the routine I'm having a hard time letting go of. I keep telling myself I want the surgery more then I want to smoke.

I'm so glad I ran across this thread! I am a SAHM of 3 kids and I was getting nervous about carrying the youngest (3). I don't have to carry him except to put him in my car - a large SUV. I'm thinking maybe teaching him to use a step stool now. Once he is in his car seat, I think I'll be able to buckle him.

Congratulations! At first I thought it seemed so far away and now...the next 6 weeks is going to fly. Between vacations, company picnics and my daughter starting school - I hope I stay busy enough not to worry about it.Hey all! Looks like my surgery will be in September also! I finish all my appts in July but I'm going on vaca end of August so I'll have to do the surgery in Sept. I'm anxious beyond belief!

I apologize for quoting then deleting - having a hard time getting the hang of the reply sometimes:) Dannipo, I so agree with you! I feel like if I can't do this then I shouldn't be having surgery. It still makes me nervous. I'm just trying to make sure I have all my tools in place before I start.

Hi I'm Cathy!
I am booked for surgery on September 2nd with Dr. alejandro lopez in Tijuana. I am very excited, but nervous for the pre op diet.
Hi Kathy! What is your pre op diet?
-
I went into my doctor about 9 months ago and told her I was done being overweight. I am almost 40 and I have a 3 kids (3, 7 and 18) that I need to keep up with. Weighing nearly 300 has been awful for my health! She told me she would support me as long as I learned about my options. It has taken a while but I'm almost there!

Glad its not just me Lucky! The liquid diet is supposed to be 3-4 Protein Shakes per day and unlimited clear, sugar free and low calorie liquids. I am a SAHM and take care of my husband and 3 kids daily. I don't want to make it harder then it needs to be but I also keep trying to remind myself that 2 weeks is a short period of time compared t the rest of my life. Deep breath.....

So nice to meet you Shelle:) I would really like to keep in touch! I didn't have to lose any weight prior to surgery but my PCP required that I lose weight before she would recommend me. I have to follow a carb counting lifestyle. What's different is that my nutritionist says that post surgery I won't be counting carbs, but Protein. My PCP completely supported my decision to have this surgery but she wanted to make sure I knew my options. I have to take one more education class and take a test before my surgery.

Does anyone else have a pre-surgery liquid diet? The liquid diet starts August 27th and I think I am more nervous about the 2 weeks of liquid than I am about the surgery!!!

I passed all my bloodwork and my liquid diet starts 8/27 for 2 weeks. I'm nervous about the liquid diet part!!!

I'm from Elko, Nevada. Since we live in the middle of nowhere, I have to travel nearly 4 hours to get to the doctor. We have to get a hotel for a few nights. I'm nervous about the drive home and how I'll be feeling, but I know I can do this!!

Thanks you guys. I am trying to Celebrate every little bit right now. I love th idea of zones. There are some places I'm just not ready to to (a bar, a casino) because the smoking temptation is so strong! I know it will get better, but right now...it's a lil rough. I just keep saying I want to be healthy and I want my surgery more than I want the cigarette. Deep breath:)
