Met with my surgeon yesterday for last appointment before submitting to insurance. I asked if my risk for a leak was higher due to my BMI of 53 and he said yes. My wife and I are freaking out now. I am self employed and have a kid in college. If I were out of work for 5 months my life would be ruined. My wife' date=' who had been completely supportive, is now asking if I should just try dieting again. I'm on the fence now .... Please help. [/quote']I had a higher BMI than yours and asked the dr the same thing and other questions about complications. He assured me I would be fine and I was fine. I would had researched my surgeon thoroughly and had confidence in him. I
would suggest you make sure you are completely confident in your surgeon and of you are not, look around for another.
I also had to think about health concerns if I didn't have the surgery. I was almost 50 years and had never been able to lose weight and keep it off.
I wish the best to you!

I'm scheduled for the 4th as well!! It can't get here soon enough. My biggest fear' date=' sounds kind of silly, is being thirsty. I love Water which is a good thing but I can easily down 16+ ounces after a workout. Obviously after surgery I won't be able to and that's honestly my biggest worry. I don't want to be thirsty and not be able to drink.[/quote']That was my biggest fear too!!! I knew I would not be able to even have a sip of water until the next day after surgery.
Everything went fine. Even in the recovery room, they gave me a cup of ice water and a swab for my mouth. I brushed my teeth everytime I got up to go to the bathroom and have mouthwash to keep my mouth feeling fresh.
It was absolutely a non issue. I think one other thing that helped is that I was getting fluids the whole time so my body felt very hydrated.

So true!! I know I keep thinking what if I am the one person this doesn't work with. I so proud of my dr when I went back for my one week check up. I kept asking about goal weights and progress and he kept saying don't think about that. Just work the program. For me, this surgery brings hope back to me again

Anyone have their sleeve done Thursday the 29th? I keep reading about how people aren't doing well' date=' not being able to swallow, and all other complications. I on the other hand have been feeling really good! I'm 23yrs old so maybe I was thinking because if my age but I've been of pain mess since the night I stayed in the hospital and I've been able to drink Water very well. I feel like Ive been sipping in too much broth for only being 5days out, is this normal for anyone else?[/quote']I was sleeved on the 29th and am very blessed to be doing great. Although I am a little sore, I feel good. I actually feel a little guilty not working (I am a teacher) because I have worked many days feeling worse than I do now.
I haven't had any problems getting the Protein and liquids down.
I can tell a big different when I am exercising (supposed to be 60 minutes). I getting tired faster.
Over all, I am very pleased and am going for my post op on Thursday.
I wonder if part of feeling so good is that I really have no other co-existing conditions except my weight, of course!
I now things will work out for everyone as we all walk our own path in our own timing. It is funny. I get concerned if I am doing well at something that I hear others struggling with. I wondered if maybe I am missing some sign. LOL.

I eat cottage cheese with a tablespoon of sugar free preserves. It kind of resembles the cottage cheese doubles without the high sugar content.
