    Incision Incision Incision

Neosporin (sp/ph). That helps with scars. Sadly though, you've just had your stomach cut open. It ain't gonna look pretty for a little while, but be assured, they fade very very quickly. Hang in there, chica and for the time being, try not to look at them for a couple of months!

    Stomach feels yucky

Its different strokes for different folks, I'm afraid, when it comes to healing and pain levels... Have you been given a PPI? It sounds a bit like you might have some excess acid churning around. Do you have any symptoms which correlate with that? From a personal perspective, it took a good couple of months before drinking Water was entirely comfortable. I kept feeling like I had a vortex inside me every time I took a sip - which wasn't the most pleasant sensation to come to terms with. It did ease off though. Could you give us some more info as to the type of pain you're in? Obviously, if it is definitely uncomfortable, to the point of concern, you should always contact your surgeon... Wishing you a speedy recovery

    Needing lots of support

Honey, in a short few months time, you'll be barely remembering that idiots name! You are already outstandingly brave. Just a little more courage and then a whole new life will open up for you. The absolute best of luck. Let us know how you get on x

    Sleeve For My Asperger Son?

That's good to hear. Truly. I just hope that this little fella's personal requirements are taken into account and the right choice is made for him. Not all surgical procedures are one-size-fits-all - thankfully!

    Sleeve For My Asperger Son?

I get your viewpoint and understand the core tenet that it is a different way of thinking... However and not wanting to be a pedant; 'Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with, and relates to, other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them. It is a spectrum condition, which means that, while all people with autism share certain difficulties, their condition will affect them in different ways.' Source: http://www.autism.org.uk/about-autism/autism-and-asperger-syndrome-an-introduction/what-is-autism.aspx Whatever way you cut it, it is a condition and it does, in relation to having an invasive surgical procedure, require careful holistic management to ensure that the optimum weight loss solution for the respective individual, with their unique requirements, is found.

    Sleeve For My Asperger Son?

Ever considered the gastric balloon? Non invasive. Takes 30 minutes. Lasts 6 months. Seriously restricts intake. Will kick start sizeable weight loss. I'd consider it a serious option - almost like a 'try before you buy' scenario. If your son could handle that (given his condition) and stick to the rules, then maybe invasive surgery might be the next step in consultation with psyche's, etc.? As it stands, I'd be wanting to see if he could firstly handle not being able to eat as much and then secondly, adhering to the rules. Just a thought... Best of luck

    Good morning! NOT!

Sorry for your troubles. Firstly, I would go to the Police and report it. I would then ask the Police if they are familiar with who could be doing it, whether other reports have been made in any other areas and ask them to conduct surveillance on your area for a period of time. I would also ask them if they have any CCTV of the surrounding areas and ask them to analyse it. Secondly, I would get cameras installed on your property. Discreet ones. Thirdly, I would sit in wait to see who might be conducting it, find them and batter the ever-living-crap outta them. No, sorry, the third one was fantasy on your behalf, but even in my head, although vigilantism is illegal and should never be condoned; I'm sure your husband would LOVE to catch the little horrors by the hair and give them a good 'what for'. Hope you get some resolution and in the meantime, I think hubby and yourself could do with and deserve, a beer - or six

    Soooo... Whad I miss?!

Aww, thanks, Miss Mac.You're too kind x The sunshine did indeed do me the world of good. Feel like a new human being. Amazing what a large dose of Vitamin D can do. Well, Vitamin D and a few libations! I will indeed answer any questions about my trip, but there really isn't much to report. In comparison to my other travels, this was totally tame. However, it was most enjoyable for a whole host of different, weight loss related reasons. Felt good to look and feel normal. (Well, as normal as I can be! ) Yippppeeee! Glad to be back and good to see you, too, my dear Right, lets cause some mischief somewhere x

    Soooo... Whad I miss?!

Today I am struggling with the third day of my pre op liquid diet. I feel weak, lethargic, depressed (I am an addicted coffee drinker and having severe withdrawal symptoms), and have had the same monster headache since Friday. I LOVED your post. My mind is playing tricks on me and ever so often I feel I want to go back on my decision. I know it's the lack of food. My doctor has me on three shakes that total 450cals. Reading your post and seeing your beautiful picture inspired me. As emotional and depressed I feel right now, I also feel good about going in the kitchen and making that 150cal shake!!!!! You look GORGEOUS and HAPPY!!! Congrats and thanks for the post Aww you're too kind, my dear. Don't let the liquids get you down. I know it's hard, but there is most definitely light at the end of the tunnel. Besides, the liquids are great prep for the immediate post op diet. Although in saying that, the post-op liquid diet nearly drove me to distraction. I'dve eaten broken glass for some texture, had it tasted of anything! Eyes on the prize, baby-girl, eyes on the prize. Look forward to hearing all about your many successes in the very near future and thank you again. All the best

    Embarrassing tmi question for women

I'm with the other gals. This is not only your safety and wellbeing that should be considered here... Get on that phone and tell that numbnut what he 'determines' is an emergency, is irrelevant. Because of all the possible implications this might have, of which are sizeable, I'd also shove in a complaint. After all - what kind of medical qualification does this bloke have, other than the ability to answer a phone after hours? If you wanted to get arsey about it, you could phone back, say your heart rate is going through the roof, have numbness in your hands as a direct result of his demeanor towards you and watch him kick into action then. Especially 3 weeks out of surgery. What a dick. If it were me, I'd be knocking back the morning after pill and would take half an asprin, twice a day, until a good week later. In the meantime, do not take no for an answer and call your doctor. My thoughts are with you x

    Hair Regrowth

Oh, I hear ya. In fact, I posted a few threads on the subject. It is traumatic, but it does end eventually.

    Take two

I am sorry for your current predicament, sincerely. Sounds like you're going through it, all at once, and I'm sure you're feeling overwhelmed. I agree with Butterfly; you need to set yourself up a routine. I do not have any experience with disabilities, but I do know about the other matters. You need to prioritise. Work out what's most important - which at this stage, is your health. Use the alarm system to ensure you're eating at least 3 meals a day. Up your calorie content. Make sure the food you are eating is nutritious and easily assembled. (No one needs the hassle of trying to conjure up Michellin starred food every day!). As with the set mealtimes - set a little gentle exercise time every day. Even its a little bit of stretching - just to get the blood flowing. When you build your strength with good nutrition, the rest will follow - including a bit of mental peace and emotional stability. You're not an island unto yourself. I know it's tough, but little steps every day and you'll be back on top in no time. Let us know how you get on. x

If you are asking for advice...

Well said that Lady! However, no one sends me nasty PM's. I think I am blessed in that regard!

    Hair Regrowth

I am 10 months out (or near enough). My hair started coming back in at the 7 month mark. It is now noticeably thicker than it was. I am still 'sparse' in comparison at my temples, but the growth is coming in there, too. Much improved. Hold on, honey, it'll come back in soon enough.

    Soooo... Whad I miss?!

Man how I have mised your posts. I just read it to my husband. Just did not get it like I do. I told him if I had a million dollars I would track you down and make you write a book. As I sit in my fly infested Texas small town and strawberry margaritas (put in the fridge for 24 hours to DE fizz) I have a smile. Your back!!! Aww, that's just the sweetest thing, thank you. Your hubby can't help that he doesn't 'get it'. He just hasn't read all my other endless witterings, so doesn't get my humour! Maybe if we get him a sleeve, all will become clear?! Enjoy those margaritas, my love - I'm envious!

    The Last Supper

I ate real food the night before surgery, too. And it was with permission. One meal does not undo your liver-shrinking pre op diet. I didn't really have food funerals, either. I just ate the one thing I would likely struggle with post sleeve - pizza, chicken tenders and a full fat coke. It was delicious, but frankly, I was done with the things which got me into this mess. Consequently, 17 hours later, it was head down, stomach removed, new life begun. I can eat pizza now, and chicken tenders, and can drink a coke. Do I want to? Occasionally. Does it make me feel 'sated'? Nope, the thought is now better than the reality. It actually makes me feel a bit dirty inside.. and hungry, less than two hours later. I'm much better with steak and salad. That's a good thing, for me, at least.

    My Plastic Surgery in Mexico

Glad to hear you've had a great experience this time round. Out of interest (and I am yet to check your profile), would you mind posting the 'before' work you had done and the after on this thread; just for comparisons sake? I'm in the process of considering plastic surgery options and I'd be eternally grateful to see what is good and 'bad' work. Best regards, Revs
