    No rants or raves allowed!

Are you kidding me?! I received a good few whinge-fests in response to my threads.I always do. Makes life more interesting. I don't throw my toys out of the pram when they come. I deal with it

    Just devastated

But what EXACTLY is wrong with your liver? I would consider litigation depending on the timeline of events. If there's evidence to support that he knew you had this problem at the start (and there's evidence of this), he knew and YOU knew what this entailed for the safety of the procedure (and there's evidence of this), gave you options to mitigate the risks and you have evidence to support that you'd followed his advice with the respective pre-surgery health check ups, diet etc.... However, if there's one ounce of doubt in the above - you're screwed. My view on this is along LL's. Better he stopped the surgery than did it and it went horribly wrong. I would, however, be interested to know the EXACT reason as to why he cancelled the surgery. Were there pre-surgery tests conducted?

Okay, so what have I missed?
  4. As sometimes data on rates of loss are sometimes thin on the ground, I thought I'd share mine for you all. I am 5ft 10. I started at 250lbs. Day of surgery, I was 243.83. BMI 35.3 I am 6 months and 8 days out (including today) since surgery. As you will see (and I hope it brings a little reassurance to some), that although my scale is a little on the slow side in comparison to others, that the numbers (on the scale and on my body) are moving in the right direction. Stalls and all! I am trying to reach 173lbs. This will give me (for the first time since I was 18) a normal BMI of 24.8. As it stands of today and based on the above figures: 250lbs Starting 192lbs Current - Loss 58lbs BMI 27.8 173lbs Goal - 77lbs total loss required 58lbs / 77lbs = 75.3% of Excess weight lost 19lbs to go! (31lbs if I want to get to my lowest weight ever, although I'll re-evaluate this when I hit 'normal' ) Now, I'm just hoping that my window of opportunity isn't about to slam shut! Would really appreciate any viewpoints on rates of loss during the 6 months- 1 year mark? Hope the above has allayed some fears and provided a bit of confidence in your own rates of loss, all you sleeve-superstars out there! Revs x

    Hair hair and more hair

Being a person who has lost a fair amount of hair, i have found something, which I believe (and I am tentative in saying this), has helped drastically slow down my hair loss - and it aint Biotin. It's Iron, folks. I have upped my red meat consumption drastically, I take two complete Multivitamins a day (which have 100% of your daily requirement of iron per tablet) and.. I am swallowing two spatone Iron supplement sachets. I am still losing hair, don't get me wrong, but since I significantly upped my iron, it has definitely diminished. I am constipated like a mo-fo, but I do think its working... For info, the loss started at 3.5-4 months and I'm now approaching month 7.

But was he eating it.. You know you've encountered a true grotbags if they chow down on their nasal produce. But not before, of course, giving it a good coat of looking at, grading it for texture, colour, potential flavour, etc.

I'd like to laugh along with that, but it is actually very accurate. If the tea and cigarette quotient is not maintained at least every 2 hours, this biatch gets grumpy

Aww, you're too kind. I don't think anyone would want me in charge of 'the big red button' if they knew how grumpy I was in the morning without at least 3 cups of tea and 5 cigarettes!

    Better slow than no

Roo! Starting Weight: 316 lbs Weight Lost: 84 lbs Total weight to lose: 176lbs Current Weight: 232 lbs Goal Weight: 140 lbs 84/176 = 0.477 x 100 = 47% of the way there! In about 6 months?! That's pretty darn good, if you ask me?!!
  12. Madam Reverie

    Sex?

This, made me laugh for all the wrong reasons.... 'made sure he didn't put any weight in me' Sorry!
  13. Madam Reverie

    Better slow than no

It is harder to move BMI points than it is to move pounds, if that makes any sense. You're doing brilliantly.
  14. Madam Reverie

    Better slow than no

Keep at it, honey. Slow and steady wins the race. To put it into perspective, I've 'only' lost 60lbs since 19th September. I am deffo a slow loser - but I'm a happy one. You've lost 84lbs. That's AMAZING! The thing that is most telling in weight loss comparisons, is BMI. He started off a LOT heavier than you. What BMI is he rocking at the moment, because I find there's great parity in those figures between different peoples rates of loss, their stalls and where they end up... Maybe focus on that part and it won't seem like you're failing in comparison... x
  15. Madam Reverie

so much for starting to feel better...

7lbs a month is a fantastic rate of loss. Nearly two pounds a week. Just try to zone him out and carry on as you are. Things will pick up for sure.

    Has anyone had wine?

Early out, Red Wine gave me awful heart burn. Now, I can drink both, but it does kick my behind. I prefer Guinness.. Drink of the gods, that one
  17. and she's up to a 60lb loss. That's 77.9% of her excess. Yipppppeeeeeeeeeee!

    Post op FIRST time pregnancies

Oh lord, you girls are making me broody! That, I thought, was a physical impossibility! Much love and luck to you all! x
  21. I know it's high in saturated fat, but if I have the time, I am a fan of bacon and sausages. Taking a leaf out of my asian friends' book (and 'cause I worked out there for years), I am a massive fan of Asian omelette's. Standard omelette with cheese, but add green peppers (or capsicums) and fresh green chilies (not that jalepeno rubbish! Real chillies!). Serve with a 1/4 of a tortilla (it's hard to get fresh naan bread first thing in the morning!). YUM! Alternatively and if I'm feeling naughty and I get up late, it's actually half a ham and cheese toasted sandwich. I take my carbs in the morning. I'm good with that... If I'm feeling virtuous. Its yoghurt and frozen berries. Tastes like ice cream to me I guess that's pretty dull on balance, but they beat the Quest bars and Protein shakes. I am so sick of those things!

    Repetitive and Circuitous Topics....

@Iambeautiful Dude! Darling! I'm not belittling people who need information. Please carefully read the caveat I wrote at the start of this thread. Before i cry. And tear my hair out. And flagellate myself. And eat chocolate (which makes me sick, incidentally) And as you posted your follow up, before I could post this... There is no need to be like that. Sincerely. Go back to the start, absorb the tempo and timbre of the thread (and find the correlation with how everyone on this thread responds to newbies) and you'll understand that you're so far off base, you might as well be in Mogadishu. Don't bring this here. Its not welcome and its not warranted.

Oh guys, you make me blush! I am thoroughly touched that you think the inner rantings/musings of my mind are worthy of your attention and subsequently bring you a form of entertainment. I just think I'm an overly verbose bombastic mad person. I am, sincerely, humbled. Tell you what. If things get a bit dull, one or all of you, nominate a global issue - could be entertainment, could be WLS, could be politics - could be anything. Give me a subject and I shall produce my own bilious vomitorium. Just for you. I think, taking the lead from @ Mrs.RRN 's suggestion, it should be placed between the Rants and Raves section and the subject of 'Constipation' in the Post Operative Gastric Sleeve Forum.

    Apparently I disappointed someone...

Ahh, well, you see... I am going to patent the name, 'give-a-shitometer' (and all variants of the name, logos and devices). I cannot patent the actual device, as there is no pre-defined unit that people can accurately identify or quantify. Additionally, no matter how hard some people try, theirs will always be a little broken. (Sorry yours was dysfunctional for a while, Moonlite x) The 'Shitometer' which, as far as intellectual property rights are concerned, (as determined by the patent office) may be used only by people on this website. Any use outside of this domain, will be subject to licensing conditions and appropriate charges. What charges you ask? Well, that would be homemade lasagne (none of this packet malarky), garlic bread and a cheeky side salad with balsamic vinaigrette. Alternatively and for you southern crew, I'd take some slow smoked baby-back pork ribs in a cheeky homemade rub or BBQ sauce. And homemade slaw. And maybe a Philly Cheese Steak. And maybe a grilled cheese sandwich. And perhaps a smattering of Pulled Pork... And... I need to go to bed before I end up raiding my fridge!
