You did such a good job documenting everything. I wish I had met Dr. Ortiz. I think I talked to him when I was coming to because I remember seeing that bright smile but for the life of me I cannot remember what was said. I went by myself. I think it was nice you had your parents. I enjoy reading your posts. I was there in the middle of September. Thanks for posting!

Thanks. That's good to know. My husband is going with us. That' date='would be a bit unnerving. Yea I worry about the connecting flight too. I don't want to get a wheel chair either. I have fibromyalgia and when I flare up bad I work hard at not walking like I'm in pain. Lol. I try to add a little arm swag to make it look like I'm just strutin my stuff. Haha. So no wheel chair for me. How haventhe gas pains been? That seems to be the worst complaint.[/quote']I really think since you already deal with pain and have a good attitude unless you have complications (which are rare from what I hear) you will do good. The pain is very manageable. I really did not have much gas pain. I also felt like following the strict pre op diet helped a lot. I lost 12 lbs before surgery. I didn't end up taking all my pain meds they gave us. I did take them the day I was traveling because I was afraid of exerting myself and thought I might over do it. I have not taken any since then. I'm glad your husband is going. I wish mine could've but it was fine.
The Marriott was great. They were very friendly and attentive. They even called my room a couple of times to see if I needed anything. Make sure to take small bills for tipping. Are you staying in the Marriott?

Great! So glad your home and doing so well. Flying home went pretty good? Thanks. I will keep you posted.Yes flying wasn't too bad. I didn't get a wheel chair cuz I figured I needed to walk. When we flew into Dallas we landed at an opposite gate from my connecting flight. That was quite a bit of walking even with the sky walk train. I carried on my bag down there but checked it on the way home. I would suggest you guys do the same. It was nice not having to drag that around. Plus I didn't want to ask someone to put it in the overhead for me. It will be nice that you guys will have each other. When I crossed the border each time I was by myself. I met ppl at the center and hotel but somehow both times crossing the border I was alone. I would've liked having someone with me cuz that was a little unnerving. I think if they hadn't changed the rules about us getting out of the vehicle and going inside the building and getting checked then meeting the driver on the other side I wouldn't have been so nervous. I just hated being alone. But since you and your daughter will be together I really do not think you will be as nervous as I was.

HoosierMom how are you doing?Just got home! I'm doing well. A little sore but not too bad. Walked a lot in the Dallas airport which I needed to do. Found a place that had chicken noodle Soup and drank the broth. It was so good. I was starting to feel a little weak from traveling. I think you and your daughter will do fine. Remind me when it gets closer to the 11th and I'll pray for you guys. Take care!

So good to hear your doing so well. I've had a few surgeries thru the years I always do very well. And I have a high tolerance for pain. My daughter and I are having sleeve the same day. Do you have five incisions? Thanks. I'm from columbus. Where are you from?Well I didn't get the drain out. That will be tomorrow. It is still going well. I think you and your daughter will be fine. I'm not sure I have a high tolerance but it has been manageable. It's not easy but it's not that bad either. I would do it again. Yes I have five incisions. They really have not hurt at all. The one with the drain tube is a little annoying is all. I do have the gas pain and the pain when I swallow but it still has not been that bad. I'm from southern Indiana. Good luck to you and your daughter!

Well now I get to post on the post-op thread. Surgery went great. I feel good. The staples come out tomorrow. I sure hope it doesn't hurt. Drinking feels wierd. It's like you can feel it go all the way down to the sleeve then I burp. Hope that goes away sooner than later.Hoping that everyone else that was sleeved this week is feeling good too.
Hey Pattie,
I'm heading to the lobby to meet one of our fellow sleevers. We may end up in the restaurant if u want to catch up with us.

I'm going with dr Ishmael Cabrera. So how many nights total are you staying. I'm getting nervous.Well I am going to stay 5 nights all together. I came in a day early and going to leave a day late. I was more nervous about traveling than the surgery. It really has not been scary at all. Everyone is real nice. Also if you go alone there is usually someone you meet that is alone too. Last night we got out and walked around the hotel a little. Then we got tired so we went our separate ways and ordered room service broth. The pain has been bearable. It kinda comes and goes. This morning I feel real good. Just took a shower. We have to go back to the hospital today. I think they are going to take the drain tube out. Can't wait for that. Let me know if you have any questions. I would be happy to answer them.

So happy to hear your ok. Did you stay at hospital 2nights? I'm October 11th.
No I only stayed one night. Surgery was Friday. Are you going to Dr. Ariel Ortiz also? He is very good. I'm very pleased with the whole process.

How are you HoosierMom?I am doing well. Surgery wasn't as bad as I thought. I was a little nauseated but I think that was from the pain meds. I'm back at the Marriott now. Are you pre or post op?
-
Mine is today also. Are you at the Marriott?

best of luck to you.
You too!

I originally only told my husband but finally broke down and told my sister who is my best friend. She hasn't even told her husband. After reading other posts I am so glad that I haven't told the rest of my family. I am going alone also but I feel safe after reading everyone's experiences. Surgery is the 13th.

We will both be at the Marriott on the 15th. I am flying home to southern Indiana on the 16th. Hopefully we will run into each other. I have family in the St. Louis area.

Hi Pattie
I will be at the Marriott on the 12th also. My surgery is the 13th too but at OCC instead. How many days will you be in the hospital? I will only stay one night and then 2 days at the Marriott.

Mine is the 13th as well. I am going to Mexico and Dr. Ariel Ortiz is my surgeon. Where are you having surgery?
-
I recently have the Mirena IUD. I am very happy with it also. I have heard of people having trouble also but so far I have not had any. My surgery is in September and I'm wondering if it should be removed before surgery. I talk to my doctor next week.

Yes please keep us posted. This is very interesting. Good luck!

That is so funny that you just remember seeing teeth too. I do not remember the inflatable raft. One of the ladies I was with noticed the time right away when she woke up. I never even thought to look. I think I did not believe at first it was over. I remember trying to touch my belly to see if I felt any incisions because I didn't think they had started yet. Oh yes that would've been a good pic to take crossing back across the border. I was by myself each time I went across. I wish I had someone to walk across with. The people I had met in the lobby got to leave together but I stayed one extra night and left early the next day. So it was a little unnerving crossing it by myself and waiting on the corner around 5:30 in the morning while it was still dark. I was so happy when my driver finally pulled up. I think I waited like 15 or 20 minutes but felt way longer since I was alone. Good experience though. Wouldn't change anything.
