  1. Huge congrats! Sounds like you've done your research. You'll do great!
  2. This is all very helpful! Yes, MGLaW142, let's keep in touch! Great work on losing 46 pounds already! It sounds like there are many different requirements depending on the doctor! And always a waiting game. Ha. Congrats on your progress Brad360 west! The date is almost here!
  3. Did your surgeon's office call you right back? Mine lets the phone go to voicemail and then calls back at her own convenience. I don't feel much like a customer...Anyway, here's hoping I hear soon!
  4. I found out today I am approved for surgery! WOOO! What should I expect next? How long did it take for your surgeon to schedule surgery/give you a date? Typically, people have an endoscopy and blood work and do a 2 week pre-op diet. What else did you do? How far out did your surgeon book you? Thanks for any insight!
  5. I was approved today too! Now I'm just waiting on my surgeon's office to call and schedule. Congrats to you! Maybe we'll be sleeve date buddies!
  6. I was on a liquid diet for 3 months as part of a medically supervised diet. I would even go out to dinner with husband and drink my shake or water while he ate. I gained all the weight back and actually didn't lose much at all (20 pounds!?). I think my body was starving as I was also working out 60-90 minutes a day. Anyway, I agree that the key is just staying busy and the first week is absolutely the hardest. After that, I was never even hungry! Good luck!
  7. I met with a surgeon July 9th, then had psych eval and nutritionist appointments. Now, I'm waiting to hear back from insurance (today or tomorrow) and can get a surgery date as soon as I hear! As you might imagine, I'm antsy!
  8. Huge congrats! Good vibes sent your way!
  9. I'm going to sound crazy. I call it the pre-op cray cray. Here's my question: My pre-authorization is due Thursday am (72 hours from when it was submitted, per insurance's timeline). Then they MAIL it to my surgeon. Snail mail. Like it's 1929. So can I call my insurance Thursday, find out if I was approved and then call the surgeon's office to speed things up? Is this abnormal behavior? Thanks for any insight or tips.
  10. The comments are hilarious! I'm scared too and don't even have a date set. BUT. How scary is it to keep living as we do now? I'll take surgery any day. Good luck!
  11. Congrats! My pre-determination will be finished this Thursday. Apparently they send it by mail? I'm hoping I can call with the news on Thursday and maybe the surgeon's office will book me instead of waiting for snail mail paperwork (what is this, 2002? Ha.). I work in higher ed, so an early September date would be ideal... Thanks for all the info on next steps and good luck to all of you!
  12. That is quick! Did someone cancel or are the doctor's just not booked out? Either way, huge congrats!
  13. Thanks for this, all of you, and strong thoughts to the original poster. We all get so obsessed with the numbers-- it's been the death of my diets many a times. I'm worried I'll get obsessed with the scale. It helps to have a support group like this reminding us we're so much more than the weight of our bodies against gravity!
  14. I have the same issue. They said they would try to fix my umbilical hernia at time of surgery. It's rather large.. 3 cenimeters and it did cause me intense pain earlier this year. Now, it's just annoying and keeping me from lifting weights. I'm interested to hear that Namada was told to wait to wrap it in with a tummy tuck.. I might ask about this! Good luck to you. I'm glad you didn't even realized you had it! That means it's not bugging you too much.
  15. All the luck and good thoughts sent your way! Mine was sent yesterday morning. Ah, the waiting game!
  16. I'm in the same boat! It's funny how excited I am for this. It's like waiting for a wedding or something. I've found prepping my house and keeping busy keeps my mind off of it-- I already have my hospital bag packed! Ha. Good luck to you!
  17. Congrats! How long were you waiting for the insurance claim to be made and approved? Any advice on this stage? Good luck to you. We'll make room on the losers bench!
