  1. 12/18 for me. Had to be there at 6am....I saw cute brown rabbits in the OR lights, (amused the entire OR staff) then it was time to wake up! Home by 1:30 pm. It really is a piece of cake, and I have never had surgery before! Good luck to all. Childbirth (x3) should have been this easy

    Sleeping

Not back....side is my issue with that darn little port poking at me! I'm sure we adjust in time
  3. On my way home from the hospital I honestly was thinking....WHAT did I just do to myself???? Hang in there, I was pretty uncomfortable for 2-3 days, but then I felt so much better. Take the pain meds, that's what they are for. It will get better. You did a good thing.
  4. Mine is on the right side/lower ribs. At my post op the other day I asked if I would always be able to feel/see it and was told "probably". My dr used a low profile port, saying my abdominal wall was thin (Love her lol)!!
  5. 4-6 weeks for me. I was told that they don't schedule fills, but it's up to me to decide when I'm not feeling full any longer on solids and get physical hunger. Maybe double check? I'm no where near ready for fills and I was actually banded a week before you were. Had something stuck today for the first time.Gosh, not a comfy feeling!:wink2:
  6. I went to the Drs today for my post-op check and they gave me samples of these vitamins. I guess they contain everything necessary in one chewable instead of taking several multiple vitamins, I ordered some when I got home, they tasted good, and I'm sure are more suitable for what I need than the kids chewables I've been taking! Anyone else tried them?

    Bariatric Fusion

They are called Bariatric Fusion, they have their own website and are made esp for bariatric patients. I figured, hey why not!! Taste pretty good too for a vitamin, and didn't make me queasy like most do.
  8. I was ready believe it or not....somehow being home for 10 days at Christmas time with kids isn't the best way to recoup!! Im a nurse, and yes, after the shift am a bit tired. I must say I received many compliments about how "good" I looked :tongue_smilie: Not sure what the weight loss is since surgery on the 18th, I go Monday for my post op. It felt good to hear though! I really haven't been eating a whole lot, liquids for 3 days, now mushies. I am one of the lucky ones that can say I have some restriction post op.....for now. Not very hungry at all-yet. Hope all are well.

    Did I stretch my band?!

Is your surgery recent? sounds to me as if you're ready for a fill. Getting hungrier sooner and not feeling satisfied as you did eating the same amts as before are the signs- unless you're still in your "healing phase" and it's too soon. Just call your drs office. I went today for my post-op check...12/18 was my band date. I asked my surgeon all about the pouch stretching, and suture ripping senarios and was told in the 20 years of practice that would be a first for them and their 1800+ patients. That was good to hear. So I guess whenever in doubt give your dr a call, all the advice we are getting from here there and everywhere (yes even moms) isn't always the best or most correct. I know I will!

    Back to work today...

Hi Florida.... Yup that's exactly what I mean, I think it's just due to the post op swelling that has given me any restriciton, which is why I say I'm not hungry "for now". In fact at work this evening someone mentioned a steak, and I thought......oooooh yum. I honestly could have had a helping right then! I know someone once posted to enjoy it while it lasts!

    Alcohol (Wine) Post Op???

I was banded on 12/18 and enjoyed a glass of wine on Christmas day. No problems at all. And it tastes a lot better than liquid Lortab!
  12. My surgeon told me yesterday to take Milk of Mag at bedtime...I was banded on the 18th and went 9 days without. I'm a nurse and get freaked out if a patient would tell me such a thing, but I had positive bowel sounds, no distention, not vomiting.....dr said it's normal after this surgery since so little is going in that the body utilizes it all. Plus in the pure liquid phase...liquid in urine out. I felt much better and took the MOM last nite, worked today. Good luck to you

    port question?

Surgery 12/18 here, and the port is the only pain I have left! It sticks out some too, very easy for me and any others that are willing to feel, even see. It feels just as it is....a hard lump of plastic in my belly! Mine is to the right side towards the lower end of the rib cage. I hope it becomes less tender as time goes on. Creepy. Sitting is uncomfortable at times.

    BMs

Lovely topic I know!! I was banded on 12/18, all went great. Aside from the port site I have no pain anymore. However....I have not had a BM since the day before my surgery. I feel fine, not distented or in any discomfort. I know it's from low intake obviously, but I'm just wondering how long it was for you all? I bought some Milk Of Mag tonite and will take some at bedtime. And I see the dr on Monday for my post op check and I know the subject will come up. Just curious....thanks!

    BMs

LOL thanks everyone!! I did take the MOM last night and it did work, but the benefiber daily sounds like the best way to go from now on....no pun intended:tt2:
  16. I had the same problem, but I was so sleepy that first day that it was due to not taking in enough along with being NPO the night prior. It passed quickly!

    ports

I can actually see my port bump a bit 5 days out, and I deninatley can feel it. In a way it gives my the heebie-jeebies-silly I know, but just feeling something foreign inside my belly. It's still a bit uncomfortable in that spot, hoping that passes soon?

    ports

TQUAD64.....Oh good I'm not alone!! Ew LOL!! Good luck to you
  20. Hi I am 5 days post op. About how long does this gas and bloated feeling last? My abdomen seems so puffy and full, not too painfull just annoyingly uncomfortable. I am chewing some Gas-ex tabs a few times a day, not sure they do much though. Thanks
  21. Annie0341

    ports

Congrats to you both! Prisntwo, I'm doing good, pain is gone for the most part, just that port site, which from what I read is pretty normal. And the puffy belly syndrome! I guess the swelling and remaining gas will just dissapaite in time. Soon I hope! I can't tie my shoes! Have to ask my teenage son! Take care all

Gas Pains 8 days post op

Those sound like classic gallbladder symptoms. Sudden weight loss is a cause for many to have problems with that, unfortunately. Call the dr.
  23. Annie0341

    gassy question!

There's only so far I can walk indoors, we've had 6+ inches of snow everyother day since my surgery! I actually can't wait to get back to work Sat, as we nurses never get to sit on the job.

    First sneeze

I braced myself for my first sneeze yesterday, and you're right, burping and hicc-ups hurt more.
  25. Don't you all wish these bariatric drs would all attend the same damn seminars so that the education they provide ALL patients would be similar!?!? This is unreal!! As a nurse,I'd hate for neurosurgeons to have such different positions on their surgeries!! YIKES! Everything from pre-op to post-op diets, to when to bathe and have sex is different from one bandster to another. Here I was put on a strick 4 week Medifast shake only regime pre-op, while Joe Schmo just had to fast the day before surgery....I'm now 4 days post -op, got the ok to have "thicker liquids/yogurt" just today, where poor Sally Lou was told she can't take much more than tea for another 2 weeks....I don't get it!! Oh well, I guess how we are feeling is the most important thing. We are all intelligent people and none of us have come this far to do any harm intentionally. We have to respect the fact that we all were indeed told something different. Me.....I got brave and added a bit a skim milk to my tomato soup tonite....whoo-hoo I'm living on the edge
