  1. I was curious about the Protein do you just mix it with Water? I guess I'm not sure if you can have shakes on the "clear diet" (first 2 wks?) and need clarification. I'm going to Mexico so don't have a surgeon per say to ask. I guess when I think clear liquid I think you cant have the protein...

With that said hang in there I'm sure it will get better and I'm sure you made the right choice! Feel good soon! :)

My surgeon said clear only except for cloudy Protein drinks were ok. Ie premiere Protein, etc. you can also get powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth protein.

  2. How are you doing? I'm tomorrow. Any tips for me?

    Lory

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. The first few days after surgery were harder than I expected. Not from the sleeve Per de, but I think from a hernia repair that gave me such incredible reflux or heartburn I felt I was having a heart attack. Then I had some bladder issues and then slight fever and high blood pressure. It finally all turned the corner about 36 hours ago and feeling like I'm heading in the right direction. Heartburn still an issue but not as bad. The only down part is since feeling better I've gotten my appetite back and am hungry. I hope that changes when I can eat real food that fills me up quickly.

Let me know how your recovery is and I'll see if ther is anything I can offer in the way of advice. Hope all is well.

  3. I took too much. I did not shower... Did not need hair dryer, Shampoo, etc. I left in the same clothes I came in. I wore hospital gown and socks the whole time. Two gowns if I needed one as a robe. I didn't read anything. All I needed: cell phone, tooth brush, paste, hair brush, ID insurance card, credit card, Cpap, glasses, and my pillow from home. Gas x is a god idea but thankfully I did not need. Slip on shoes to leave in are helpful.

  4. Slurpee_girl I hope all went well' date=' and please do not come back in a week and say OMG I am not losing 50 pounds per day... Follow the Dr's orders.... you will do fine, STAY off the scale..... go by your clothes...... remember you will GAIN.... before you start to lose, hollar at me if I can help... Hope you got some MOM before surgery, if not send someone for it.....MOM is milk of mag. you WILL need it after about 2.5 weeks I PROMISE YOU! :) Been there, SUFFERED THAT![/quote']

Thanks. Surgery went well. No unexpected troubles with the sleeve part but I had a hernia repaired and since waking up from surgery I've had some severe reflux issues....felt like a heart attack coming out of surgery. Still a significant issue and something I need to figure out. No scales for me until I see the doctor Friday, now, just need to figure out how to get all the liquids and Protein down. I hope everyone is doing well!

  5. Please' date=' if you just had surgery... STAY OFF THE SCALE... you did not gain 100 - 150 lbs in 3 hours, you are NOT going to lose it in 3 hours just because you had a major surgery, your body has just gone thru a MAJOR JOLT... your body is going to SWELL, making you GAIN weight........ it is going to take you almost 3 weeks to start FEELING OK...NOT GOOD, but OK.. Give your body time to HEAL, ADJUST. Try to get in as much Water and Protein as you can... do NOT ask can I have this, knowing when you went into surgery you will NOT be able to have it... follow your Dr orders or someone that has BEEN WHERE you ARE... YOU will NOT be HUNGRY.. it is head hunger. so do not come here and say I AM HUNGRY.. you are not.... get serious as to why you did this surgery and you will succeed!!! Best of luck to all of you. I linger between 125-129 and I do NOT freak out that OMG I gained 4 pounds, get used to it NOW[/quote']

Strong but valuable words of advice. Thanks. My surgery is today at 1:30...wish me success, both during and after. Good luck everyone!

  6. Surgery is coming up on the 25TH. Now Im sitting here wishing I hadn't told anyone. My family says they wish me luck and will pray everything goes smooth' date=' then next conversation starts with "I sure wish you wouldn't do it" or "you don't need it" or even "you know people die from that kind of surgery"... My husband says he support me, he's been nothing but supportive, then I hear him saying he is scared for me and nervous....I have been excited all the way up until now. They have me feeling like I'm making a bad decision or what if I do die upon the table? Just confused, but I know I want this so bad.....My only two friends that I have, been working out with me, comming to appointments with me, now just to back out and tell me to really think about it! Are you kidding me! How dare them! One didn't even have the guts to call, but wrote a letter to me.....either your with me are your not. Im not about to try an convince any of them why this is important to me...I have a mind just to go on my own and not tell any of them and tell the nurses at the hospital I don't want any visitors!![/quote']

I agree wit Lory, those closest to us can often hinder us the most with good intentions. You got this, you know it's a step to better health. Be strong in your conviction and forgive those that mean well but don't say the right thing. We are here for you and support you. (I'm on the 24th so we will both head into our new lives soon!!!)

Thank you. This was VERY helpful to me.

  8. I finally told my kids' date=' my son is so positive and supportive my daughter feels like I should try another diet this will be a life change. I have issues with my health insurance from work. Pretty much they have told me do something drastic to bring down your BMI under 40 or you will not be able to afford the insurance or they might drop you. Because of 2014 Obamacare, I was very sick last year with a brain aneurysm, the insurance thinks it was because of being over weight. I think it was from taking 1600 Motrin and I have always had low blood pressure. Oh well, my surgery is scheduled for Sept 4th. UGH I am scared.[/quote']

I'm thinking of you and wish you the best.

  9. Since I just got my surgery date yesterday I wasn't nervous before...too hyper focused on getting the approval. I had a twinge of fear /anxiety last night then just told myself to remember all the increased risks and shorter lifespan associated with being overweight that I learned about in the info session and it helped put it back in perspective.
