    Boudoir Photos

If you feel sexy, it will show through the lens. As far as your imperfect areas.... let the photographer know. He/she will work around it. Good luck and enjoy!
  2. Still happens to me. If I find I'm in a situation with others around me and it's especially loud, I talk back to it. I've gotten some of my friends to do it also. It's just one of those things.
  3. Beautiful! Great choices! Did you have fun?

    WLS Medical Alert Bracelet

I have one because I'm a diabetic. After the surgery, I got a new one. It reads: My name Diabetic No ASA, No NSAIDS, NGT No Penicillin I.C.E (husbands cell #) This is the second bracelet I've gotten from laurenshope.com. Many styles to chose from and very comfortable. A little pricy, but worth it. My last one was 4 years old and I would still be wearing it. but the message had to be changed and the bracelet was getting to be too large from the weigh loss. I would suggest getting a bracelet/necklase. Why take the risk, ya know?
  5. I'm 6 months out and 70 lbs down. I recently found I'm wanting to wear more girlie clothes and went dress shopping. I tried on over 30 dresses (and wasn't all sweaty and ready to pass out in the dressing room because I'm cold all the time now) - all different styles and found two that I really liked and purchased. Go to the stores and try on everything you can get your hands on! It was very surprising on what I found I liked on compared to what I liked on the hanger. I had a blast even though I was shopping by myself.
  6. It's only over if you want it to be over.... Don't give up! Are you exercising at all? Even simply walking will make a world of difference.

    freezing!

Very glad to know I'm not the only one. Thank you all for your replies! I work for an AC Company and the joke in the office is I've lost my R value (insulation). lol! Truck8595 - I've also found I don't sweat anywhere near as much as I used to. I actually LIKE getting into the car after it's been baking in the sun all day.
  8. I'm almost 6 months out and 70 lbs down (Yay!). I find I'm starting to look at my original goal of 130 lbs as too much. I see and talk to people around my height and look at their weight and I'm really beginning to think I'll look emaciated if I get down that low. Of course, I'll keep evaluating as I lose - but is this something I should bring up with my Doctor next week at my appointment? Are there others that had this issue? What was your decision and how did you reach that decision? Thanks for your time! - Pokey Jo

    freezing!

I'm cold all the time as well. I used to sweat like mad over the summer - I'm really interested to see how I tolerate the heat now.
  10. I've been losing slowly as well. It's frustrating, I agree. I'm 4 months out and 62 lbs down. Don't give up! And remember if your exercising, muscles weigh more than fat. Slow and steady wins the race!

    Shopping

I'm having the same dilema right now. I've just about emptied my closet of all the old clothes and I don't want to spend a lot of money for clothes that will last only a few weeks, but I still need to dress halfway descent for work. My boss gave me permission to wear jeans during the weight loss, but I don't want to take advantage of that. I'm trying to find inexpensive staple pieces (black pants, plain shirts) and so far that has been working. I do buy the pants a little snug so they have been lasting a little longer. I think once I'm closer to the goal weight, I'll really start investing in clothing. It's a different dilema to have, that's for sure!
  12. And, I am currently off all other meds - blood pressure, heartburn, oral diabeties (along with the injected), etc.... Will probably not go back on anything but the oral diabeties meds.
  13. I have had T2 for about 15 years and was on oral meds. May of 2012, I was put on injected insulin because things got out of control. I was sleeved on Sept. 20 - my numbers are technically still high and I will probably end up back on oral meds, but my surgeon said not to worry about it until 6 months out. If I get too high, I'm to take fast acting insulin on a sliding scale as needed. I've lost about 50 lbs since surgery and notice the side effects of diabeties have all but gone away - thirst, frequent urination, etc... If I could do the sleeve over again, I would 10 more times! There are other things to consider with each of your options - not just diabeties. With the RNY, you don't absorb calories, but you don't absorb nutrients either. The weight loss will happen very quickly, but if you're not careful, you could have long term problems other than diabeties. With the sleeve, the weight comes of slower. You still need to make sure you're extremely careful with what and how you eat, but there's less problems. As far as the diabeties, I'm fully prepared to go back on oral meds. Hoping I won't have to, but preparing myself for it nonetheless. Not sure if anything I'm saying will help... It's just my opinion.
  14. I was an insulin diabetic (for about a year) before I was sleeved. I'm now 2 months post op, have not had insulin since, and my blood sugar numbers are @ fluctuating between 160 and 200 throughout the day. I'm not eating carbs / sugars (except what is in approved foods) and I exercise about 6 hours per week. I asked my surgeon and he said they don't do any blood work for 6 months because my body is in a state of flux. He said I should use my fast acting insulin on a sliding scale if the numbers are higher than that. I've only used it twice. I understand I may end up back on the pills, and that's ok, I'm just concerned about now. My questions are - Are there others that have experienced this? Why are the numbers still high even though there are very little carbs / sugar going in? About when (pounds lost) do the numbers go down? Should I be seeking another opinion?
  15. Had started exercising in the pool at the gym this past week and was feeling really good.... until I got on the scale. I had only lost 1 lb. This morning, I tried on 3 pairs of jeans that have been hanging in my closet because it's been over a year since I could get into them. They fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My wonderful husband reminded me it's not always about the scale. I'm so happy and so lucky!
  16. Fantastic! Keep it up!

What to eat after a work out....

Thank you all! I can't eat eggs now for some reason, so those are out. I was thinking about a Protein shake before and after, but was concerned about going over the range I was given by the NUT. Is that a bad thing? Erp - I drink at least 100 oz a day. I get wobbly because my sugars get low.
  18. I'm hoping there are some suggestions out there - I'm almost 6 weeks post op and have started at the gym. I'm an early riser so will be going in the mornings before work. This morning, I drank my protein shake on the way there (I have to have something when I get up) and found I was a little wobbly after. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's a good thing to have after? Not supposed to have any energy bars or granola bars or anything like that and I don't think another protein shake is the way to go.

    Any advise please!

SIp, sip, sip and absolutely slow down. Stick with liquids for now. Wait until you have the feeling it has entering your pouch to take another sip. You might end up taking hours to finish one protein shake, but it's better than having it come back up.
  20. one month out - No pain from surgery what so ever. Had it rough with naseau the first night and first day after, but they gave me something for it and it was gone. No problems since. Only food not agreeing with me at the moment are eggs. Still learning I need to slow down when I eat.

    Eggs

I was allowed to have them two weeks out. I love eggs too but have not been able to stomach them since the surgery. My husband is suggesting I try hard boiled at a time of day other than breakfast. I've had a hard time with them, so I'm a little hesitant.

3 weeks post-op: Pizza and Pasta?!

Get back on the wagon! Don't beat yourself up about it, but realize you really can't do that... If you find you cannot control your eating issues, please seek help from a professional! Eating disorders are not all about anorexia and bulemia. Good luck to you!

    Four days post op

I had let it be known to family/friends/coworkers before surgery. I have only experienced positive feedback so far. I'm sure at some point I'll come across someone who will be negative and I'm going to tell them to take a flying leap! I believe I did what was in the best interest of my health and to allow me to have a life to live instead of just being alive. I had surgery on a Friday and went back to work the following Wednesday for half days until the end of that week. I moved a bit slow and absolutely did not lift anything. I didn't drive myself and I was very pooped at the end of the day. The following Monday, I was back full time. It was a little hard for a day or two, but after that I was fine. Try not to push yourself too hard. If you get tired, take a break. I would guess if you told your employer about the surgery, they would understand and not punish you for it. Make sure you're getting enough Protein. That's what made a world of difference for me. I'm 1 month out and still have one every morning for Breakfast. Great boost to start the day! Do what's best for you! Good luck with the journey!

    One month after surgery

Congrats! So happy that you're feeling good! Today is one month out for me too! I'm down a total of 35lbs... 17 lbs on the pre-op liquid diet and 18 lbs since surgery. Next week I go for my 1 month check up. I'm hoping to get cleared to start working out. Ready to get more weight gone! I have been completely off Metformin and injected insulin since two days before surgery. I'll get re-evaluated at 6 months to see if I need to be on anything. My numbers during the day have been very good and are still coming down. It's very exciting!
