  1. Sleeved Aug 7. Thought the sleeve was the answer to hunger because the hormone is removed. I have never been so hungry - literally - I am so disappointed because while I can't eat lots anymore (thankfully)' date=' I'm actually more hungry than before. Is this just me or is anyone else experiencing the same?[/quote']

Are u taking an acid reducer? My hunger got better after I went on one (sleeved on Aug 6). I still get hungry but it is an appropriate amount (when I haven't eaten for 3/4 hours).

  2. I was bloated for a week. Very very puffy. But I suppose between the gas and the beating up we got in surgery it doesn't surprise me.

I'm looking forward to next week where I can eat a few more things like scrambled eggs' date=' white fish and lentils. I need to chew something.

Does anyone else weigh them selves everyday? I think I'm doing my head in and need to restrict myself to one or twice a week . Any advice? Thoughts? I'm getting a bit cross with myself because my weight hasn't shifted in to days and thin start thinking well maybe he didn't do it right? But then I go to eator drink and there definitely sent much space in there. I think I'm making myself crazy.

Only weigh yourself once per week MAX! I'm doing it on Tuesdays (day of my surgery). Girl don't trip! ;)

  3. I hear you on struggling with food looking good again. We went to the movie today and I did bring a couple of sugar free hard candies to suck on during the movie with my Water. It helped a bit' date=' and just gave me a tiny bit of burping.

I had a breakdown tonight struggling with being so hungry and unable to eat. I know this is going to be a hard road, but the speed bumps are arising so quickly!

    I'm all for starting a post-op august 6 thread...or FB Group? I could start a secret group if you're interested![/quote']

Yes! Lets start a FB group (secret)! Its nice to have a group all sleeved on the same day to compare notes with!

  4. I'm supposed to have 48-64 oz fluids & 45-80 grams Protein. For me that means at least 16 oz Protein Drink and 32 oz Water. No more than 8 oz per hour. I've gotten in almost half of my requirements by mid day' date=' but I've been sipping constantly since I woke up. I want to take a nap, but worried about staying hydrated.[/quote']

Right now I'm just doing broth, apple juice, Gatorade, Water. I'm not having problems drinking & have to be careful NOT to drink more than 8OZ per hour. I plan to switch to Isopure & water on Sunday (I'm traveling & don't have any Isopure).

When do you go to full liquids & what are your requirements then how much / how often, etc? Details would be MUCH appreciated.

Maybe we should switch to an Aug 6th post-op thread or start a group? :)

  5. WARNING....THIS MAY BE TMI........

Need some input......I'm on day 1 of the clear diet protocol........and complete diarrhea......is anyone else having this?

I don't feel ill' date=' no temperature.......feels like when I did a colonoscopy.......everytime I drink, 5 minutes later I'm heading to the bathroom.....I'll call the dr's in the morning.....but wondering if anyone else is having this too.

    Thanks![/quote']

Are you drinking too much artificial sweetener? Chewing too much gum? I had it the first day bad (but I also took a laxative in the morning) -- was better the 2nd day (only a little, once).

  6. My doctor said not to pay attention to the calories' date=' just stick to protiens and fat and protien shakes. I have already been following Atkins Phase 1, so that is what I am doing. I fill up faster and stay satisfied longer when I eat only protiens.[/quote']

Can I ask what your BMI is? I'm wondering if people with higher BMI (like me -- mine is 46) need to restrict their calories while people with lower do not.

  7. According to my Dr. The liquid diet is to help shrink your liver before surgery so it won't be damaged by the procedure since most big people have fatty livers and the liquid Protein diet helps reduce the size of it' date=' to avoid complications of the liver being injured during surgery. And it also prepares you for after your surgery on what to expect after your sleeved, since you'll be on liquids and Proteins shakes for awhile.[/quote']

The high protein / low carb diet should do the same thing as the liquid version (cause the liver to shed the "sugar" it is storing). I think they also try to restrict calories to help lose additional weight before the surgery (including fat around the liver). My guess is the liquid diet is easier to portion. I was put on the liquid diet but asked if I could do high protein / low carb solid foods instead & my doctor said yes (but to keep portions small).

  8. I am schedule for my sleeve on August 6' date=' 2013 with Dr. Lopez. Janese is my coordinator and whenever I try to call I have to leave a message which is okay because to me that means she giving someone her undivided attention. However she does not call back she responds with an email. I am very unhappy with that. I have so many questions. For example, because my flight is 14 hours long how I am supposed to take a laxative. I arrive at 10 pm that night the day before my surgery. Also, what kind of laxative? I went to a pharmacist and they thought I had lost my mind telling them I needed a laxative for pre-op and could not tell them what kind. Someone please help. So many questions and so little answers in less than 2 weeks away.[/quote']

I'm having my surgery with Dr Lopez on the same day and also have the same coordinator. Sleeve Buddies!!!!

I recommend making a list of questions and ask Janese to send it to the dr for answers. That is what I did. She sends it to Dr Ortiz (sp?) who is on Lopez's team. I just purchased an over-the-counter laxative to use. Nothing special. I purchased "Successful Weight Loss with the Gastric Sleeve" by Dr Alvarez on Kindle. I found it helpful.
