  1. Anyone else having what I'm calling "surgery brain"?? I'm having a really hard time concentrating on anything else' date=' work, etc. It's not even that I'm thinking about surgery, I just can't focus. I can't turn my brain off at night either.[/quote']

I am with you, I spend everyday researching products to use for pre-op so I understand. I am really excited to not have to be in pain anymore. I have pain in my knees and ankles due to carrying so much weight. I am also over processing the surgery and the after affects. I don't want to do any work while at work because I feel there is more information I can be researching. Lol

  2. Going through a very stressful time at work and am falling back into old coping habits...Food

Can't seem to stop shoving crap in my mouth and its killing me. Not a complete off the wagon gorge myself, but I snack on "stuff" all day. Very down on myself about it. Just felt like telling my friends.

Its ok, sometimes it gets hard and we can fall back on what we are familiar with and is comfortable. But the good thing is you know what to do to get back on track. You dont have to feel bad about what you are going through but dont allow yourself to get stuck in it. Find good snackable food so that at least if you are going to snack its healthy. I am a stress eater sometimes and I know that I have to have healthy things around me and at work to make sure the first choice to put in my mouth is a good choice. It will be ok and we are here for you. :D

  3. I guess it's just because I'm not used to people focusing on what and how much I eat.. And with my close friends and family monitoring what goes into my mouth it makes me self conscious.. I am normally by far from self conscious

See, this is the reason why I have limited the people who know that I am taking this journey. I dont need anyone to watch what I eat or how much I eat. That can really make you guarded with people where you dont want to tell them anything in regards to your weight so that you dont have to deal with the evil eye every time you put something in your mouth. I trust you know what you can and can not have so no one needs to be a food monitor for you.

  4. I got my final email today so the date of Aug 29th is set in stone. I have an appointment on Aug 19th I have an Anesthesia Appointment, Updated History and Physical, and Consent & Nutrition Teaching. I am really excited that it is really going to happen. Once again I am so happy I can scream  I will keep reposting this until in really sinks in. lol

    31st kellygirl,

Hey I just wanted to say you can take me off of the 23rd that was changed. You still have me on the 29th which is a good date and I am very happy.

  7. You in the best of hands' date=' and I'm not saying that because I work there ;-)... Maybe I could stop by the CCD and see how your doing![/quote']

I would love that. Thank you. I picked this hospital because I feel they are the best in every department I have worked with.

  8. Hello ladies' date=' I'm new to the forum with Chicago...

I've been considering WLS since 2005, but because of lifes ups and downs... I had to stop the journey :(.

I'm finally in the position to have the surgery. I'm in the beginnig process and I've contacted my insurance company (BCBSIL ***), they of required a letter from my pcp and the surgery would be covered 100% along with the specialist visits (with a referral) with a 10 co-pay. Its really up to my PCP, who I will be meeting for the first time soon. Hoping everything goes smoothly!

Does anyone else have BCBSIL ***? What was your process like?[/quote']

Hey I also have BCBSIL and I had to do that too. I went to the seminar where they tell you about everything and then I had to pick a PCP and she understood why I wanted to do it and was happy to ok me doing it. It took 3 to 5 days for them to approve the procedure. I say 3 to 5 days because it was being held up a little because my paper work was not sent in when I was told it would. So for me it was a 4 month process from start to approval with my hospital.

  9. I believe that everyone has some doubts and fears when it comes to surgeries and there complications. I had a major surgery when I was a child' date=' the WLS can't compare... So I'm not scared of the surgery itself, but the eating healthy part is going to be challenging. Yes, I made the decision to change my life and how I do things... but habits do not disappear over night! So my fear is that I won't be able to stick it out til the end. :( :( But I'm keeping the faith, it'll all work out! I HOPE[/quote']

I fear surgery but its not as big as the fear of not being able to keep up my part of this journey. So, I completely understand what you are saying about making changes and doing the work. But I do know I did not come this far to turn back or fail so I think we all will be fine.

  10. I got my date but they have changed it 3 times in a 5 hour span. I went from Aug 23, a date that my surgeon does not do surgery. Then to the 22nd but they took so long that I lost the date, so now it is official the date is the 29th of Aug. I am now waiting to receive my email on the next steps I need to take. I am feeling a little nervous because the date means its really going to happen and I am thinking about the after affects. What is going to work and what I need to do and eat? I know it will all come to me when the time comes but it does not stop me from thinking about the "what if's".

  11. Newbie here, I'm Tracey westside of Chicago. I've been thinking about WLS since 2005. I haven't had a chance to start the process because of lifes ups and downs, but I'm ready to finally start the process. I've been morbidly obese my entire life... now that I'm older I'm ready to finally make a change. i'm currently under the BCBSIL ***... thur my employer and far as I know, I'll have to have a referral from my PCP on 9/10/2013... I also know that the surgery will be covered at 100% and all testing and specialist visit are covered with a referral with $10 co-pay...of course lol. Like I said before, I'm new to the process, so I'm hoping that things will go smoothly... considering that my first visit with my PCP, will be to get a referral to see the surgeon on 9/9/2013.

Does anyone else have BCBSIL ***? How long did it take for you to get approved?

Also, I want to say congrats to you guys for making the decision to change your life... to get healthy... and living a better life!

Hey congrats on the decision to get started. I have bcbsil, it took about 3 to 5 days to get approved but I think it depends on who is reviewing your claim. I know someone who was approved in 3 days so its really not to long. Once again congrats

  12. Ok, sleeve family, I have been told that my date was Aug 23 and then found out that my doctor does not do surgery on Fridays. This is good because that is my anniversary so my hubby is happy but then they tell me the 22nd but by the time she responds back someone has taken my date. So, now my date as been put on the books as 29th of August. So I will be crossing over on Aug. 29th. I am so happy about it and cant wait. I should receive an email by Tuesday with all the information on what I should do at this point. I want to say congrats to all who have a date and to those who are still waiting good luck on your date and make it soon.
