  1. I think it depends on your pain tolerance. I read many post before my surgery and I got the impression I would not be in a lot of pain. I also have had a couple of surgeries many years ago and only remembered the discomfort of the gas pains. However, although I was on the pain pump in the hospital the pain was extreme to me, from the right side of my belly and the terrible gas. The walking did not help my gas pains, but many have posted that it helped theirs. My husband is a nurse and prompted me to continue to walk anyways to prevent blood clots, so I walked. I started taking the gas x strips on the 3 day after surgery and begun getting relief the following day. I hope you fall into the category with minimal pain. Whatever, the pain I know it is temporary and I would have the surgery again! I am 11 days post surgery.

    Leg and foot swelling?

My hand, legs and feet were swollen, I came home with about 15 pounds water retention. I was sleeve 9/16, today I finally hit a pound under my surgery weight. I found the more liquids I can get drink, the faster the water retention started coming off.
  3. I am 10 days post op and mine's are itching, especially the incision on my right side.
  4. I was ashamed that I let my weight get out of control and got so many medical problems. I knew my family history and I was not able to control my eating. I do not think I would of felt shame if it were not for my health. My last child was born in 1998 and in 2000 I was diagnosis with type II diabetes. He only knows a mother with health problems and he is a bit overweight, also, so I am ashamed of that also. My oldest is more active and is of normal weight.
  5. I hope your husband feels better soon.

    Liquids day 1 sucks

I feel for you. Thankfully, I only had one day of clear liquids, the day before surgery. I was glad it was on Sunday, so I could be at home and not work.

    Im freaking out

I am a little over a week out and feeling similar to you. I have been very emotional, but I think it does not help that I am no longer on hormones which has helped keep my emotions be more balanced in the past. My bariatric dr. stated I resume the hormones after a month out. Also because I am still in pain and taking pain meds, I cannot be as busy as I would like too . However, my family, close friend and this forum helps me to try to stay positive, I know this stage will pass.

    Pain lots or little?

Unfortunately, I fell into the category that I am experiencing extreme pain.. Thankfully the gas is less severe...but the incision sites and my insides throb, burn and very painful moving. I move around very slowly and take my prescribed meds around the clock. I am glad many others are not experiencing extreme pain. I had my surgery on 9/16 and. I know with time I will heal and the pain will cease. I have no regrets. I was aware that it could be very painful.
  22. Hi, This first few days after surgery have been rough. I came home yesterday, but still need pain meds every six hours related to the incisions. The gas is also very painful. However, started passing some of it yesterday. I am full of fluids, hand, stomach and legs swollen.. My potassium went very low and my sugar went up in the hospital. No regrets, but ready to feel better so I can focus on my new life change. I read so many post that other sleeves pain was just a little discomfort, I hoped that would be me. Oh well, this too shall pass!
