Weightloss-Best Things To Eat
I'm week 8 and haven't stalled yet. Down 39 lbs. the only differences between me and a majority of people on here are these: 1. My surgeon was liberal with advancing my diet and I was on "regular" food after 3 weeks. 2. I made sure to eat a minimum of 800 calories per day and by 6 weeks had increased it to a steady 1100 (somedays 1000 but some 1200. 1200 is my top limit) Find out what works for your body. Good luck!

Anybody Else Cheating?
MississippiQ, you might be sitting in the corner, but your friends are waiting for your timeout to finish so we can go outside for recess. Ok, stupid analogy, but I am concerned for you and want you to be careful!!!! I also want to see you succeed and graduate from elementary school with the rest of us.

Slow Weight Loss, Feel Angry And Cheated!
You said not to mention weight loss stalls, But I believe the "three weeks stall" can last several weeks. I can't advise any more than that because you didn't give much information on what you're doing etc. but it will happen. Hang in.

Anybody Else Cheating?
I think at this point it's less about "cheating on a diet" and more about making sure your body has enough time to heal. I'm not a surgeon but I've watched a couple videos on the VSG surgery. They disconnect your stomach from from where it attaches to other parts of your body and then they start cutting, then stapling. With your surgery being on November 21 you're still very new to healing. I believe that's two weeks today and after only 1 week you were eating solids! My doctor moved my diet on quicker than most but please just be careful so you don't have a complication. And as mentioned by the vets around here the struggle is only going to get worse. Have you seen a therapist? The surgery doesn't take away emotional issues and is something that I have to work on every single day. Good luck.

Perspective On Portions
I think our heads are definitely playing tricks on us!! I expected a lot of mental/emotional adjustment but this one is weird to me. Glad I'm not alone!

Perspective On Portions
I stayed within my protein/calorie goal this holiday weekend but felt like I was eating a lot. After reflecting, I think it wasn't really a quantity issue but more of an off-routine issue which made me feel less in control. I asked my fiancé if he thought I was eating too much after we had dinner on Friday at his parents house. They had served lasagna which is not something I would've chosen at home. His response was, "I think you barely eat anything at all. If I had to eat what you eat, I think I'd die." So even though I felt like maybe I was eating too much, I think maybe it was just that I'm so used to weighing and measuring my food and because I ate an unmeasured portion, I was getting scared that I was pigging out when in reality I wasn't. Had this happened to anyone else?

Am I Eating Enough ?
I know! My surgeon would have never said that. I am hoping it was a poorly worded reaction resulting in a misunderstanding. I think the OP is doing great!

Am I Eating Enough ?
I'm 7 1/2 weeks and have lost 34 lbs. I haven't stalled yet but my loss is slow. I don't think you're eating enough simply by calories but lots of others on here eat the same as you. I get 1000-1200/day. Just hang in! You're losing plenty!

Back To Work Tommorow--Need Words Of Wisdom
I agree that it sounds like you're well prepared! I went back after 2 weeks and was more than fine but I have a desk job. Hopefully the extra week for you will be enough. My words of wisdom: I actually like the routine if work days because I find it's easier to get my Protein in etc. So that might be a positive for you too!

Thanksgiving Challenge
I am 1 lb away from my goal but I'm ok. I'm just happy that I'm 52 lbs lighter this thanks giving than I was last year!

Problems Going Early To Stages
My guidelines had me eating regular food by 3 weeks. You might be able to, but I highly suggest following your surgeons guidelines. We may have both had VSG surgery, but not all surgeons perform the procedure identically. If you're still confident when your doc/nutritionist office opens up after the holiday, call and check. They might advance you. Good luck!

When Am I Going To Be Able To See My Progress?
It took me a month to lose the swelling that surgery caused. All of a sudden I couldn't keep my pants up anymore. You're normal!!

What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
Globe, As I said in my nasty retort, I might be wrong but it seemed a certain way to me. You've said that I am wrong, so I am sorry for the misinterpretation. I still feel like it was condescending, but I can't tell you how you meant something, I can only tell you how it made me feel. Thanks for clarifying.

What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
You really took the time to summarize how I feel and I just wanted to say that you said it so well!! I say I do moderation, but I still majorly limit the non-healthy stuff by also not keeping it in my house and tracking every single bite. And nuts are ridiculous. I love them and the only way that I can keep them around is by having single serve packs. Otherwise it's too easy to add a few more...

My Fitness Pal
It depends on the day. I use it like my credit card... It's there if I'm in a pinch, but I try not to use it otherwise. If I do end up using it though, I don't beat myself up as long as I stay under my calorie goal.

Looking For Some Insight
I'm 6 weeks post op and my anxiety/panic has gotten slightly better. I'm on a whole different emotional roller coaster though... Stupid fat hormones! You should definitely call the doc if if happens again.

Sick Of Compliments And Comments
I had this problem way before WLS. I am not really into fashion but I do try to look nice. I tend to repeat a lot of outfits. At any given time I have about 7-9 work outfits on rotation. So, when I get a new shirt, what happens?? People gush all day about my new shirt and how that color is so pretty! Are people just trying to be nice? Yes. Do I get uncomfortable? Undoubtedly. So, I avoid attention by sticking to plain, boring clothing at work. About 2-3 yrs ago I started liking skirts and I bought a few but never have worn them to work because I don't want to hear it all day!! Instead I save them for non-work. I have actually been working on these issues because I know it's not "their" problem, it's mine. I've gotten better but it's still hard to accept compliments even when well intended. I'm not saying that's your problem, but maybe it's someone's in here. I do think though that bombarding you with an unauthorized photo shoot and taking about your shrinking ass is a bit unprofessional. Good luck with your "I" statements!

For Those Of Us Who Weigh Everyday, Do You Notice A Trend?
I am a daily weigher and I don't notice any trends. I'm still new, only 6 weeks out and it goes down a little everyday. I just wanted to mention that I liked your comparison of your scale to brushing your teeth and another poster saying it's just another tool in her toolbox... Well said! That's how I feel too.

How Long Did You Wear Your Belly Band After Surgery?
I didn't have one but it sounds like it's helping you. I can't imagine a reason why it would be bad to keep wearing it.
