  1. Thanks everyone for helping me get through this bad patch. I've gone back to journaling my food which has helped me and although I'm not totally back on yet. I'm still hanging on, I've been in to many tempting situations the last few day (My mom baked 4 dozen Cookies for my kids and I can't stay away) Anyway, still working out and eating better (just had a salad).

And to theboincbroad, just take it one step at a time. Try writing down what you eat and planning you meals for a while, that's what I have to do, and I'm not as likely to snack. Hang in there, I am confident that you will get back on track.

  2. :rain:I've been on a high Protein, low fat , no sugar diet for about a month now. I passed nutrition 3 weeks ago and have been left to fend for myself ever since. Over the last week or so I've begaun to sneak in no-no foods and today I just totally fell off.(I have kept up with my workout though, that why I haven't gained any of the weight back that I've lost so far.) I meet with the surgeon on next week and I'm afraid that he'll say I'm not ready for the band. This is the last step in my journey b4 insurance so I'm just really getting depressed. :cry Any advice... should I just forget about banding? I know the band is a tool and I have to have the disipline to make it work but it seems like I don't have that.

Oh well..Thanks for listening (well reading):think

  3. hey fellow teacher's is it me or are the back to school commericals comming on earlier this year.

Anyway, I'll be starting my liquid diet about the time we return to school (Aug. 27th) any suggestion for dealing with all the staff breakfasts and lunches. (I haven't told anyone that I'm getting banded)

    Thanks.

  4. I am so excited/proud of myself today. Today was the first day that I felt like I wanted to workout today, before it kinda been a "have to" instead of a "want to." Anyway after working out I felt so good that I parked the car at home and walked most of the places I had to today.

So I was wondering, once you decided to get banded what was your first moment or benchmark that made you realize that you were on the right track and making a positive change in your life? I'm still a pre-bander in the pre-liquid diet and I have already started to see small changes (both physical and mental). My first moment was when I realized my clothes started fitting comfortable, and almost baggy, what about you?

  5. I have a friend who thought briefly about getting banded but her hubby was against it. She flat out told me, "I don't think you should have surgery. I'd think you be more sucessfull we did it together so how about we just diet together and you not have the surgery." :rolleyes I'm not even banded yet but hope to be within the next few months so we'll see if she sticks around (hope so). I hope she re-examines the band.

  6. I'm a teacher too and have also had trouble getting my sugery scheduled this summer. It looks like it'll be in September or October. I don't want to take off at the start of the school year but I can't to really start losing some wait so...i guess i have to do what i have to do. I just can't stay this weight anymore so cheer up and remember that everything happens for a reason (even when we don't understand the reason) and to do what's best for you.

  7. Hi fellow teachers,

I am so glad I was sent to this thread. I'm not banded yet, and it looks like it'll be close to the begininng of the school year when I have the surgery done, and I have really began to get worried about handling everything. I am a special Ed. teacher in the Cleveland area and am look foward to my new banded life but as many of you know and have shared, the short lunch periods and infrequent bathroom breaks really scare me, since I haven't told anyone I'm having wls. Anyway just wanted to introduce myself. Talk to you all soon.

By the way, how soon did you return to work after getting banded???

  8. That's for your replies. I have been concerned because I haven't told anyone I was going to be banded. I was hoping to get it done over the summer but it looks like it will probably happen in September some time even still I wasn't going to really tell anyone but you have made me feel like I can do this. One more question...How long did you take off work??

  9. I am getting so frustrated. I just got a call saying that they have to reschedule my appointment with the surgeon until August 8th instead of Wednesday. This is supposed to be the last step in order to send my paperwork to the insurance company. I've been on this diet for 4 weeks so far and I'm starting to have trouble sticking to it. UGH!!! Will I ever get a date?!?!?! I just want to be banded so badly....:faint:

  10. Hey bandsters,

I am a teacher and I'm concerned about returning to work after surgery. Unlike most business folks I can't go to the restroom whenever I need to I have to wait until class is over. How have you handled returning to work, what about the PBs? I just getting nervous since this actually seems to be getting ready to happen. :help:

  11. Hi fellow bansters and pre-bandsters,

I finally got my date moved up with my surgeon to next week!!! So excited cuz I might actually be banded before summer vacation is over. I'm so excited, but I'm beginning to get nervous about the actual procedure and my life after banding. Just wanted to share with you and ask for any words of encouragement.:paranoid

  12. Hello all,

I'm a pre-bander without a date, but my nutritionist says I should be exercising at least 6 days a week. So I've started walking, and have been trying to find some kind of exercise tapes or programs to get into at home when the weather is no good. Any suggestions?
