lap bander wants gastric bypass ins. pay?
oreokitty replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think I heard if tehre was complacations some ins may consider it WHY would you want your lapband removed?? I love mine it is my best friend. IT still allows me to eat to much but it is working. -
I also have had some irrartation in the band area By my breast bone. I went in for the scope and they said i had a mild irratation and they gave me a med to take for 3 weeks and than they put me on prilosec otc SO far that seems to have helped I do have days that it is so bad I so not want to eat anything but yogert You are right about everyone saying to call the doc I woudl say the same thing but I just told you what I went thru everyone is different. (and I do not want to get yelled at again for not saying call teh doc) I put up with the burning pain thing for like 3 months before I said I can not handle it any longer and what helped I could have went to the store and bought But they do say that can also be a sign of slippage and/or erosion Good luck

I normally do not post but I do read in to this site lots. I was banded on June 18 07 My whole family is upside down and we are on the edge of a mountain I have only been able to withhold this long is because of Christ Because of all the stress I am slowly turning back to food Please pray that everything will get settled in Gods time (not my time) My husband and I s friends from church are also praying that we will have peace and everything will work out that the truth will show. Thnak you all for your prayers and thoughts for my unspoken problems I know GOD will carry me thru this hard time

All I can say it do it do it do it as fast as you can I am a type one diabetic on the insulin pump I have been a diabectic for 26 years My diabetic doc was unsure but I found a great surgeon that has done the lap band on other type ones. I was out of teh hospital the same day I had no complaications A little red in teh healing area so they put me on meds that took care of it. I felt horriable before the band and I have a new life now I have lost 90 lbs You will face some different problems along the weight loss but it will all work out There is not much data about diabetics type one having teh surgery but I say go for it I would do it all over again if I had to I extended my life I have with my family because of the less weight and I have so much better controll of my blood sugars. PM me if you would like more info I am all for this surgery

they can feel the port than they numb the area and go in with the needle In the band there is blue saline so once they find the port and they think they are in they will withdraw the fluid to make sure it is blue than they inject more blue fluid
-
you are doing great ceredad I am 9 months out and am down 85-90 lbs and my PA told me that tehy normally only see 50 lbs for the first year I was like i am hitting one hundred by my 1 year date SO you are way past me and they said I was going a little to fast. Keep up teh great work This is no easy way out I agree with you saying that a "normal" person has no idea how hard we still work on losing weight

When I can eat nothing else chocolate will always go down easy It is hard at times but we hav eto have will power and eat the right foods
-
I think it is totally worth it I almost took my part out of my husbands 401k so we could make payments on it but we ended up doing a unsecure loan. YOur long life is worth it I have lost 85 lbs and i feel great it was so worth the cost and I would do it again if I had to Maybe take the check from the IRS that shoudl be coming in may and put that towards it. I would check to see if you could find a cheaper doc but you do want a good doc and one semi close to your home for fills and check ups

some days I can eat anything in sight -- I have 8 cc in so my doc will not put any more in - he would like to take some out but I said NO WAY some times like after the 2nd or 3rd bowl of Cereal I need to say what the heck am I doing to myself. So tehre are days I can eat anything you put in front of me and boy do I need will power on those days But than I do have days that I feel fine all day and I am never really hungry I still feel like ytou need strong willpower to loose the weight I think it is just a tool I know someone that has the band and has 8 cc in it and has lost nothing because of no will power

I will never see 150 my goal weight is 175 My husband and extended family is always concerned about me When I was a lot younger in middle high school I starved myself for a couple of years I was in the hospital a few times I think because of my past my family is concerned that I will over do it again like i did before I am almost under 200 that will be great and I will be more than happy at 175 I have been stuck where I am for a while so we will see if I will ever see the 175 Good luck They are just concerned about your health

I am a type one diabetic I have not found many if any on this site I wish I could I was banded on June 19 2007 My diabetic doc was all for the band. My A1cs went down and I feel so much better Our weight loss will be slower than the average lapbander. Surgery went great I was only in there for the day and they sent me home. I have a insulin pump so I did the temp rate for a while and took lots of counts My incisions healed super fast Like I said earlier the weight loss is slower you will be more likely to go into starvation ketones I have had a few problems with ketones make sure you eat at least 1000 cal per day (after you are cleared to eat again) I dropped my cal down to 700-800 cal per day and that was not enough It is like a juggling trick untill you know for sure how many cal to eat My weight seems to stop losing for a few weeks than I lose again I have lost 85 lbs in 8 months. My first ? for the surgeons office would be if they have proformed the surgery on a type one diabetic That is how I picked my surgeon I called around untill I felt like they know what they were talking about. I would do it all over again if I had to PM me if you would like any more information Good luck do not let the diabeties hold you back I did for many years I kept telling myself the doc would never let me get that surgery because i do not heal good enough WOW I healed so fast when my counts were under controll Good luck IT IS SOOOO WORTH IT

I love the show I would change to him in a heart beat if I was closer to him I think you really have an advantage having a doc like him.
-
I would call the doc right away and get in They can have yu do a swallow test or a scope and they can tell lots I woudl not weight much time before I called the doc to see what they have to say I have had a little problem and my office got me right in

I made my decesion in Feb of 07 that I was going to get the lap band I went to the orientation in April 2007 - I had to convence my husband that this was right for me. I am a type one diabectic so I had to make a appointment with my diabetic doc and "get his blessings" Than tehre was teh insurance my BMI was 47 they said it HAD to be 50 before tehy woudl cover it. My diabectic doc wrote a letter to the insurance company and so did my surgeons office I got the approval I had to had teh first vist with teh suergon and than a pysh consult (actually two because of my insurance) than I had the dietian Than teh two week and the one week pre op It seemed like it took forever BUT my surgery was done on June 19 07 BUt it really was not I have talked to people that it was at least one year because of teh insurance company. My brother in law is at 6 months he has finally gotten teh approval now it will be just teh appointments than he will be ready. I think every office is different and every insurance company is different My dad started teh same time I did and he had his in Oct 07 SO about 4 months longer than me but it is done what is a few months when it is a life changing time Good luck

I had a family get together My sister that weighs close to or over 400lbs she told me how how horriable I looked my boobs are hanging and on and on. I have lost 80 lbs I still have 50lbs to go Why couldnt she say O my you are looking good or say nothing at all. She always dresses sloppy and never looks "good" so a comment like that jabbed me in my heart I was thinking wow I must look horriable My husband tried to encouarge me saying she is just jeolous But it still hurts deep down that is my sister we were there for each other for 30 years thru good and bad and she can not support m ethru this. -
Has anyone negotiated the Lap Band Price?
oreokitty replied to sweetrepose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would ask I look and see what my insurance paid and it was less than half of what was billed to the insurance so the doc had to settle for that -
Surgery January 10, 2008
oreokitty replied to FLMan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would ask your doc I was not given a weight restriction on my surgery but you will want to take it easy or the port will hurt -
i had simular problems It depends on your cal intake and so forth When I do get them It is very crapy feeling but they do not last as long as teh did before the band I am hoping as I loose more weight they will get evan lighter

Anyone want to join me in a get back into the swing of things support thread???
oreokitty replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I totall;y understand what you are going thru I hit my 80lb mark but now I am back to 72-75 lbs And right now I am to sick to think to much about it I am making sure I put into fitday everything I eat. I have been sick for almost 2 weeks now and on meds for one week and it does not seem to be getting better But the meds is a BIG pill so I hav eto break it in half so I will not get sick from that Hang in there I am hoping once I start feeling better I will hopefully be more active and be able to eat healthier also -
My doc did my surgery and he does my fills and he has a horriable time finding the port opening. Mine is also pointing to the floor to it is alot of poking and pushing and I am normally black and blue on my stomack when he is done He said that my port is on eof the hardest he has to find and he also said that my port is part of the way flipped BUT when I loose more weight he is thinking that it may straighten out (I hope so) I think I may be a little tight right now but I avaid fills and unfills as much as possiable because of the time it takes. I am normally in teh office with my shirt up and being poked for a good 30-40 min. (and my office is over one hour away from me) I would not think to much of the needle pokes and pushing but I would be more pushy to make sure he does the right amount of Fluid. My doc always talks to me and we decide what he will put in (and if it will be worth the pain) and than he will do it. He always numbs the area on my stomach but he normally has to numb it at least 2-3 times because it will start to wear off before he is able to finish Good luck I think if I were you I would just express my concern that he may not be listening fully and the fluid amount is not always correct
