    Edamame: Have You Tried It?

If they are in the pod still how do you measure them out to track? Might sound like a stupid question...sorry...

This is why im doing it

Wow, what an insensitive friend!! But boy can I relate to everything you said! I was sleeved on the 26th and already my relationship with food feels way different. But I did it for many of the same reasons you described. Now that the pounds are coming off and I did something pretty drastic to make it happen, my heavier friends and sister are getting kind of nervous and uncomfortable. I don't want them to be but I inwardly sigh when they talk about the next diet they are going to try (hcg, WW, South Beach, etc). They all currently weigh less than me so they keep saying they wouldn't qualify for surgery. It isn't true but I think it makes me feel better saying it. I'll let them but the thing is, I won't weigh more than them for long. This is all a work in progress...
  4. You were also sleeved on 26th right? What type of puréed food have you had? I'm still waiting for Monday's appt with surgeon and dietician...I plan to make a crockpot of refried Beans and I found a yummy looking ricotta bake recipe I might put together. Anything, please, other than liquid!!!!
  5. Was sleeved on 8/26. One bout of horrible cramps and that was it. My three days in the hospital were so pleasant I didn't want to go home!! I'm thankful that I did not experience any severe gas pains nor did I have any trouble swallowing. I, too, was so afraid of the expected pain and difficulties but was pleasantly surprised. I had three c-sections and a couple other gynecological same day surgeries and this was BY FAR the easiest. My best advice to you is WALK!!! I walked the halls morning noon and night. I got home on a Wednesday and by Thursday I was walking a mile in my neighborhood. I walked around a cul de sac every time I had a protein drink. I am up to two miles now, at nearly two weeks out and I am convinced that this is helping my recovery. Plus, after the initial post op gain of a few pounds (due to water/fluid gain) my scale is is going down down down. Wishing you lots of luck!!!!
  6. I wore roomy comfy yoga pants and a cotton loose tank top home. I had no bra issues so underwire was fine. I did buy bigger undies to wear in the hospital and they really did come in handy. Like someone up thread, I also have a recliner in my bedroom and found it essential for the first week.

    RTD or Protein Powder

My doctors office offers all kinds of protein powders and RTD bottles. I really like the chocolate light Core Power. It's the "cleanest" protein drink I've come across. It's horribly expensive (to me anyway) at $3.00 a bottle. But since I'm still on liquid post op diet I'm allowing a splurge of one a day.
  8. Meant to say I'm seeing them on Monday. Autocorrect can be so weird. Anyway, are you feeling full on small amounts of food now? It's my biggest concern, that I'll be the one sleever in history who still has a huge appetite!!

    Normal meds

I take 5 pills at night that have nothing to do with the surgery. I put them in a cup and take one at a time every ten minutes or so with water. If I'm watching tv I take one every commercial break. In the morning I take my vitamins the same way, one every ten minutes. With a good sip of water.
  10. I had one bout of pain (more like bad cramps) on day one in hospital otherwise I have felt pretty good. I'm nearly two weeks out. I was in the hospital for three days. First day home I walked a mile. I'm now up to two miles. I'm so grateful to have had an easy recovery. The post op liquid diet is a drag but manageable. It's fun and gratifying to see the scale go down a little every day. Wishing you good luck!!!
  11. Totally hungry and completely sick of liquids. Was sleeved on the 26th. Pre op diet two weeks and now all liquid post op. Have my two week appt with doc and nut on among any and hope to get released to purée or mushy or whatever. Anything has to be better than this. First week I was totally full, this week not so much.

    I lost what?

I lost a 3 gallon tub of ice cream.
  13. Totally see the difference and I bet it would be even more dramatic if your clothes weren't so big. We do tend to wear clothes that are too big for us, don't we? My husband complains all the time that everything I wear is too big. Anyway, keep up the good work!! You are doing great!!!!
  14. I was sleeved on the 26th. Since coming home on the 28th I have felt very full on the protein broth, pudding, and shakes from my doctors office. Now, all of a sudden today I am HUNGRY and LIGHTHEADED. I'm getting 64ounces plus of water so I'm sure it's not dehydration. Has anyone else experienced this? I felt so comforted by the fullness and lack of hunger before. Thanks.

    Post op hunger

Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like more solid food will help stave off hunger. I hope so! I liked last week better, not feeling hungry. Hopefully I move to purée and soft foods on Monday.

    I started a blog

I did and this time got a confirmation email. I didn't yesterday. Another delicious recipe!!!! I cannot wait to start real food!!!!
  17. Thank you all for chiming in. I'm a classic worrier.

    I started a blog

The recipe sounds great. I commented and then saw it was filled with autocorrect typos! Horrors! Anyway, love the blog, thanks for the update. Incidentally, I didn't get an email "alert". Just FYI.

Loved the blog!! Keep on writing please!!!
  20. When I was in the hospital getting sleeved I swore I wouldn't get on the scale until my two week post op appt. ha! I get on every single morning. Well, I skipped one morning and actually felt nervous, like, the pounds were going to magically creep up bc I didn't keep them in check. I like your son's insight. I also like the NSVs that people report bc those are what we should all be the most proud of.
