    Before

I have placed a photo taken 6 years ago along side of what I look like now! I was told by a number of people that I looked like a drug addict after losing 6 stone. Erm I don't think so, do you? Some people will never have a nice word to say. Roll on my op so I can look like a drug addict again ha ha.

    7 MONTH POST OP

    Wow Hot Hot Mama :-)
  12. Hi, thought it might be a good ideas to tell you a little about my journey as I have enjoyed reading about others. I'm 51 years old, a wife of 30 years and mother of two boys 25 and 18! I have had weight issues from about the age of 9. My relationship with food has been one of love and hate! I have tried many diets, some have been successful, I have lost more than 90lbs on occasions, only for the weight to go right back on. This has made me feel like a failure, it has also made me feel out of control. I have tried nearly everything! Including fad diets, starvation diets, pills and potion, ect. I have had therapy which did help with the way I used food emotionally. It was my therapist that first mentioned WLS to me. At that time I was still of a mind that I could do this weight thing on my own. I now realise that I have no potion control at all. I am indeed like a alcoholic when faced with certain foods. So three years after WLS, was first mentioned to me, and me now using food in a more appropriate way, I am as heavy as ever. I know this surgery is a tool, but it is one I NEED! I need the restriction it will give me, the hunger feelings being hushed. It has been liberating finding this forum! To know that I am not alone! To find others that understand! I am looking forward to making this journey, to supporting and being supported.

  15. Hi, I'm new as well. I'm living in the UAE but traveling back home to the UK for my op. I'm having my consultation on 26th with Dr Mannur at the Spire Roding Hospital. I have a couple of friends who have been sleeved by him. Hoping to have the op on 15/16th August a little nervous. I will die if I can't have it so fingers and toes crossed. My name is Joanne :-)
  16. Hi, I'm a newbie and a bit of a computer phobic lol just trying to get to grips with things. I have a number of very close friends who are being very supportive of my decision to have surgery. Alas there are lot's who are not! can anyone advise how to deal with negativity? :-)

    Friend or foe?

After reading these answers and contemplating things. I have come to the realisation that most of the negative people have indeed been those, that have been helping to kill me with kindness. Some when being told I am dieting have bought me boxes of chocolates. Others have made a point of making my favourite fattening foods. Often "but you have a pretty face" (thats in the eye of the beholder lol) is said while discouraging me to diet and now I'm having the sleeve. I will change body size, but I will still be me. I think some are worried I will change, become someone else. Well they will see I will just be a happier me and they will have to like it or lump it lol :-)

    Friend or foe?

Hi Cajunlady 12, I think sometimes we expect those close to us or loved ones too understand! Some do and some don't! Seems to be the same in life in general. That's the fab thing about this forum, we are all on a journey together! It doesn't matter who we are or where we come from, there is support and understanding. So glad I found this forum! Thanks :-)

    Friend or foe?

Gmanbat your so right I have spent hours doing research! I like the idea of just binning the negativity and letting the doofuses waller in their doof. As us Brits say " put your chin in the air and walk on by" lol. I really need to learn to do that :-). FranWa after at least 30+ years of constant dieting and failure I can't wait to start living. Have you a date for you op?
