4 months out and I ate the whole can!

Where are you getting sleeved at?
-
Just thought I would share - was speaking to BCBS's insurance person about my upcoming surgery and a couple other non related things. He seemed really knowledgable and was researching things before giving me answers. So I asked him if having plastic surgery was an option if a doc said it was medically necessary. I have read through my benefits book from them and it clearly states plastics isn't covered. But the insurance guy told me he has seen it approved several times as long as it's deemed medically necessary by a doctor, particularly in cases of extreme weight loss. This gave me a little hope that i might not have to pay for this out of pocket.

Struggling, Disappointed with me.
Brighteyes replied to Lia M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started to see a therapist months before I even thought about surgery. It was the best decision I ever made. I am being sleeved in less than a week. But the hard work I did with the therapist has prepared me mentally. I have been able to implement all the NUT recommendations prior to surgery. Even though I am not in your situation seeing a therapist might be beneficial. I wish you all the best -
You know you're on the Pre-op diet when...
Brighteyes replied to Italiancurves's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg...this made laugh. I had dreams of chewing food last night. I am not hungry, just wanting something to munch on. Was at the grocery store the other day helping my Mom and walked by hotdogs and instantly wanted one. I hate hotdogs, haven't had one in years. But there I was, staring at the hotdogs drooling. Smh. -
Question...how soon after post op did you start working out? What was the intensity/type of exercise? And how quickly were able to increase the workouts? I know everyone is different. I have been doing crossfit for the past seven weeks and am hooked. I have surgery next Monday. Just trying to get an idea of how quickly I can get back into it once surgery is over. I plan to talk to my doc Wednesday to get his advice too. Just wanted to hear from some people who have been there, done that.

Crossfit is totally addictive but very intense. Fortunately my trainer adjust everything for my fitness level. So it can be modified. Two weeks in I found I had a tremendous amount of energy and I was hooked.

You are on the right track. I would recommend getting things back to basics with your diet. Protein first, log what you eat, and get involved with a support group. Hopefully getting things back to basics will help jump start you. Best of luck.

I am more concerned about my tattoos if I have plastic surgery. I have a feeling one in particular will get cut. :-(

Love anything pumkin! Saving this for postop

This spring this fat girl planted about 300 sq ft of veggie gardens. While most of it fed the neighborhood deer, I was able to harvest a lot of bell and hot peppers. Since it's time to breakdown the beds for winter I harvested the last of the peppers; 8 pounds worth. I spent the day roasting and canning them. I can't wait to use them in different recipes post op. I also already have a full bed of kale growing, with garlic and onions planted. Can't wait to use these things for a healthier lifestyle, not to mention having the added benefit of being active in my gardens. Thanks of letting me share.

Have I messed up?
Brighteyes replied to pjackson0523's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As you can see, many people have been just fine having cheated on their pre-op diets. I am in the middle of mine right now. However, it's still major surgery and the doctor gave you the pre-op diet for a reason. Just disclose to your doc what you did to ensure he is prepared for anything that might be there when he opens you up. -
Seeking advice - protein powders making me nauseous
Brighteyes posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I am doing my pre-op diet. Problem is the protein powders are making me nauseous. I have been experimenting with a couple different ones. They all seem so sweet and that is what is making me sick. Does anyone else have this issue? How did you manage it? Thanks! -
I feel pretty defeated and questioning surgery. Still preop but the protein shakes are making me sick. The idea of drinking one makes me gag. I get nauseous after finishing one. Called my NUT and made some changes like she recommended. She seems to think the problem was the type of protein (whey) or the sweetener. I originally thought it was the sweetness. Still having the same issue. Any suggestions? I can't add things to my protein yet and need to start full liquids on Monday so I need to get this figured out.

Struggling and need help
Brighteyes replied to Brighteyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. I think I finally figured it out. I have had muscle milk lite this am and am sipping on a whey protein shake now. No gagging and seems to be going down okay. I think 34 grams of protein in the am was just to much for my body to metabolize since I am not use to eating protein. -

My height may play the factor in which procedure I have....=/

I guess it helps when you read the last sentence of the original post....darn being nauseous all day and not thinking clearly -
A friend of mine who does cross fit and the whole paleo thing mentioned I needed a Vitamix for the reason I stated above. I will try with my blender and see how it goes.

Tell us about your pet -- and pics!
Brighteyes replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a bit of a full house. My cat, Kermit who is 15 years old. My two rescued dogs who think they own the house, but they kind of do. My pony who is pushing 30 but still is wonderful with kids. And finally my big guy, Moe, who is a high maintained diva of a horse. Lol -
Doc was pleasantly surprised!

Be brave, tell him what a true SOB he is. Maybe it will help him see things from another perspective. -

Uumm....I am 4'10" and being sleeved in less than two weeks. Surgeon never mentioned my height as an issue. Time for a new surgeon.
