Im at the jiggly belly stage. You?
Brighteyes replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gamegirl a good friend of mine had WLS and had the giggles all over. It was particularly bad in her throat/neck area. We thought for sure she would need a facelift. Well a year after hitting goal she looks amazing. All that loose skin seemed to shrink back up. She is in her early 40s and does spend time in the gym. But things improved enough that she isn't going to do plastics. Congrats on the weightloss! -
Random thought: having to do another week of full liquids just sucks!
-
This issue has been bothering me the last two days now. I was sleeved on the 18th of Oct. I am following my doc's post op diet of full liquids for two weeks. I feel like I have minimal restriction with just liquids. If I accidentally take a gulp of liquid then I have pressure in my chest but it quickly goes away (less than a min or two). I can sip my way through a protein shake with no problem. Am I just driving myself crazy, and this is totally normal? Will the restriction be there when I move to more solid foods? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Restriction on liquids
Brighteyes replied to Brighteyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the input. That makes sense to me, I just needed someone who has been through this to tell me it's normal. I have had zero complications, no nausea or vomiting. Besides just being annoyed with protein shakes I still can't get over how smooth things have been. -
On The Verge Of Mental Collapse
Brighteyes replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was right there with you just a couple days ago. Don't stress. Stop weighing yourself everyday. Keep powering through this mental game and get to surgery health and meeting your docs requirements. The weights going to come off. Trust the process. -

I'm a food rebel... you? (rant)
Brighteyes replied to ScottsGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My doc said the first year you have the sleeve things will be easy but after that it will be completely about what you eat and how you exercise. I figure it this way, I have one year to overcome years of bad habits and establish good habits. Fast food to me is crap in and crap out. If I am working out hard my body want better quality foods. As far as artificial sweeteners, I use honey or stevia to sweeten anything I need sweetened. Be a rebel if that is what works for you. I will stick with a proven method my doc and NUT suggest and make this a complete lifestyle change so I have no regrets looking back. -
Coping with whey protein drink intolerance
Brighteyes replied to HR Pro's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I didn't realize I had an issue with the shakes till I was on my pre op diet. I did a lot of different things until I found what worked for me. The trick for me was to only take in 15 grams of protein in the am and then I could handle a higher protein shake in the evening. Figure out what works best for you. I am having to do four weeks of protein shakes (pre op and post op). I can't wait to get done with them. I figure when I only have to do one a day it will be a lot better. Best of luck! -

My surgeon is an avid fitness guy too. He gave me very different advice about working out than your docs did. He knew I was doing crossfit for two months prior to surgery. He told me I could work out as soon as I wanted, but at first he wanted me to keep it to things that didn't make me sweat much (worried about hydration). But he said my body was the best gage of what I could and couldn't do. He also suggested that whatever I was doing prior to surgery that I would only be able to do 10% of that post op. He was pretty right on. Have fun getting back at it!

PIERCINGS AND THE SLEEVE!
Brighteyes replied to sleevinIT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If it's involving your mouth in anyway you"ll need to talk to the anesthesiologist who works separately from your surgeon. -

Hang in there! I had surgery this Monday. It's a bit of a mental game. Glad the surgeon is taking good care of you. Prayers and healing thoughts coming your way! -
PIERCINGS AND THE SLEEVE!
Brighteyes replied to sleevinIT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I have several and all of them had to come out. Even while I was getting ready in pre op at the hospital the nurse reminded me all body jewelry had to come out. It didn't matter what kind -

Fear of old habits!
Brighteyes replied to m&m4ever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having surgery tomorrow but keep having dreams about having babies (I don't have kids)....so what does that mean? Lol -
Getting sleeved on Monday too! My surgeon said 2 1/2 hours. He is a bit of a perfectionist. He staples, stitches over the staples and does a leak test while you're under.

I just finished up all my pre-op visits and registration with the hospital. Paid for my surgery. Have arrangements made for my dogs and horses. House is clean and I finished my to-do list of things I wanted to handle prior to surgery. Now I just have to show up on Monday to get my sleeve! My emotions are ranging from excited to scared. The surgery itself doesn't scare me. It's the unknown of what my life will be like afterwards that is nervewracking. But more than anything I am just excited. Thanks to everyone who has added their insight and encouragement over my past post.

I can tell you that I have lost 18 pounds doing exactly what you are doing following my doc's pre op diet.
