Just wanted to follow up with this (had to change my username cause of this new app). I am almost three weeks post op. I did a crossfit workout twice this week with my trainer. Biggest differences I had: 1. Any weight I was able to do beforehand I had to dropped in half 2. It took me twice as long to get through my work out 3. Started to have some discomfort with any core focused exercises 4. I am more tired and falling asleep earlier - still getting my 8 hours of rest in though

What Do You Look Forward To?

I spent a stupid amount of time on Pinterest pinning all the cloths outfits I want to wear when I am at goal. I also pin recipes and travel locations I want to go. -
As long as you are not pushing yourself to the point of significant discomfort it sounds like you are doing good. Really focus on staying hydrated over protein. I normally experience slight discomfort when eating, particularly if it's something new. It never last longer than a few seconds. I did find out that when I stopped taking my pain meds that I wasn't able to eat as much. I think the pain meds mask some of the discomfort. Listen to your body and follow your docs plan. You'll be good!

What Should I Stock Up On?
Brighteyes replied to tjdorsett's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was sleeved a little over two weeks ago. Prior to surgery I made a point of eating through all the stuff I wasn't going to be able to eat anymore. So by the time it came to having surgery I had practically had an empty frig and pantry. This has kept all temptation out of my house. I also started experimenting with protein shakes to see what worked best for me. Coming home from surgery I had three different protein powders, four different types of premade shakes, frozen fruit, milk, cocoa, and powdered peanut butter. I was warned not to stock up on a lot of anything cause your taste buds and sense of smell will change after surgery. It worked really well to get me through the full liquids stage. -
New Sleeve Chest Pain
Brighteyes replied to Blondi418's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Could it be stomach spasms? I know at first I was confusing feeling full for stomach spasms. The chest pain sounds like gas. -
How Far Post Op Until Meat?

I am almost three weeks post op and I have had steak, chicken and fish. I am in the puréed phase still. -
I often would mix the chicken and beef broth in the cartons - 50/50 ratio. I would then heat it up with some onions and mushrooms. Before drinking it I would strain the mix. Tasted delish.

What Should You Have In Your Fridge "when You Come Home From Having The Sleeve Done"?

I wasn't always overweight. In college and shortly after I was in amazing shape, very active and enjoying my single life. One of my biggest regrets was not celebrating my body back then. I would always look at myself and think I needed to be thinner. I have promised myself I won't make the same mistake twice. She seems to be driven in being healthy. She might be a great person to buddy up with to be a positive influence in all your healthy changes.

I spoke to my doctor at length before I did this. Two months pre op I had started to do crossfit, so it helped with my recovery. I am not working out at the intensity that I was before, mostly because I don't have the energy. My surgeon has blessed off on everything as long as I can keep up with staying properly hydrated. My main goal in doing this is to ensure I am toned up as I start to drop this weight. I am just concerned that my lack of protein intake is counter productive.

My situation is this: I am two and a half weeks post op. I am back to doing crossfit for my work outs 3 days a week and walking twice a day for thirty mins. Within a day I am getting in 15-20 grams of protein, no more than 400 calories and 64 oz of water. My question is this: Am I being counterproductive in my workouts because of my lack of protein? I am afraid that the weight I am loosing is muscle mass along with all this fat. I know that I need to increase my protein intake, and I am working on that. But can anyone guide me to some information on how to know you are getting enough nutrition to sustain a workout routine. Or if anyone would like to provide some of their insight I would greatly appreciate it.

Okay, I Am Not Seeing A Lot Of Posts Or Has Everyone Stopped Talking To Me!
Brighteyes replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to create a whole new user name. Couldn't remember my password cause I always just use my app and couldn't get the system to reset it. Plus half the time I am not sure if I am reading sleeve forum comments or lap band ones....it's such a pain -
My doctor's and NUT's main objection to caffeine is that it dehydrates you. IMO as long as you are staying well hydrated then caffeine shouldn't be an issue. I am 2 and a half weeks post op. I had coffee once so far. I struggled that day and the next to stay hydrated.

I am a little over two weeks post op. Protein shakes have been making me sick so I have stopped drinking them. I am very diligent about getting protein in by eating 5 times a day. I know I am not meeting the minimum protein recommendations. I am also having difficulty determining when I am full. I generally have some pain and slight discomfort when eating. My main concerns are the lack of protein and if the slight stomach discomfort is normal when eating. Anyone else with similar issues? Any perspective would be appreciated.

Need Some Help....thoughts Please

Makes total sense. I went a little crazy cause I had to get away from the protein shakes. It seems like when I have something new that is when I have the most initial discomfort. -

I am following my docs plan and have been very diligent in it. I did full liquids for two weeks after surgery. I am on puréed foods for about another week and a half before I can start soft foods for two weeks. When talking about eating I am talking about puréed foods. -
It totally normal. I have the same thing happen to me. Drop consistently then stall for a day or two. No big deal. Focus on your hydration first and foremost. If you are being brutally honest with yourself and following your doctors plan then trust the process.

Need Some Help....thoughts Please
Brighteyes replied to Brighteyes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I have tried just about every combination imaginable. I am trying to give myself a break from protein powders this week, just in case it's psychological. And every meal I am eating is all protein. I was concerned that the pain was me over eating. It's slight and just makes me a little uncomfortable for a couple mins. -
Am I Eating Too Much?
Brighteyes replied to LisaDM's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Truth be told, I have no idea what my caloric intake is. I am on puréed foods for the next 12 days before I can move to soft foods. I have been having issues telling when I am full. But my NUT and surgeon told me to focus on hydration for the first two months after surgery. I am off shakes all together cause they were making me sick. -
Give yourself some time to grieve the end of the relationship. Take maybe 5 mins everyday to feel sorry for yourself, cry, scream, whatever you need to do. Then stop it for the rest of the day.

I know numerous people who have done a band to sleeve. You will find surgeons require different pre-op diets. Mine was one week of two protein shakes and a small high protein meal in the evening. Then the second week it was four protein shakes a day. The day prior to surgery it was only clear liquids. Your surgeon will be able to tell you what his plan is. Best of luck!

Mom was supportive at first but questioning things now....
Brighteyes replied to tigermom12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Mom did the exact same thing. For the past couple years she has said I should consider WLS, even gone as far as to offer to pay for it. I decided for myself it was something I wanted. So i sign up for the seminar and invite my Mom. She comes and seems supportive. I get about halfway through all my pre op stuff and suddenly changes her mind. She starts challenging everything I tell her. She even conveniently forgets about all the suggestions of WLS from before when I attempt to remind her. Then a couple weeks prior to my surgery I start to figure out my plan to get to and from the hospital and she starts getting non committal about her plans. So I figure things out and find people I can depend on. As I thought, my Mom wasn't available to take me to the hospital, but my father did. As disappointed as I was I decided I wasn't going to let me affect my decisions or attitude towards surgery. My Mom was in my room when I came out of recovery. She was a great help and encouragement while I was in the hospital. Things have changed. I have chalked up all her behavior to her being scared of me having surgery, particularly one that is elective in nature. Keeping perspective on her feeling has prevented me from cursing her out all together. -
When did you stop cleaning your inscisions and just let them air out and heal naturally?
Brighteyes replied to Italiancurves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So this is what I woke up to. Doc told me to shower normally once I got home. I am 8 days post op and the large patches and hearts are now gone (surgery team must have thought they were cute...sweet gesture). I now just have sterile strips, but some of those are falling off. I am just using an antibacterial soap when showering and leaving them alone. -
As far as sports bras go, I buy mine from an equestrian magazine. I ride horses and I swear the ones I get are amazing. Minimal bouce. They flatten and compress your breast. So much better than the typical champion brand. I generally wear two sports bars. I wear the compression type and then the traditional one over that. Check out Dover Saddlery for their selection.
