For Parents: How'd I do on a discipline issue?

I agree with one month. Your girls are rather young and I think one month will seem like a VERY long time to them!
  2. Wondering what your thoughts are if Dr. Clark performed your surgery.
  3. I'm traveling 3 1/2 hours to Indianapolis - Dr. Steven Clark. Surgery in about a month. I met him Monday and LOVE him. I definitely could be seeing a dr closer - about 35 mins., but for some weird reason I'm drawn to this guy! My mom went with me to the seminar and my first visit aapt. and she thought he was great too. He told me insurance ( I am very lucky) will allow me 23 hours in the hospital. I may get a hotel room for the next night just in case.

    Guy from Houston!

I'm getting banded in about a month and my BMI is 36 also. Have high blood pressure and am prediabetic. Although I haven't gone through it yet I say go for it - wish I had been able to do it when I was 31! Never too late though!

    New & Fresh S

WOW - good luck and good for you for finding another doctor. I totally shut down if someone chews me out. Sorry I can't give you any advice...gettiong banded in a month or so
  6. I'm not sure if I'm nervous about anything except if my insurance co. said no. I don't know why they would though cuz I have high blood pressure and am borderline diabetic. Maybe just a little nervous about losing my hobby - eating! Guess I'll have to find something else and really that is so ok with me. I remember when I was younger and "stomach stapling" was the surgery of choice. I always would wish I would do that but was a chicken. One thing I want to do is take yoga and not feel like a complete idiot. I tried twice but everyone was very slender and I felt like a fat blob. My 16 year old daughter is going to take it with me once I get down in weight a bit! What are you worried about? By the way I have 3 kids too and I lalso LOVE being a mom. enjoy - your kids are younger than mine. I'll have 3 teenagers by the end of summer. they're still fun, but it's very different!
  7. What the heck does bp mean???????????? Hey at least I understood the original question! Getting banded in about a month...

    HYPERthyroid

I am hypo - mom was hyper and had to ahve her thyroid removed. I have seen a dr. who does not believe in the standard guidelines for hypo and hyper meaning that with meds I was considered normal (borderline)but had all the symptoms of still being hypo. He changed my meds and I feel so much better. I guess my point is that if you are borderline, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you start feeling a rapid heartbeat or feel really hyperactive then I'd get it rechecked. My mom was a basketcase when she was hyper - ate whole apples pies adn was a bean pole too! Didn't make me happy since I've always had a weight issue! By the wasy the doctor I saw is an MD, but practices functional and intergrated medicine. He's really helped me a lot with some other medical issues too. Good Luck!

    I need some friends!!!

Hopefully getting this done in Aug. I'll be your friend if you don't mind having one that's twice your age! I'm freakin' awesome too - just wait til I'm banded...
  11. I live in Michigan. Don't know about Medicaid or the hospital - sorry. I just had my seminar and met my dr. on Monday. He is in Indianapolis - 3 1/2 hours away!!!!!!!!! Before I went I went to lapband.com ant then just googled lap band and kept hitting sites. I found one that actually showed a surgery being performed. I think it was done in Hartford Conn. If you aren't the queasy type you should check it out. It was very interesting. I am wondering how tall you are. I'm 5'8" and weigh about 250. I think my "ideal" weight with a BMI of 22 or so is 150. I remember weighing that in high school and thought I was fat! I'd be thrilled to get to 170 which is about what I weighed 19 years ago when I got married. Thought I was fat then too!!!!!!!!
  12. I don't have the exact date yet, but it will hopefully be the end of July or early Aug. Met my dr Monday and love him. Seeing the psychologist on Friday. I actually live 3 1/2 hours from my surgeon!!!!!!!!!! Crazy I know since there are docs much closer by, but I found this guy on the internet and just kept getting drawn back to his page. When I met him I knew he was the right guy! I am totally kew to this messaging stuff so forgive me me if I screw up. I really am not that old. Don't even know how to insert all those cute images:) How muvh to you want to lose? I'd love to lose 70, but will be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy to lose even 40!
  13. You are the first person I'm replying to. I just joined, and I've never really done this messaging thing before. I can't believe you have to wait 6 months. I saw my dr. on Monday and seeing the psychologist on Firday. I was told I can have the surgery as soon as insurance okays it - probably in a month. I am really excited! The worst part for me right now is that my surgeon is 3 1/21 hours away. I found him on the internet and even though there are lots of otheres closer by, this guy's website kept drawing me back. Then when I met him I knew he as the one. I won't be able to go to the support groups because of the distance so I'm glad I found this site.
