  1. I'm having a mini nervous breakdown. Like cry my eyes out and write letters to my husband and kids. I'm so freaking terrified of surgery and feel almost convinced that I will be the 1% mortality. I also feel like I cannot continue to live this way. Did anyone else feel like this or am I having some sort of premonition?

I think we all had that feeling but 4 weeks later I caught a blood clot. My surgery date was 6/25. That's when I thought I was really going to die. Thank GOD, it didn't happen.keep praying for me and i'll do the same....

  2. OMG - How did that happen? Was it related to the sleeve? Did you ever have pneumonia before? What did Dr. say?

Yep, it was from being sleeved. The Dr. at the ER. said that you can get a blood clot anytime after surgery if your obese and they said the pneumonia goes hand and hand with blood clots. I spent 2 days in the hospital then I was transported to a medical rehab place which I spent 7days in pain. I got release with the pneumonia still and having nurses coming to my house because the blood thinner meds I have to take to continue to dissolve the blood clot. Still in pain but can breath a whole a lot better than 10 days ago. So then experienced has not been good for me..... :(

  3. My husband and I both had sleeve surgery in March. Both of us are experiencing terrible pain in our left side (stomach area) and in the left shoulder/collarbone area. The pain has got to be related to gas or something we have eaten. We just aren't sure if it is normal to be experiencing this at five months out? Please provide feedback if this is something you have experienced and if you have solutions for what has helped you alleviate and/or avoid having this terrible pain. We are begging for help! Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry to hear that but I woke up one day having pain in my shoulder and my right side. Also hurting when I breath. I was 5 weeks out. At first my dr. Office thought gas but it came out to be a blood clot and pneumonia. So be careful and good luck.

  4. I am going in tomorrow to get my band un-filled in preparation for revision surgery. And now that its here I can't wait to get this pressure off my chest! Did anyone else have this? I don't notice it all the time' date=' but a lot of mornings and evenings, sometimes during the day, it just feels tight and very uncomfortable. Like something is sitting on my chest. I want to take a deep breath and streatch around. But it rarely helps. It may be heartburn, but I'm not sure. It feels like I'm being squeezed, so I assume its the band.

And it just occurred to me, does the sleeve have any constriction feeling like this? Can anyone who has had their revision band to sleeve relate? How does the sleeve feel?

    Thank you![/quote']

Yes, I went into the hospital with heart pubution and nausea. Come find out it was acid-reflex from the band. The sleeve at the beginning will give u stomach spasms. Good luck

  5. Well the first thing i'll tell you is to follow' date=' to the letter, whatever ur docs orders are. It shud not affect ur dietary consumption but stay mindful nd don't derail by not eating nd drinking as u shud. Did they give u a thinner or somthn to dissolve the clot? As far as the lungs go, make the effort to deep breath nd if u need to cough, then stent it w a pillow nd cough, walk and lay upright as needed to keep the lungs expanded. Did they give u an incentive spirometer, it helps u purposely breathe deeper to clear ur lungs. Have u had a cold? What caused the pneumo? Sry I'm all over the place but as o said, follow docs instructions. If ur panicked, stop bc it'll only make u sicker...if the docs are worried much they'd hospitalized you. Are u hospitalized? Either way, just try nd relax, glad u went to er, nd I'll pray that it all passes soon so that u can get on w ur healthy lifestyle. Ur going to be ok:).[/quote']

Thx so much. Yes I'm on heparin and antibiotics. Late las night I was finely moved to my room. Not sure how long it will take but whatever it takes and your right getting upset make it sooo much worse don't cry because that requires you to breath deeply

  6. Hi, I was /had a revision on 6/25 to sleeved. Everything was going ok till Sunday (4days ago). I woke Sunday with back shoulder pain and it hurst to take deep breath. By Monday the breathing was almost unbearable and the pain moved to my rib under my cheast and right back. So went to my Dr. Office which said I'm 4 weeks post-op and should out of the woods for leaks or clots. U may have gas but if the problem is still there by Tuesday (day3) go to emergency room at the hospital where I had my gastric sleeve on 6/25. Well by 3rd day my pain was the roof. After all the test. I have a blood clot and small case of pneumonia in my lungs. ...wow...help

  7. Just wondering how long it took to get in the required fluids? I'm so nervous now and thinking about backing out the surgery. How is something like this good for weight loss' date=' if one xan barely get in fluids just to come down on the weight can't this causes health problems too? I'm new please help me understand.[/quote']

It want be had the first 3weeks but after that I find it hard from eating my 12oz, Protein Shakes and vitamins...lol

  8. Just wondering how everyone is doing after 3 weeks? Feeling pretty good most times' date=' still wondering how it will all play out. Have not found it easy! How's your intake, pain, weight loss, energy level?[/quote']

Hey my sister sleever, today was my first day eating reg food beind our 3weeks (6/25) I hv no pain , energy level is ok and loss 13lbs the first week and hvnt check my weight since. I will start my exercises tomorrow. Lets Go Weight Loss.

  9. I am having a revision done in 11 days and would appreciate it if you would share your experiences with weight loss and/or complications.

I was band in 2005, I stared leaking in the port and replacement band done 2006, then had hernia operation but when they got in there was no hernia just that. Band was to high up, that was 2007. I have been sick off and till they unfilled me in 3/2013. I was unband and sleeved at the same time on 6/25...I had a lot of spasms after the surgery. My Dr said I had a lot scare tissue and my band had slipped, which we didn't know until the surgery so it took me along time to heal.I had to spend 3 extra days in the hospital but with all that being said, this is the best thing I have done. The first week I have lost 13lb. Today I feel normal. Wow

  10. As soon as my staples were removed I felt like old me! If I didn't take all these Vitamins and could eat like the old me I wouldn't think I'd have had surgery...BUT I do take a stack of Vitamins and my diet is VERY different' date=' so I know he did something in there. Here's to feeling normal!![/quote']

Thats funny u would say that because I'm 18 days post-op and myself and another person that had surgery the same day said the same thing. We said , did our Dr. Do anything becsuse other than my stables I feel normal. I can drink with no problem. Eat soft food with no problem. Tuesday will be my 3 weeks....will see.

  11. My son goes to the YMCA. New members gets an hour with a trainer for free. Afterwards' date=' it's 20 an hour. I'm hoping I'll be able to go and learn a few things in an hour.

The Bariatric Center I chose has a gym and patients can use it free for 2 weeks. They show you exercises to do at home or you can continue using their gym. I'm not sure of the cost after the trial. I plan to go a few times, but they are over an hour away.

I agree with you about being intimidated. I've never stepped foot in a gym and I'm definitely not the blonde Barbie in her cute little workout clothes either. LoL[/quote']

I would suggest Curves for women for anyone. Its all female, only 30min (which I love...lol) and only 3days a week.it works

  12. Hey everyone. I'm 5 weeks post-op and want to start the gym but I'm very intimidated. I've never been a workout kinda girl' date=' but I feel that person in me :) What is the best way to get started? I can't afford a trainer but I don't want to look like a fool of I go. Help.[/quote']

U know when I first banned; which I have since been convert to sleeved on 6/25/13. I found that curves gym worked great for me. Its not to hard of workout, only 30min and 3 times a week.

  13. Kat' date=' how close to your goal weight were you when you tried for the revision??

My weight is what scares me right now. I'm afraid they may turn me down because I weigh like 165 now but surely they will take into account that I started out at 235 right?[/quote']

Congrats on your weight lost but 165lb is a very low weight. The sleeve will make you loss pounds real fast and a lot. I would hate to have you loss to much because you started off low. Good luck on what ever you decide.

  14. I decided to Celebrate my 8 week anniversary with my first beef meal at the burger mecca ----5 guys!!! I had 2 bites and threw up for the first time in about 3 weeks..............those two bites were wonderful but oh boy that quickly changed...........i have heard people say beef that they have the most trouble with beef products but Help!! I have ALWAYS loved beef any suggestions?

I'm sorry, it could be the bread and not the beef.

  15. You look marvelous! What's your stats... before and after weight' date=' time frame/date, etc? Any tips? I just got sleeved June 25th, I know most people say just follow your dr instructions, but any tips are greatly appreciated. I still feel it beneficial to get advice or tips from people who have been there and are successful.[/quote']

Hey, we are sleeve sisters, I also was sleeved on 6/25/13. I was in a lot of pain due to the scare tissue but it is starting to level off. Good luck

  16. So I've consulted with a one surgeon (he placed my band in 08) and he's happy to remove and do the sleeve in a 2 step process. I'm going to a surgeon for a second opinion (only because I didn't do this with the band and I regret not getting more info from another source) and he performs the removal and sleeve in the same surgery.....which is way more appealing to me. Anyone out here have 1 procedure? I'd like to hear from both (2 procedures and 1). Thanks!

Hey, I had it done in one procedure and my recovery is a lot harder. I had massive scarring and heavy distorted stomach from living with a sever slip which we didn't know until surgery.

  17. @Kristina. J, your story sounds so much like mines. I was banned in 2005, had leakage for a year. So my banded was changed in 2006. With a small weight lost the dr. Found out in 2007a hernia, so I went to surgery for repair but when the dr. got in, and there was no hernia but found out that some of the stiches poped they just had to restich and changed the position of the band and port. So I lost weight with thevcorrection but I had a lot of puking and acid reflux during that time. I lost 115lb but in 2009 I became sick with bells palsy andi had a lot of meds to take which the band didn't like. So I stared gaining weight back. My org. Weight was 315 in 2005 got down to 200 at my lowest but I'm back at 340lb. So dr. Said the band had to be removed due to it gave me acid reflux and nausea with heart pain, so we did a band removal & revision to the sleeve on 6/25/2013. I have already lost 13lb on first 1 week check up. So good luck to both of us. This has been a long road. God Bless
