    Being stuck

Believe me........You will KNOW if you have a blockage!!! If you don't know, then you don't have one... I am one of those people that have to learn the hard way too!. I have to remind myself...especially when I have super hungry...(when I am ready to attack my meal), to take it SLOW! Don't just start sholveling the food in..... Slow and Steady Wins the RAce!

    Being stuck

thanks. I need to hear that information too! I always need reminding. I just my band filled after a 8 month hiatus! I have gone from being able to eat whatever I want to restriction again. I am glad to reminded of what I have to do! It is actually good to feel my band helping me now!!! I am glad to be back on track!
  3. i get pain in my left shoulder if I eat too much. It is my understanding that it is actually referred pain from the diaphragm... wierd how that works isn't it?

    Something bad's going on

good advice .......... thanks for the info! pray all is better for ya now!
  5. thanks..... I will definitely peel the tomatoes. I am on my second day of liquid to pureed foods after my traumatic weekend with my overlytite band! I am so grateful to be getting something down now though! I am staying away from lettuce from now on. I also heard to stay away from asparagus!
  6. good luck to you! I have been banded 2 years and I am finally feeling HOPE!!! It sounds like you may have just found your "sweet spot"... I am sure you will be in for a big surprise when you step on the scales next time!
  7. thanks for the support. I am feeling so much better! I drank 2 glasses of water before I left the doctors office and my husband bought me a 32 oz. powerade on the way home. I never appreciated liquids in all of my life! I am finally getting my energy and strength back. I did find out what I think my problem has been. Salads! I ate salads thinking it was good for me. The problem started after eating salads. My doctor told me that salads aggravate the band. She told me to basically to stay away from salads, breads and thick cuts of dry meat. I am just curious does she mean lettuce... because I love tomatoes and I have fresh ones from my garden. What is your opinion?
  8. I am so proud to hear of your weight loss. I had my band for 2 years....i felt so much at a standstill. I finally found a new doctor that I am comfortable with. I had 1 cc of Fluid put in and got so restricted that I was not keeping fluids down AT ALL.... I went to her this morning and she took .5cc fluid out! I was so glad to drink again. I was getting dehydrated! I felt awful. I am so happy to drink again. My advice to you, is not to get too big of a fill at a time! Good luck and kepp us informed!
  9. I just got home from Sonic. I got a slush. I am trying to get this down. I am so aggravated. I am soooo thirsty! I have been so emotional today. I have been crying off and on all day. I am going to the doctor first thing in the morning! Thanks for the support.
  10. how long did it take you from your fill to get to the point of throwing everything up? That is where I am right now with my band. I finally called the on call doctor last night. I am worried about getting dehydrated. I am trying to wait until Monday morning. The doc said if I started getting weak or dizzy to go the ER and they would admit me for IV fluid replacent until my doctor was back in the office on Monday. I have tried several times today to drink water and it just won't go down. I have cried. I am feeling like such a failure right now!
  11. thanks for the information. I think I will call my doc Monday and see if I can come in get .5cc taken out. I am back this morning not able to get liquids down and it is almost 2 in the afternoon. I just want to get to a happy medium! I have been feeling "blue" too. I'm guessing it is the food withdrawal or having a "restriction" on something in my life that I love and that brings comfort to me. That is really sad, isn't it? I am dealing with a lot of emotions right now! I was so excited to be getting a second chance and now I'm all emotional about it. Gee Whiz!
  12. I appreciate the help. Okay, after I had my soup, i was able to drink a 16 oz. bottle of water with no problem. Then just a little while ago, I took a drink of water and got stuck....I took a big gulp. I guess i need to sip slow. Does this make any sense? Also, do you know why it is tighter in the morning? I was just curious about that. I honestly think the more I know about what is going on with me, the better I will be with this band. It was scary having it all that time before and not knowing what was going on with my body.
  13. thanks for the reply. I am finally getting some purreed soup down this evening. I tried drinking fluids all day and couldn't get it down. but, maybe if i give it a chance and shed a few pounds, I will feel better. is it normal to feel really restricted in the morning? Maybe I should go back and get a 1/2cc taken out? I guess I can see how the weekend goes.
  14. Hi. I have had my band for 2 years now. My first doctor would never tell me how much fluid was in my band. In fact, since the end of October, I have gained back all of the weight I lost plus an additional five pouns. He said he only put a "little" bit of fluid in my band back in October. Obviously, it was not nearly enough for me, because I gained back everything! Instead of going back to my doctor, I let it get out of control. I am now back at square one! Anyway, I now went to a new doctor, who I LOVE. She told me that I had 1.8cc's in my band and she added 1 more cc, so now I am up to 2.8cc, but I am feeling a bit too restricted. What are the signs of too much restriction and how soon after a fill do you know? I want to find that "sweet spot" I hear everyone talking about. I feel really alone on this journey right now! Please help me!

    Kinked Port

Has anyone besides me had a kinked port? I had to go back in to have a second surgery 6 weeks post op from my lap band. I wondered had this happened to anyone else. I went to a new doc today and she said that the doc I went to does not attach the port to the fascia part of the stomach, therefore making it difficult to find and giving the port the ability to flip and move around. Has anyone heard of this? I am so glad I am at a new doctor!!!

    Really happy I switched surgeons.

I saw Dr. Weaver today for the first time. I switched doctors because of his bedside manner too! I am so glad for the switch!!! Cool that we are going to the same doc! Have you attended any of the support groups yet?
  18. I was just wondering how you get the ticker thing? Also, I saw Dr. Weaver today!!! I was so excited. I had lap band 2 years ago by Dr. Woodman (MISTAKE).... Anyway, today is a new day for me!!! a FRESH beginning!
  19. Hey, I am from Mississippi. I go to a doctor in Memphis. Dr. Virginia McGrath Weaver. She is awesome!!! I did use a doctor.....George Woodman.....he actually did my surgery and he is a MEAN person. There is also 2 doctors that I know of in Oxford, Dr. King and Dr. Byars. They are supposed to be pretty good. I had a friend who had surgery there with great results. GOOD LUCK!
  20. Hi.....I am new to this forum. I had lap band on June 1, 2005. I have gained back all of my weight. I am going to a NEW doctor tomorrow to have fluid put back in my band and to get a new start. I had all of my fluid removed back in October due to problems with "Esophagitis". Has anyone had this problem. I went to the doctor for a follow up and had gained a few pounds. He chewed me out and he didn't want to put any fluid in my band. He finally put a "little" bit in. Not enough that I could tell. I never went back to him. It is now the middle of June and I have gained all of my weight back. I started Aqua Aerobics today too. This is a new beginning for me! I am looking for encouragment and a place to "relate" to others! I hope I have found the right website!!! Good luck to all of you!

I had to have a 6 month program before my surgery. Do what they say and try hard. I wish I would have been more compliant then. I took the time before surgery to BINGE! I am now restarting, but thank God for fresh starts! Good luck to ya!
