  1. The biggest benefit for me has been the relief I have felt knowing that this was for me. I was overweight since I was a small child. My parents sent me to fat camp when I was in 4th grade. I lost weight, gained weight, lost weight, and gained weight so many times. No more yo-yoing for me.

  4. I am about 6 1/2 weeks post op now and really feel like I need more variety in my meals. For the past two days in a row I ate Lean Cuisine meals which tasted great but I know due to the carbs and sodium they are not a good choice. I never knew how to make good healthy meals prior to getting sleeved. What kinds of meals do you make?
  5. That site is amazing! I will have to spend more time there. I notice she only has Snacks listed there or are am I missing meals or does she just eat the snacks for meals?
  6. Are you for real? I go for my 2nd follow up on Wednesday too! Haha! What a small world. I can't remember what time my appt is, either 11:45 or 12:45. He is a great surgeon. Always happy to answer all questions, makes sure you have asked all of the questions you had, he is very nice, and he can laugh at a joke too. He performs surgery well too I believe. I mean for all I know they could have been having a party while I was knocked out but I came out ok so I assume he did what he was supposed to while I was in the operating room. I was a self pay also and like you, it made the difference as to whether I would have been able to afford the surgery or not. The price could not be beat. I did try premier vanilla shakes and did not like them too much. I have not tried the chocolate premier. I drink chocolate Muscle Milk. So far that is the most tolerable for me. I kind of think I am not going to love any of the Protein drinks or supplements. I would rather just tolerate what I can rather than to spend anymore money and time trying others.
  7. Thanks Beach Lover, I will try that. I don't really find that I have a lack of room for the shake though. The taste is just hard for me to tolerate so I have to drink it slowly or else I get sick. I notice that you were sleeved by Dr. Shillingford. I was sleeved by Dr. Shillingford too!
  8. I am 4 weeks out. I do not measure my food. I eat until I feel satisfied and try to stop before I am full. In the morning I can eat a whole hard boiled egg. I wait a half an hour, then have a little water or crystal light, then I take a shower and have a protein shake after while getting ready for the gym. I drink that protein shake over the course of about half an hour. If I can't finish it then I sip it throughout the day. After the gym I eat some form of protein for lunch. I can eat a single portion container of cottage cheese or yogurt or I can eat 5 or 6 bites of chicken, turkey, or meat chosen. I drink a half an hour later and try to drink as much as I can until dinner. For dinner I am back to a few bites of meat but I try to bite or two of a vegetable with it. After eating meat I find myself needing to rest for a good bit to digest it. The only thing that concerns me is the fear of starving myself when my appetite starts to grow in fear I may gain weight back and also sagging skin.

    Hey June 25 Sleevers

Hi everyone, I was sleeved on 6/25 and I am feeling great. I have lost 24 lbs to date and it is coming off nicely. I was walking at the gym on the 3rd day being home from the hospital. I did get an abscess infection in my belly button but it was drained and I was put on antibiotics which cleared it right up. My clothes are fitting looser, I have lost 6" off my waist, and I am feeling like I was given a 2nd chance at life. I am eating anything soft that I can tolerate with protein filled meat in mind first like chicken, salmon, crab, tuna, and other fish, and I am drinking a protein shake for breakfast and as a snack in the evening. Finally getting used to the protein shakes which have been hard to tolerate. Drinking my water and taking my vitamins morning and night. The worst part for me has been heartburn which has been awful. I never really had it before surgery but I sure have it bad now. Aside from that I am so happy to be shrinking away!

    FINALLY! Somebody noticed

Tomorrow I will be 3 weeks out and I am down 24lbs. No one has noticed yet. I tend to think the bigger the more weight loss is needed for people to really notice. I have lost 6" off my waist and I am really happy the weight is coming off. People will notice sometime. In the meanwhile I will just enjoy smiling on the scale instead of frowning.
  11. I just bought vanilla premeir protein today. It tastes water based but still has flavor. It's not like a food I would enjoy but I think for the health benefit I can at least get it down and keep it in. I am going for my 10 day checkup tomorrow and I wonder if they will offer me anything.
  12. I think a ton of people must have this problem because I am experiencing this problem myself and I have read about a ton of others experiencing it too. The only protein drink I have been able to tolerate so far has been Muscle Milk and even that does not taste fantastic. I have to drink it slow too. The Banana is more tolerable for me than the chocolate. I have heard many say Premier Protein in Vanilla is good from Sams. I may go over there today, get some, and try it. I am 9 days out by the way. Congratulations on making this step to a new you!

    Suddenly Sad....

I just had surgery 8 days ago and I am fresh on reading my paperwork. This sounds like hibernation syndrome; where you get depressed, miss your old stomach, and the relationship you used to have with food. You're not alone. It happens in half of gastric patients and goes away in a few weeks.
