hi i have lost 56 lbs in 11 mos' date=' none of it has been easy. still struggle every day. 44lbs to go, starting to think i will not make it.[/quote']Did your NUT give you any suggestions on how to change your diet to increase your weight loss? I've done everything they suggest, but I still have only gone down 1 lb in past 3 weeks.
You are over 1/2 way there, which is great! Maybe some day I'll get to 1/2 way too.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! It always helps to know that there are others who lose a little slower like me. Even though I was told to expect to lose 6-8lb/month, for some reason I expected to lose more like 15lbs/ month. For those of you who asked, I was 251 day of my surgery (7/1/13) and 223 today.....72 lbs to go!

3 months post surgery and only lost 25lbs. I'm discouraged. Anyone else over 50 with really slow weight loss? What did you do to turn things around and lose more weight? I've been very good sticking to the diet plan, but admit I should exercise more.

Ginger is good for nausea.

I would suggest ordering a cup (not bowl) of Soup. That's what I usually order and a cup is still too much 7 weeks post-op. Hope you have fun!

I am a professor--love my job! Sleeved July 1 and glad I only taught online courses this summer so I could work from home.

ONE MONTH July 1st sleevers.....I want to know how your doing? How much weight you have lost? Are you abiding by your doctor's program as required? Water? I won't lie today marks 30-days I am disappointed in my loss. I am doing everything that has been required...I think because of my age my metabolism may be slower...discouraged. I go to the doctor on Monday...afraid my scale and his scale aren't going to be the same. While I am thrilled at my 22-lbs (since July 1st surgery) I see other people who have lost far more than me. I even walk 4-5 nights per week 2 miles......enough griping grateful I am loosing just feel like everyone is passing me by........You should be very excited with your weight loss so far---22lbs is great! I've only lost 16lbs and had hoped that my 1 month weight loss was more like 25-30lbs. Maybe because I'm 51 I will lose weight more slowly? Anyway, my surgeon was happy yesterday with my progress and she just recommended that I try to increase my aerobic activity. Lets just be glad that we are losing, even if it is at a slower rate than others

I am on the puréed stage too. Search the Internet for recipes and you should find one good ones like Shelly's baked ricotta, garlic Parmesan cauliflower, sugar free baked custard, eggs, and Soups. I made a chicken mushroom Soup that was terrific! (Yes, you do have to put it in the blender to purée it, but it doesn't look bad). Did you try light string cheese? I have been able to tolerate that pretty well.
There are lots of options out there besides shakes and Popsicles. Best of luck to you!

6 days out of surgery. I have very very bad acid indigestion and gas. It's like a labor pain but under my sternum. It fades and comes back about every 15 minutes. I am walking and drinking and walking some more. It does help relieve it after walking but comes back. I have tried gas x ' date=' equate and got Prilosec this morning. I think the Prilosec is not supposed to be a quick fix. The only way to get rest comfortably was to take the hydrocodone. I have suffered throughout the day and then taken it in the evening. When it wears off, the pain comes back... consequently I'm not getting much rest. . Tylenol does not help. Has anyone else had this experience?[/quote']Similar issues for me since my surgery on July 1. Surgeon put me on carafate 4x/day and that is helping.

I can relate! I was sleeved on July 1 (last week) and have had severe upper abdominal pain ever since. My doctor ordered a CT scan, blood work and didn't find any problems. She put me on carafate 4 times/day and told me to take 2prevacid daily too. Slowly, the pain is decreasing. If it doesn't go away, she plans to do an endoscopy in a month. (My gallbladder is gone). The carafate seems to be helping me. Hope you feel better!

My surgery is July 1 and it's good to see that I am not the only one feeling nervous! I guess being on this pre-op diet is making me wonder if this will really be worth it. Everyone I know who has had bariatric surgery say they have no regrets, so I just try to keep that in mind. My husband is retired and my son is in middle school so I hope I don't have any complications and recover quickly. Thanks everyone for sharing
