  1. A pound of muscle is 16 oz. A pound of fat is 16 oz. Muscle takes up less space then fat. Think of it like a pound of feathers vs. a pound of marbles. You could probably fill a room with a pound of feathers' date=' and fill a jar with a pound of marbles. Get it? So if you're building muscle you're going to replace the fat and your measurements will change. Also, muscle burns fat, so the more % of muscle you have in your body, the more calories your body will burn, and you will lose weight faster. Also when you exercise, your fat cells fill up with Water, then your body sheds the Water, which is why you sometimes see the scale go up when you start to exercise. I'm not an exercise Physiologist, these are just things I've read, and they make sense to me.[/quote']

Great way to explain it but fat cells shrink when you lose weight but are always there....hence why so many people who do lose weight so easily put it back on! You can accumulate lets say 100 large fat cells & losing weight shrinks them but you will still have that same 100 cells just shrunken waiting to be filled back up with fat! So your fat cells won't be shed by the water.

  2. One note of caution - recovery can be hard for some people. You may want to wait until you're on a break from school before you have the surgery. It's already mid-July' date=' if you start school in August that doesn't leave you much time to schedule, have the surgery, recover some, and then begin school. That's an awful lot of stress. I had a fairly easy recovery and was off work for two weeks, but I quickly discovered I should have taken three. Your energy levels, pain levels, emotions - all are variables that you can't predict until post-op. Give yourself plenty of time if you can.[/quote']

If everything is on quicker side there's about a 6week time frame till I start school, if I was to choose to go to Mexico I could have it done the 9th & have 2 1/2 weeks before I went to school, the first weeks is usually going over the syllabus & light lecture! I would just skip this semester but I'm on a deadline to apply for the nursing program or wait another full year! I don't feel comfortable at school it's been 8 years since I've gone & was so close to being able to apply for the nursing program (I stopped because I felt insecure about my self/weight) I've only taken summer classes this past year & I'm already starting to feel the anxiety of fall classes! The stupid little desktops that dig into your stomach, or squeezing into the chairs! Taking a speech class & getting up in front of everyone assuming they're just staring & making fun! Ugh I just don't want to have to deal with that this semester (I want to be able to fit into the seats & walk around the campus without being winded) (Those aren't obviously all my reasons for wanting surgery but the reason to want it done sooner than later) I've read some people have been fine with only a 2wk rest & yes I know everyone is different. Thanks for the concern of a post op patient I do appreciate it!

  3. Oh sorry also I know Dr Cirangle comes to Stockton for seminars but do you know by chance what hospitals he uses if its more than one in CA? I went to a seminar YEARS ago & don't remember! Also did you finance this? Looking for good financing. My husband would love if I stayed in the states vs Mexico which I would too personally but of course the price for self pay is a huge difference! I could pay for Mexico but states would need some financing. Sorry for the 20 questions! Ok last one (how quick are you scheduled) I start school late August & would love to do it before then. Thanks again for your responses!

  4. Dr. Cirangle is a freakin awesome surgeon who started doing sleeves long before everyone else. He has a great track record and I actually appreciate his bedside manner. He always makes sure he answers any questions I have. I love him! Lol

When did you have your surgery!? Since you were self pay did you have to do all the things that insurance payers had to do that Mexico doesn't require!? Like psych eval, so many months on a diet, etc!?

  5. How about you start first by posting a current picture?

A current muffin top picture!? LoL all my pictures are of my face (love iphones front camera) I will take one of my muffin top & post it tomorrow lol it's late now!

I too wear the Spanx type under garments....but it's slowly getting bigger :0( my problem was plus size jeans it was assumed if you had a big stomach you had big thighs & legs so the jeans never fit right, they would fit in the legs & thighs but be a few sizes too small in the stomach!! Got to the point where I just used rubber bands to keep them closed instead of going up a size & sagging (sigh)

  6. I will stay in the hospital 2 nights but I have planned to cut my trip short by only staying in the hotel one night instead of two.

Ahhhaa this is what I meant, cutting the hotel stay short not the hospital! My bad, so is this based on how you feel or do you just tell them you don't want to stay 2 days!?

  7. I am not sleeved yet but also have PCOS & insulin resistant, and my husband & I tried for 5 years & finally went to a fertility doctor to check us & was told it was a combo of my weight & his slow swimmers (they always want to check the man first since its the cheapest so make sure he's tested may not be just you) so then we were told that we would not have kids without medical intervention so we had treatments done & sadly didn't work & had exhausted all of our finances, so I gave up the thought of having my own & we started the foster/adopt process & low & behold a few months in of not trying or worrying about ovulation the works it had happened naturally....I honestly think stress plays a HUGE factor! I was pregnant at 255lbs (yuck) but pregnant none the less! So after you're sleeved you may feel less pressure & stress! Good luck to you!

  8. I just got back from Mexico my passport had not arrive yet.. I took my original BC and valid ID and I was okay to cross back over no issues at all...

That is what I thought! I still want to get a passport for traveling purposes not just for this but if I didn't expedite it & even then it may not be here for August 12th & I don't want to push it back to December since that's when I will have a break from school!

  9. Ok so I'm not sleeved yet, but I wanted to get an idea of how this muffin top is going to look afterwards lol would you post pics of your PRE muffin top.....and yourself now? Stats on me because yes I know everyone is different yadi yah, but I'm 5'6" 252, apple shape with a stupid muffin top as of the past few years from trying to NOT to go up a pant size! :0( Pictures greatly appreciated.....who doesn't love sharing their success pics over & over!? I would be like BAM....thats me!! lol so look out when the time comes! THANKS!!!
