At the airport waiting to catch our flight to Tijuana! I'm starting to have that pit in the stomach feeling but...here we goHope all goes well. Mine went off w/o hitch except language barrier, but even that was manageable.

Hope all is going well!!! Thinking about you.
All went well; traveling home with flight problems (thank you American Airline).... We had to drive the last leg from Dallas. Just sore and having difficulties coming up with clear liquid foods while on the road. But, I'll be home with my kids in the morning & I'm having quality alone time with my husband:)

I'm getting sleeved Monday (7/8)... Nervous, but ready. My beginning weight is 307... Can't wait for this time next year:)

My sleeve surgery is Monday 7/8 (the day after my Bday).... Very nervous. I know this will vastly improve my life, but it's scary! My husband supports me, but I find that if I mention bariatric surgery to others, they freak out. I've resolved to not mention the surgery to anyone else.

Okay Mississippi ladies... I must say I'm starting to get a little nervous... I fly out Sunday 7/7 (my Bday) & have the sleeve surgery on Monday. It's about to happen!!! I know it will vastly improve my life, but it's scary!

July 8!!!!! Officially one week:)

Haha. Actually yes we are getting a little discount lol. If we had done it separately we still would have travelled with each other so more time off work and all that jazz. So this way we can "take a little couples trip" and just get it done. And the added benefit that we're on the same "diet" will make it easier I think. We're at NOVA hospital. Not many bariatric surgeons there because their OR fee is higher than the others (MI hospital' date=' Florence) my surgeon just started using them so not to many reviews. Star medical is the hospital the embassy uses if I remember right.?. do they do a lot of bariatrics there? We're recovering for a few days at lucerna, where will u be?[/quote']
Yep, Star Medica is an embassy hospital & yes, Dr. Rodriguez's team does many bariatric surgeries in Juarez & in Tijuana. We will be staying in the hospital for 3 nights. I've read that the rooms are like suites. We'll see:) I'm both nervous and excited!!!

Glad your hubby is going with ya. My husband is also going but...he's being sleeved as well .
Wow! Hope they gave you a 2 for 1 deal ☺... Where are you going for your surgery? I'm going to Juarez- Star Medica.
-
Yes I am getting sleeved but y'all will be ahead of me. My date isn't until September. Seems like so far away still. I am so ready to get this done and over with and begin my new HAPPY_HEALTHY_TERRIFIC life!!! Glad to see there are others in the area....we should keep in touch and support each other through this.....
It will be here before you know it! And just think about it, you can learn from all our mistakes:) I'm only telling my closest people about this; so, I'm glad I ran across this board for support. Definitely, let's support each other... especially since we are both on the Coast and both RNs:) My birthday is 7/7 & my surgery is 7/8... This is my Bday present to myself (the gift of Health and a better quality of life for me and my family) Keep in touch!!! - Brenda

It's crazy that you're a nurse' date=' I'm a nurse as well and I'm pretty sure that sunmoonstars is a nurse as well lol. I'm taking a more private road(I'm not sharing with work colleagues). July 8th is right around the corner! I wish my day was sooner but it'll be here before I know it. Are u going to mx alone? How's the preop diet going? Ill start mine in July 19th.[/quote']
Jc,
That's funny... I guess we'll all be in the same club: skinny-sleever RNs:) In response to your above questions- My husband is traveling w/ me to Mexico. As far as the pre-op diet, I'm only on day 2 of 14 days... It's tough, but do-able! I'm basically doing Adkins: High protein/Low carb. I just try to stay distracted and keep my eye on the prize:)

I'm in Gulfport, and scheduled for July 8 in Mexico with Dr. Rodriguez. I'll mention that I'm a RN and one of my doctor friends recommended Dr. Rodriguez. I've done my due diligence and feel 100% comfortable with my choice. I'll be having gastric sleeve & currently I'm on my 2week pre-op diet.
-
My surgery is scheduled for July 8th with Dr. Rodriguez in Juarez.... Anyone else? Any other Rodriguez patients?
-
July 8th in Juarez, Mexico at Star Medica Embassy Hospital.... Paying $6,800 + $900 airfare

I was talking about pre-op. some doctors say one week and others say two. Just wondering why the difference for the same surgeryMy doctor determines the pre-op diet based on the BMI. The more you have to lose; the longer the pre-op diet.

Mostly Protein Drinks, Soup & maybe scrambled egg in morning. It's taking me awhile to tolerate solids. I'm having to learn when to stop, to chew very well and to go SLOW. I've over-done it a few times...it's an on-going set of lessons. I'm basically learning my limits. If I eat too much, too fast or have advanced my diet too quickly, pain, nausea & vomiting results. Pretty good deterrent! BTW- no probs with work:) I took 2weeks off.
