  1. Hello: Well, its been since Nov since my surgery. I'm doing ok but now since I a few months out I'm starting to get concerned. I been working out 4 times a week and in the last 3 week have been working with a trainer. I have been doing at least 45 minutes of cardio and 1/2 hour of weight training. I'm not really seeing a difference. I went and bought a new top but I'm still wareing a 2x thats what I started with before surgery. My pants size did go down but only 2 sizes from a 22 to size 18. I'm worried when I go back to the doctor that he will think I'm not working hard enough and eating to much. But, beleive me I am working so hard and my calories are way down. Will I start seeing a difference soon? Any advice. Thanks

    Income Tax

OK, WE just had our taxes done and I'm a bit nervous and confussed. I know you can deduct out of pocket medical expenses less 7 1/2 percent of your adjust gross income. Since I was self paid for the lapband we turned in all the paper work from my surgery. The tax man was asking all kinds of questions about why didn't a go thru my insurance? was it medially necessary? I will like I was on the defensive. I do have insurance but they want you to go thru a 6 month diet program ya da ya da ya da. I was tired of being FAT and needed to do something, I didn't want to wait around for any approvals. Now I'm wondering if I should have gone thru my insurance anyways or just didn't bothrer with the income tax thing. The tax man said that they might deny our claim. Is there anyone out there who's has experience with this? Please tell me your experience. thanks for listening

    Income Tax

Thanks for the reply. The tax man thought maybe the IRS will not except our claim. I found out the insurance for sure is not going to pay. I didn't go thru the insurance because of all the requirements, such as diets ect. sorry but I've been there done that. So I went on my own and found a doc and self paid. AM I crazy? Should I have gone thru the insurance?
  4. Sorry! I missed out on what happen to your band. Do you plan on having it replaced?
  5. Hello All: I have been banded since Nov 24th 2004 - When I was looking for a weight loss surgery I read about the band and immediately knew this was for me. I orignally was to go Mexico but with the concerns of my family decided to stay close to home. So here I sit 3 months out...I have lost weight but I'm so afraid to weigh myself or even think I'm losing weight. I have had so much disappointment and frustrations with diets before the band that I'm afriad to think positive only to be disappointed again. When people ask me how much I lost I just make up a number or just say I don't kn ow. I'm even afraid to call my doc for an follow up appointment in fear the scale will increase instead of decrease..and get a lettuce on what I'm doing wrong. I've started exercising and I eat less then 800 cal. and 70 grams fo protein a day. What If I fail:nervous what will I do, how will I feel? :ermm I so much what to be a success but afraid it won't happen. I can not picture in my mind me at a normal weight I only see FAT...... Am I being silling?

    Hi everyone

Hi, I was banded in San Francisco by Dr Cirangle. I live in Hayward so its not to far. I'm always afriad to weight myself but I am two pants sizes down. Sometimes I have so many fears about failing this procedure since I have failed everything else as far as diets, exercise programs. And that maybe I should have had the gastic instead. But then I look at my pictures and see how I feel in my new sizes I start to feel better. Please write back and let me know how you are doing.
