  1. When I sat them down to bring up WLS to my parents for the first time, my father was of course skeptical that I was making too dramatic a decision and there was other things I should continue trying. Then he said: "Although I understand why you want it, I've been worried about your weight for a long time, but how could I bring it up without hurting you?" His concern was touching and what he said sealed the deal. I was always worried my parents were disappointed in my weight problems and though it was concern, not disappointment he voiced, it reaffirmed those feelings. How could I go on living the way I was knowing the people who love me most saw me the way I feared strangers did. No, that statement pushed every other "what if" out. I'm 7 nearly weeks post op now, my dad came with me to TJ for my surgery and I hope this year will bring all positive changes!
  2. Hahahaha you poor creature, I've never had the issue of hot food giving the other end a toasting. Lucky me I guess
  3. I ate sriracha at four weeks out with zero issues! Sleeve doesn't mean hot sauce is off limits, it's a delicious low calorie condiment. Just take it slow and see how you feel
  4. First time adding to this thread! I am six and a half weeks out, cleared for all food by my surgeon. Sometimes I feel like I eat more than many people this far out are capable of. Depends on what it is, some Proteins are much easier than others!

    Shake--eating or drinking?

I agree, they are a liquid. And they count towards your water intake.

I'm 5 and a half weeks out and can eat almost anything with no nausea. Again everyone's different. I used to get nauseous until I literally FORCED myself to eat around two and a half weeks (purées). It was bad at first but I kept everything down and I felt better with every bite. Protein shakes are still a no. Water is still very hard. But food is a non-issue. Weird how your body refuses such things. Hope it gets better for you guys soon :/

    Not losing weight!

I weigh on the 12th as well! But my surgery was November 12th

    Not losing weight!

I only weigh myself once a month. Helps me to not see the stalls and just notice a downward trend. Doesn't seem like many people use this approach though, perhaps the curiosity is too great but I just don't want to obsess.

I have a very high sex drive, a little less time out than you are but although the drive hasn't changed too much, dehydration has taken a weird effect I didn't think of before surgery. Needless to say its an embarrassing problem I have never had to deal with before and I hope it goes back to normal the further out I get! Maybe that plays into your lack of drive as well, remember all your hormones are completely bonkers right now. Give your hubby some attention and I'm sure things will return to normal once the hormones settle.

Wow, you're further out than me but sounds like your sleeve is giving you a much harder time than mine is, which makes me both happy and sad. Almost like I wish I was playing vomit Russian roulette because then maybe I'd have better success long term! I think we all go through tough periods but I don't think any of us did anything but the right thing! This will give us a future that without it was just a pipe dream.
  14. I told my coworkers a tale that is 90% true. Told them I had surgery to remove a portion of my stomach. I didn't say it was for weight loss, I said it was because I had benign polyps forming that were creating scar tissue on one side of my stomach so they removed it. Hence the liquids to mushy to soft to solid food transition. It also explains way I'm eating such small portions. They didn't doubt it for a second because its only a little bit lie and mostly truth. Makes talking about it really easy lol

TMI... But I have to know

I only had one instance of gas pain, for about ten minutes in my left shoulder, two days after surgery. Again, has nothing to do with BMs or farting, the gas pain is in your body tissue and is completely separate from your GI tract.
  16. One month out and I feel 90% back to my old self, except for getting hungry so much more often! Every two hours or so, I have to eat something. I also don't know about your postop diet from your surgeon but I have very few limits at this point. Still eating mostly meatballs but have tried other things with lots of success, does seen like much bothers my sleeve (except for too much of something lol). Good luck on your surgery! Keep us posted.

I loved Fredricko! We couldn't make it out to get any souvenirs which my mother asked for. Asked him if there was somewhere across the street and he said no, sadly. So we went back to our room and finished packing (we left the next day). In the morning awaiting our ride in the lobby, Fredricko comes up to us and gives us a small baggy with different key chain souvenirs!! We tried to pay him for them but he refused and sent us on our way with a smile. I couldn't believe he went out of his way after he got off work to get a lovable tacky keychains for my mom, unbelievable. Above and beyond doesn't cover it. Good luck ladies! Don't be scared or nervous, it's a big change but I doubt it's one you'll regret. Just remember what ever it was that was the "final" straw for you. Mine was a cranberry juice drinking video my sister took of me. I knew I had put on weight in the last year but my word! So many chins! Seeing myself that way when I didn't feel that big solidified everything for me. I was so determined that I felt neither fear or worry, just stubborn grit that no way was I going to go another year without changing my life. I hope to be goal by my 26th birthday. Keep us posted with how everything goes! We look forward to seeing your beautiful smiling faces on the other side.
  18. One month out from surgery (had on November 12th) I lost 15 pounds. Plus my 14 on preop diet, 29 pounds down since October 28th, that's not too bad I suppose but I do worry I'm failing! Fat brain again I suppose

    I've Hit The Dreaded 3-Week Stall...ugh!

I love Skippy, I've read about Skippy's adventures in sabotage on other threads and it makes me laugh every time! I think I'm so scared of failure that the curiosity of weighing daily isn't even there... I'm just plain scared...

    Terrified

I'm only 4.5 weeks out and I'm already scared of this! Some days (or foods) I seem to be able to eat more and some days it seems like a lot less. I feel full quickly (maybe 3 oz or so) but I get hungry often, every two hours or so. Thanks for posting, maybe I can save myself some worry around the 6 month mark

    Will I be sipping forever?

I'm 4.5 weeks out and am just able to take long deep drinks of pretty much any liquid (water can still sometimes be a challenge). Had some chocolate milk yesterday and was surprised how many mouthfuls I could drink before I stopped due to not being thirsty anymore haha. I would say even this early out I'm able to drink the same way I would before surgery (though I don't think it's chugging, just able to drink a steady amount without stopping).

Sorry to interject, today was my one month surgiversary. Took my weight and measurements for the first time. HW:259 SW:245 CW:230 Lost 14 pounds preop, and now 15 post op for a total of 29 pounds I'm down 1" in my neck, 2.5" in my waist and 4" in my hips. Didn't take leg or arm measurements unfortunately. Could be more but at least its something. And weighing monthly has prevented stress over stalls so far so that's a positive. Hurrah!

Clear liquids is the first three days after surgery, that's when you do broth, sf jello water etc. yes, the preop is including the protein shakes.
