  1. That is awesome! Congrats :-)

I think the consensus of the respondents is correct...everyone is different...metabolism, BMI, food choices, Protein consumption, exercise, etc. will all affect how your body responds. I lost 16 pounds prior to surgery, 6 pounds during 1 week pre-op, and 15 pounds since surgery (June 27). I sometimes think this is a slow process. However, I did not gain the weight in a few weeks, so why would I lose it in a few weeks. The majority of the research indicates 6-12 months for weight loss w/ a common baseline of 6-8 months when people realize they have lost a significant amount of weight.

  2. Hi Everyone!

    Fairly new to this forum-

I'm hoping that someone can anyone share their experience with Adderall xr after sleeve surgery?

I've been on Adderall XR for eight years now and will be having the sleeve surgery next month.

Along with helping my attention, adderall has a powerful appetite suppressant.

On days I don't take adderall,i have low energy and I eat a TON

After sleeve surgery, i was thinking about not taking my adderall and see how I can handle it.

I figure that during that time- i'll have low energy to begin with and also will be restricted to how much i can eat. the post surgery diet will help me build the right habits and routine so when I'm done- i'll be able to eat "normally" and not need adderall to suppress my appetite.

Also- post surgery i'll visit my psy to get another ADD med- but something different than Adderall. I guess my question is- has anyone tried this post surgery and how did you deal with the lack of appetite suppressing without the adderall?

    thx!

I am on Adderall, and my surgeon said to stay on the same dose I was on prior to surgery, which is 60mg/day. I would question if you are only taking Adderall XR as an appetite suppressant. If you have ADHD, the surgery does not address those issues, therefore your need for meds is still necessitated.

  3. I have received a letter at my on set of my journey in April that I qualify for VSG but that their is no guarantee of payment. I am doing the 6 mo monitor with my PCP and I have 3 co morbidities. My surgeon insurance lady --- says I have to pay up front and they will refund what the insurance pays. This just doesn't sound right to me has any one else experienced this with united healthcare choice plus??? Looking to have surgery 1st of October.?????

I have United Healthcare. Not sure if it is Choice Plus or not. The approved me, and my doctor gave me a figure I owed him LESS what he would get from United Healthcare. It was slightly adjusted downward from the original quote. I am not expecting to get anything refunded to me, however, if I do, it will be a bonus. Hope this helps.

  4. I had my gall bladder removed, hiatal hernia repaired, scar tissue taken down and sleeve all lapascopically and did fine!!

I had my hiatal hernia repaired, liver biopsy and sleeve done laprascopically. I am 5 days post op, and I am having terrible pains on left side of chest, what feels like on top of heart, just under breast and ribs. I think this is from the hernia repair, but could it be something else? Let me know if you had anything like this happen post op. Thanks.
