    HCG diet?

I would like to throw out a word of caution. HcG can cause tumors, etc that may be present in your body to grow. When I was pregnant with my first child and had natural HcG in my system, I had a fibroid tumor that grew from the size of a grapefruit to the size of a watermelon due to these hormones. by the time I had it removedafter delivering my son, it wwas over 9 pounds forthe biggest one, and had about 6 pounds of other fibroids removed too. Thank goodness they were not harmful tumors, but the hormone could have the same effect on a spot of something that may be present in your body.

    No recliner?

I loved the massging sleeves too! But I was never told anything bad about a recliner. I too slept in mine for the first few days. But I got up and walked around and showered daily, etc. so I am sure I wasn't at increased risk for clots b/c ofthe recliner. Maybe they're afraid you'll never get up in a comfy recliner?
  3. Time of the month? 2 pounds is likely Fluid since you're eating nothing different. Trust yourself and it will resolve itself!

    Feelin Down :(

I was sleeved on 7/19 and was 319 lbs that morning. I think I am around 300 now, but not sure exactly as I hid my scale in an inconvenient place b/c I was tired of feeling frustrated. I can tell I feel a lot smaller and am looking different to myself. I definitely feel less frustrated not weighing in. Seeing a number higher than I expected was making me feel like I was failing.
  5. I am 5 weeks post-op and have stuck pretty much exactly to my program's guidelines for diet progression. Today, I made brownies to take somewhere, and I licked the spoon when finished. I did it without thinking, but figured it wouldn't be too bigof a deal for any reason due to the small quantity. Brownies have always given my heartburn in the past, but I certainly didn't expect it out of such a small amount. I was WRONG!For the next 2 hours, I suffered the worst heartburn I have ever felt. I'm sure I will never do that again. And, how cool would it be if I could not tolerate chocolate??

    eat w/o drinking

A bookI read before surgery explained that your new small stomach functions much like a toilet. Adding water, or any fluid, on top of the little food you can fit flushed it right down makingroom for more food because you no longer feel satisfied. I purposely try to drink a lot before my meal, and than I waiti 1 hour afterward for drinking. My dietician said this is the single most important habit to learn to keep weight off for life.
  7. I use my nutribulllet all the time! My kids drink their breakfast (fruit and yogurt smoothies) and for my protein shakes, and to make protein supplemented instant pudding. Sugar and fat free, of course. There will be a lot of froth at the top of your shakes. I highly recommend getting a couple of sippy cups to drink them out of. I read the tip from someone on here and tried it since we have them around the house anyway. You can get past the froth to the milk without scooping off anything that might be valuable.
  8. My doctors were up front about the lackof long term results with this surgery. They have a patient who is 10 years out from their first gastric sleeve and her results have been decent. But, I know the research is out there for the results of my morbid obesity and could imagine what problems I would have b/c my parents are having major troubles...hip replacements, severe arthiritis, high bloodpressure, and increasing immobility. Weighing those issues for me, it became an easy choice to pick the sleeve. I have 3 young children and a fit husband. We want an active and healthy lifestyle for our whole family and I was holding that back. In my mind, if I only bought mysellf 30 more years to live into my 60s in a healthy way, this surgery would be worth it as my children would be adults. So, I think you should ask your doctor every question thatcomes into your mind. Then weigh yourpros and cons once you have the info you can get. Good luck with your decision!

    Drinking fluids post op

I dilute a generic crystal light tea (Walmart brand) a lot....1 stick to 32 oz of water. I also love my Turkey Hill diet tea...usually diluted. I'm going to start making my own tea again....have you tried unsweetened tea?

    Recovery

I'm a teacher too and am officially back to work as of this week. I had 2 weeks of recovery, but still a couple more weeks of feeling tired and sluggish. I just reached the 5 week mark and felt very good this week.

anyone else felt the way I do

I too was shocked after watching my sister-in-law eat some cheesesteak topped fries shortly after my surgery. I wasn't disgusted at her, but at thinking I could easily have eaten the same thing in the same amount of time only weeks before. I'mthankful for a tool that has me on a path to changing my old habits.

    My incision opened

2 of mine opened a few days after I got home. I washed them in the shower each day and when I checked in with my PCP he wanted neosporin on them twice a day. I did that for a few days until they got scabs and then I just left them alone. (Continued washing) and they're fine now at 5 week. Completely smooth.
  13. I've been feeling pretty good this week until last night and today...I'm exhausted. I think itmay be b/c Thurs. and Friday were crazily busy days and I didn't get enough protein and was lower on the calorie count both days. I wonder if that is why I'm so freakin' tired!

    6 months out!

You look great! Your face was pretty in your before, but looks younger in your recent pic!
  15. I couldn't handle the PPI, so I started using zantac and it's working great. If I forget to take it, I start feeling heartburn. I'm hoping to wean off down the road!
  16. I was given the can in the hospital, but it's available on Amazon. The scoops of beneprotein are much smaller than unjury so I will do the math to see which is cheaper before I order more Unjury. I couldn't taste the beneprotein mixed into my carnation with milk to make a Protein shake. http://www.amazon.com/Beneprotein-8-Ounce-Canisters-Pack-6/dp/B001W6RHRK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1377048021&sr=8-2&keywords=beneprotein
  17. I really like the unjury unflavored mixed into anything milky. I was given a can of Nestle Beneprotein at the hospital and liked that too. I think that beneprotein would mix in more easily than the Unjury. Blash, I understand how you feel. My NUT told me I could add in crackers next week. I told her that's a bad idea for me for sure! I'm going to try to reinvent my diet without those sliders.
  18. My program says 75g of protein minimum and 800 calories minimum. I wonder why such a difference?

I'm so sorry! I will pray for this to be the answer to the problems you're having. You deserve an end to it!

    We got our wish!

Congratulations! And I agree, you are beautiful! A person who can deliver such a mean and viscious comment and have it seem sincere must be a true B. Even if it was true in his or her opinion, what would be the purpose of saying it other than to make you feel lousy?

    LIQUID PROTEIN

However, the Isopure powder I have tried is disgusting, in my opinion.

    LIQUID PROTEIN

I really like the isopure that is ready to drink. It's expensiveat GNC, but cheaper if you order a case from Amazon. I'm still drinking 1/2 a bottle each day to boost 20 gramsof protein to my daily total.

    Fish

My super simple favorite: Place a tilapia filet on a pan. Spray lightly with cooking spray. Sprinkle with Old Bay and bake at 350 for 20 minutes. I never get tired of this recipe.
  24. Hey all, I was sleeved 7/19. As of my last weigh in last week, I am down 14 pounds since surgery, and 35 pounds overall. I went from a BMI of 50.2 to 45.0. I was feeling bloatedand awful for a couple of weeks and had very slow weight loss those 2. I feel like I am losing again but am thinking about stayingaway from the scaleb/c I'm feeling good again and the scale can make that go away if the numbers don't seem good. I have been eating 3 meals/ dayof 3-4 tablespoons each. I have had 2 Protein shakes in between meals and 1/2a bottle of ready-to-drink Isopure each day. I'm averaging 80g protein and about 750 calories/day. Sample meals: Cottage cheese w/ 1/2 pureed fruit pouch, ricotta cheese with splenda and cinnamon, pureed chicken with a veggie in it, refried Beans and ground chicken mixed together, baked tialpia, etc. I also have had eggs with no problems. I really just started working out again too.

    july 2013 sleevers

I was 3.5 weeks out at my last weigh in and lost 14 pounds since surgery. It's kind of disappointing since I lost 11pounds in the first 10 days. I'm hoping the weight loss picks back up after my body adjusts to the new normal. Also, I only just got cleared to return to the gym, and will be much more active once the school year starts and I am back to work. Hopefully it will be faster!
