    Feeling guilty!

So I started my pre-op Opti-Fast diet on Monday. Monday and Tuesday were okay, difficult but I did better than I thought I'd do. Yesterday was really difficult and I broke down with a few scoops of dry roasted peanuts then today I did the same damn thing. I knew this was going to be a struggle but, geez.. Didn't think it would be this hard. This is harder than it was for me to quit smoking! I think part of my problem is the whole issue with not having anything solid to chew. Opitfast does offer protein bars but I bought them in 3 different flavors and they were all terrible.. The shakes are okay so I just exchanged them for more shakes.. So basically I'm on only liquids and that is TOUGH. Anybody else cheat with peanuts or something that is high in protein rather than something sugary? I'm just concerned it's going to affect my surgery. I feel like the biggest dingbat right now lol. Ugh.

    Feeling guilty!

Thanks guys. I was doing some googling on the subject and I don't feel too bad after reading what some people cheat on.. Some person said they at BK like nearly every day up until the week of surgery. Makes my half a jar of peanuts sound pretty okay. lol It's funny too.. I'm not a peanut fan but when I saw that can of peanuts it was like all of a sudden they were the best thing in the world and I just had to have them.. It's a bad day when some peanuts sound like a filet mignon. lol.
  3. Well we have that in common because I started my diet on Monday and will be sleeved on the 22nd! I'm doing pretty good and hanging in there on the Opti-Fast diet. I have no problem with my shakes and soups but the bars are intolerable.. They not only taste gross but have a sandy texture. So gross! lol. I switched my bars for more shakes instead. Anyway, it's nice to see someone going through this at the exact time I am.. Hang in there and good luck to you! If you need anybody to reach out to, I'm here for ya as are so many other really cool ladies. Good luck!

Looking for a buddy in DE

I met quite a few people at my pre-surg meetings that had the lap-band and gained most of their weight back.. I guess the main complaint was that it was just not strict enough and allowed them to overeat way too easily.. I was originally going to go with Lap Band but I eventually came to terms with the fact that I needed something more restrictive than that but not as restrictive as RNY. I started my OptiFast diet yesterday (which sucks but i'm already down 4 lbs in one day lol) and will have my surgery on the 22nd.. I'm super nervous but really excited at the same time. I hope things work out for you and you figure out which surgery is the best option for you. Keep me posted!
  5. Preferably Kent County. There aren't any support groups down in this part of the state and I think having someone to talk to and maybe work out with would be great. Doesn't matter if you're pre-op or post-op either.
  6. Were you able to purchase this directly from HealthWise? I tried but they do not sell to consumers, only to health care professionals. I tried the tomato soup at a meeting and it was actually super good. So was the Lemon Razzy fruit drink.

Looking for a buddy in DE

I know, right? I was told there used to be one but I guess it fell apart with lack of members. Kind of sad considering how many people in this area are getting surgery. I was invited to the one up in New Castle but that's about it. Thanks for responding and I'd love to have someone with the experience to talk to.
  8. Hey guys. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Ryanne and I'm getting sleeved on July 22nd. I'm super excited but extremely nervous. I was totally optimistic, excited until I got my official date last week. Now I'm a bag of nerves and second guessing my decision. I know in the back of my mind it's the best decision I can make for myself considering some of my health problems (diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis) but I can't help but have this overwhelming anxiety. I find myself being silly and Googling everything and anything that can go wrong. I know I need to stop that but I can't seem to help myself. I guess my most feared possibility is a leak. Even on this forum, I've read stories and it's freaking me out. Anybody else having major anxiety? Also, I'm looking for recommendations for protein shakes, post-op. My surgeon recommended only a few brands besides the brand that they sell at his office. I bought a bunch from his office but I'm sure I will eventually tire of those and want something new. Also, I want the convenience of going to a store and just buying products rather than having to drive an hour and 20 mins to his office every time I run out of meals. Any help with that would be greatly appreciated!
  9. Yeah I can imagine chili would taste decent being pureed. And there's also the strained soups option and .. baby food. I met some women at a meeting that lived on baby food for the first month. Not sure I can do that!
  10. Thanks for the replies and recommendations. As mmc said, I'm sure I will start to prefer pureed over shakes lol. I've heard that from a few people. I have an Unjury sample that I'm going to try and my surgeon sells Health Wise products and I have a bunch of that right now. I'll have to go to the Unjury site and maybe buy the sample pack. Again, thanks for the tips guys!
