  3. I've had a few episodes of this if I've eaten too much or too fast. It starts with nausea.... you feel like you're going to throw up, but no food comes up, just copious amounts of thick, clear slime. It's very weird.
  4. Good luck, that's a lot to take on at the same time. I wish you the very best. I thought I bit off more then I could chew when I detoxed from caffeine and food at the same time. I was instructed to do a 7 day liquid diet pre-op, but I was on an out of control binge fest knowing I was having the surgery. I decided to start my liquid diet 7 days early to stop myself from the out of control eating. Once I made the decision, I stuck to it. I'm sure had I not done that, I'd have been 10 pounds higher on my day of surgery. It takes 14 days to change a habit, so that's what I gave myself. It was a good decision.
  5. Been there, done that, have the T shirt. Not during my pre-op liquid diet, but thousands of times before when I was "dieting". I suggest you get the book, "Eat It Up", the complete mind / body / spirit guide to a full life after weight loss surgery. It goes beyond the "how to" of maintaining weight loss, and deals with the things that have been eating us... that led us to become weight loss surgery candidates to begin with.
  6. There have been lots of posts regarding constipation. I recommend Miralax. It works great.
  7. I am hooked on Chobani FF Plain Greek Yogurt. I flavor it with either SF DaVinci or Torani Syrups, or Mio, Crystal Light or Dasani drops. The flavors are endless and you can make them sweet or not so sweet depending on your tastes. It's high in protein, and you're not adding any calories or carbs by flavoring it.
  8. Oh my goodness.... our poor pups are going to need sleeve surgery next.
  9. I agree, the first post-op week of clear liquids was torture. I had no trouble during the pre-op liquid stage. Even the 3 days of clear liquids weren't bad, cuz I could gulp that nasty Isopuke and get it down. Pre-op I did the first 11 days "full" liquids, then 3 days clear. I was never hungry, usually thirsty, and had no problem with getting in enough liquids and protein. Post-op, having to sip that yucky stuff was like punishment. Now that we're back on full liquids and we can have shakes and soups it's much easier. My challenge is getting in all the protein and keeping the carbs and calories low.
  10. I took my dog for a walk around the block and felt like I'd ran a marathon. I had to take a nap. I would have thought by now I would walk a mile effortlessly. Recovery from VSG is not for sissies....

" My fatness......well my fatness goes back to one of my first memories going to the doctor for shots and the doctor saying I was overweight, no more apple juice or graham crackers, my mom was a health nut there was never anything unhealthy around. My mom pushed me hard and before you knew it I was sneaking food and hiding to eat. I could think of nothing else but food. I stayed overweight till college when waitressing for 12 hrs and aerobics class took over. Oh yeah and that stuff called ephedrine that was miracle for me. I prob at that point got to my lowest in years around 170-180 and was never aware that I was thinner. I still had the monkey on my back, and I am worried that will be my biggest thing to overcome as the weight comes off. The Fat girl mentality., I must admit, I have the whole self loathing problem, can't make eye contact with people in certain settings, avoid having pics taken. My poor husband, has dealt with me withdrawing from the bedroom due to this as well. I am done hiding!!!!" Adargie..... most of that paragraph could have been my story too. 7 years ago I lost 150 pounds, but when I looked in the mirror I still saw 272. The only thing that confirmed my weight loss was that I was wearing a petite size 4. Well... obviously that's no longer the case, as I'm having the surgery on Thursday after regaining half of that 150. Good luck with your surgery... you're right behind me.
  13. I take Celebrex which is an NSAID, but I was told I can still take it post-op. But NOT Ibuprofen, Mobic or Naproxyn
  14. It's all just as well...... Stay out of N'Awlins. I lived there for 8 years. It has the best food in the world. I don't know how I could live there post-op. Seriously though... they'll come around once they see you're healthy and happy. My surgery is one week from today also. Best wishes for an uneventful surgery, and a smooth and speedy recovery. PS... I really miss N.O. It's the most fun and friendliest place I've ever lived.
  15. I'm doing pretty well with the Pre-op liquid diet. Last night I started feeling hungry. I had a chicken bullion cube, mixed it with hot water and really enjoyed it. I didn't think I was going to like it. I just wanted something very low calorie that wasn't sweet. I was pleasantly surprised.
  16. This is day 3 for me, and I've got to say I haven't been hungry at all. I had a slight headache last night, but 2 Tylenols took care of it. I've been shopping all day today and doing a lot of running around. I didn't feel tired though till I sat down at my computer. They say the first 3 days are the hardest. If that's the case, the next 10 days should be a breeze.

I went to the FitBit site and they have different models as well. What's the difference between the clip on and the bracelet? I'm thinking there would be less of a chance I'd lose it if it were around my wrist rather then clipped on to my clothes. The sleep monitoring interests me, as I've always had difficulty staying asleep and wake up frequently during the night. For the people here that have one, is it accurate? Can you swim with it? Is there a monthly fee in addition to the initial cost of the device? Is it worth it? I would think at least initially it would be very motivating. Maybe I'll make it a gift to myself for reaching my initial short term goal.
  18. I'm in the Ready, Set, Go mode myself. Time to get serious, as I've been eating like there is no tomorrow. I'm committing to myself and my fellow "sleevers" to begin my diet tomorrow. My plan is to do Weight Watcher's Points for 2 weeks, then start the pre-op liquids. My choice is HMR shakes. I drank them exclusively for 6 months (5 per day), and lost 100 pounds. Had I been able to keep the weight off I wouldn't be here today, but oh well... it is what it is, most of us have been there, done that, and have the T-shirts. The good news is.... This will be the LAST time I will have to lose this weight. I haven't been able to "diet" for a whole month without blowing it, so now that "cheating" is no longer an option, I should get a good jump start and hopefully I'll be under 200 lbs. by my surgery date. I'm only 5 feet tall, 60 years old, and a slow loser. My goal weight is 125. I CAN DO THIS !!!
