  1. Hey all! One week out!! I am officially starting my liquid diet although I was wanting to do it yesterday' date=' but ended up crying in a Chinese restaurant instead. I was going to just journal about it but thought that some of my fellow VSG ers would get a laugh out of it so I started a little blog. Please check it out and let me know what you think, and if you can relate.

Yes I can relate. My surgery will be Aug 14. :) keep blogging & I will keep reading ;-)

  2. I think you should go. Change of scenery would help some of your pain & misery. As for the reception or eating times, you could always excuse yourself for the initial, go stretch out in your room, have a Protein Shake etc & then go back to join for the activities. Amazing what some laughter, activity & change of scenery can do for the mind & body! :)

  3. Even in pre-op stage, I am beginning to struggle with this. I can so relate to the both of you. I'm realizing this particular area with be my biggest, nastiest, & hardest battle with myself. Thank you both for throwing this topic out there! It just brings it to the forefront of reality!

  4. Do most people have a hospital stay? I will just be in a recovery room for a few hours then go home <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> Makes me worried.

My doctor said I will be inpatient 24-48 hours post. I have read in the past on here that some do have it done as "outpatient" and go home same day.

  5. I'm an RN on a busy pediatric unit and I'm taking 7 weeks off. Partly for the lifting restriction (you'd be amazed how many kids launch themselves at you and just assume you'll catch them lol) and partly so I can have an eating/drinking routine in place before going back. I suspect I will be sneaking dixie cups of Water between patients to ensure I'm drinking enough.

I can totally relate. I am a Peds RN as well :)

  6. Well made it thru my pre-op just fine. Everything went smooth. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Overby!! Pre-Care was fine as well. I am a pediatric nurse & was so surprised that there was no bowel prep required or even a special pre-op diet. That just seems so odd to me. Of course I have already been preparing doing low carb, absolutely no caffeine and no sweets diet for about 2 months now. I have lost about 4 pounds since my initial appt back in June. I'm exercising at the gym at least 5 days /wk just to keep the discipline going.

Did you have a single room or a double while in the hospital? I'm really hoping for a private room!
