  1. I need to pick a date to start and then just start! I am scheduled for surgery Nov 25 and have to do a 15 day pre op diet. I want to start eating healthier and cut back now so it won't be such a shock in Nov, but all I seem to be doing is eating everything!!! I need to get my $&@: together, kick everyone out of the house, clear out my cabinets and fridge, go to the grocery store and buy nothing but veggies (that's all I get on my pre op besides protein shakes and sugar free jello and Popsicles) jello, and then just do it. I am terrified I am going to fail at this and then what??

    Alberta Health payment

I was/am doing the weight wise as well. I am from northern Alberta and would be going through Edmonton for my surgery. I was told because of the wait list, it will be 6months to a year to get my referral another 6-month to a year to get my apt and then about a year after for my surgery. I don't have time to wait 2 plus years. I told my Dr I was going to MXN and would they still treat me after and he said they can't refuse treatment and he understand why I am Going. I haven't told my weight wise nurse that I made my apt yet though, I like her and feel like I am cheating in her, lol.

    Do I tell?

I would like to say I have been keeping it under wraps, but quite a few ppl know (husband, mom, dad, brother, my teammates and 4 close friends) However, there are some friends and family members that I do not want to tell until after. I am not sure of the reactions I will get from them and it's not their life, and really none if their business. Hubby is coming with, mom dad and brother because they are my immediate family, the 4 friends cause they are helping take care of my kids while we are away, and my teammates because 3 of us are going and will have to take about a month or so off. You don't have to tell anyone anything and you don't have to hide it either. You do what your comfortable with.
  6. I, I am not sleeved yet, but my appt is Nov 25 in Mexico. I am currently using the Syntrix Nectar protein shake, but my nutritionist said after surgery I will need to use a non muscle building protein shake and I should consider buying theirs. 1- How do I know what is a muscle building protein shake and a non muscle building? 2- what brand did you guys use? 3- if your Canadian, what brand did you use? Thanks guys!
  7. This is the email, I know they want me to purchase their product for sure, I just wasn't sure what or if there is a difference. All this is very new to me. Hello xxx, I´m happy to receive all questions. We are here for you. For the pre-op Syntrix will be fine, the nutrient content is ok. If you feel too weak and not too often, add 1 cup of fruit to your shake. For the post-op you need to avoid muscle building shakes. Regarding the vitamins, you may take any, just double the dosage. You could also use prenatal vitamins. Once at xxx you should purchase the Enspira post-op and some vitamins for at least 6 months, consider that in your finances. Take care, Lucia

    selfpay Help!

Self pay with the Obesity control center Dr. Ariel Ortiz, have heard nothing but great things from ppl on here aswell as people that I have found around where I live that have gone there. Call them. Absolutely zero pressure to book, and they will send you out info ASAP! The coordinator Caroline has been extremely helpful, same as the nutritionist.
  10. Read things all over, don't eat this, make sure you take these vitamins. Don't drink carbonated drinks, yes you can, don't use a straw, it will blow up your tummy, I use one, ect... My head is spinning!!! I am doing a self pay in Mexico, and have no idea where to look for the true info. I don't have the pre op support and will get post op through email, but I am already feeling so far behind. What do I do? Where do I look? I just want a point form dos and fonts list, lol.
  11. I am getti h sleeved Nov 25, in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz, and my pre op diet includes low carb high protein shakes. They say that whey protein is the best. What are some of the ones that you have used that we can get here in Canada?

    Nov 25 at OCC

I am scheduled for my sleeve on nov 25th at OCC in TJ with Dr. Ortiz. I am pretty excited!!!! Anyone else going there or having surgery that day?
  13. A girlfriend and I are planning on going for our sleeves in the beginning if Dec at OCC. anyone else planning on then? Also, is there anything for our companions to do while we are there?
  14. Love this post!! I agree with what everyone else said, plus -not getting the respect I deserve -the lack of confidence in everything I do and constantly feeling like an insecure little girl -not wanting to have sex with my husband because I don't feel sexy or comfortable, even though he loves me. -not wanting to go back to my hometown because I don't want ppl to see me - being the fat or ugly friend -not being able to stand up for myself when I am treated like **** by friends and family. Oh god I could go on for ever! But the one thing I am looking forward to... Getting my LIFE back!! And clothes shopping

Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC

Did any of you get a detailed invoice? Like $ for the Dr, $ for the blood tests, $ for the anesthesiologist ect...
  16. All of our flights have layovers aswell, we chose one with a longer layover for the way home. Give us time to stretch and not be in a rush. Plane tickets, we booked through Expedia because they were the cheapest. I have booked through them lots before so I don't have issues with it, but some people feel uneasy with not booking directly through a travel agent or airline. Please please please share with me your experience on the first!! I am there on the 25th Best of luck to you!!!
  17. November 25th!!! A girlfriend and I will be going to Dr. Ortiz at OCC. super excited, not looking forward to the pre op diet, but can not wait to get my life back!

    Best and worst "compliments"

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I am in nov with a girlfriend of mine. We were talking about it to another friend of ours who is currently on another diet and she said, "so what, am I the only one that's going to donut the hard way?" We easily have over 100lbs on her. I love her, but that posses me off.
  19. My surgery is nov 25, so I can't tell you what is like yet. But I was wondering the same thing about relationships. I am worried about it alittle. I know of some people that have lost weight and turned into some nasty people, I really don't want that to happen. However, I am looking forward to the confidence I will have after, to change relationships that I already have. Be more outgoing, feel more comfortable around friends and family ect.. I am interetested to see what people that have had success already have noticed.
  20. Omg, you sound like me and those are all of my fears aswell. My sleeve date is n Nov 25th and I am psyching myself up for the 2-3 week pre op diet. However, I do get unlimited greens (raw or steamed) and if I am starving I can have come minestrone soup, but I am still terrified I am going to screw it up :/ Atleast your honest and are aware of your problem, some aren't. Good luck to you, you can do it, I know you can!!

    Any December OCC patients?

When I called back in June, she said I could get in in July. But I had to wait until my season was over. I actually just booked Thursday for November 25th. I was told to go at the beginning of the week to avoid longer wait times the day of surgery. Not sure if its a real concern or not. I have to renew my passport aswell, lol. I should get on that.

    Alberta Gal Here :)

I am from Northern Alberta and am going through the weight wise clinic aswell!! I was told on my last visit (I go every 2 weeks to keep myself in check) that if I lose weight she will put in my papers for a referral/consult but it could take about 6 mo that to get in, then about another year ontop of that. I told her at the beginning I was going to do self pay in Mexico, but would give this a try first. I, personally, can't wait 18-24 months. I booked my surgery with Dr. Ortiz for November 25th Good luck to us!!
  23. My girlfriend and I are booking tmrw with OCC and Dr. Ortiz. I was sooo excited leading up to it, but now, I am terrified Am I crazy? Can't I lose weight myself? Is it worth it? What if it doesn't work? Ahhhhh. I know I can't be the only one that has gone through this. What did you say to yourself?
  24. Thanks! It am confident with my choice in surgeon. It's just such a HUGE decision! have been doing our provinces weight wise group ( it helps you lose weight and then if still needed gets you referred to get sleeved or a bypass and its paid for by our health care system. It's usually take a year until you even get a referral then 6 months to get the pre op apt then another year to get the apt) This am at my apt, she said that next visit she will put my referral in (in 2 weeks) but it will still be about 18 months until I can get it now I feel torn
